Hi ladies,

Did my first lupron injections today and they were surprisingly easy. I hope things continue to go this smoothly. :) Also had my first accupuncture appt (have never done this before) and it was strange. I guess I expected to feel different or something.

Has anyone tried this in conjunction with IVF? My RE said absolutely I was not to take any herbal supplements but could do the accupuncture. Am I wasting my money? It may have been this practice I used. The guy wasn't the most outgoing or personable. I only went with them b/c they'll come to your transfer to do a before and after treatment to help you relax.

On another front - thought I had my final sperm donor candidate picked out but then found out he's not as all-american as the cryobank suggested. Got his pics and he has full arm sleeve tattoos and ear plugs! Very disappointed. He wasn't someone I would want to show pics of to my child as the years go by. And, he was one of the donors that can be contacted after the child turns 18. Again, if he looks like that now...what's he going to look like in 18 years? I'm probably being too judgmental but that's my perogative, right? So...back to the drawing board. I think I found a better candidate, though. So, fingers crossed that he has plentiful and strong swimmers!!

Thanks for all the positivity on the site. I love reading your posts!

txcplforivf-that's a GREAT number!!!!!! Congrats!!!

AFM-I received my protocol today. Well something they call a protocol. I'm supposed to start Lupron on 1/24 and continue my BCPs until 1/28. What I don't get is why am I doing BCPs for 3 months? I've been on BCPs since November and my cycle was already regular like clockwork. I'm just lost as to why so long on the BCPs. Anybody else been on BCPs this long before starting their stims? They said 2/3 will be considered stim day 1 and to come in for b/w and an u/s. The projected retrieval date is 2/14. But where's the rest of the list of medications? This is the mystery protocol. The pharmacy is supposed to call me to verify the shipping address, maybe they will know what I'm supposed to be taking. I'm just so darn lost with this. Any help from you guys is very welcomed.

Txcplforivf,
Fabulous news on the beta! Maybe it is TWINS!!! That sounds so exciting, looking forward to hearing about your upcoming sonogram which will be here before you know it!

Just-so-lost,
I would call the clinic back, and talk with your RE to confirm your meds. They should provide you with daily schedule of when to take them. My clinic met with us and went over how to give the injections and we practiced until we were comfortable. They should know this is your first round and give you more detailed information, so don't hesitate to call them back.

AFM: After throwing my "hissy-fit" earlier this evening, I am doing much better with taking the news that my doctor is pretty much now ruling out IUI. Even though DH's numbers look better and the S/A shows everything looks normal, the doctor says I have "symptoms" a mild case of endometriosis. I wanted DH to elaborate and explain the symptoms because never knew about this. DH said our RE can be reached anytime in the evenings, and so we will be calling him this week to elaborate. DH is trying to make me understand that we would have a stronger success with IVF, being more eggs would be monitored... I'm still on birth control and will continue on until Jan. 11th and stop for AF around mid-month. Looks like I am in a limbo right now, but will be praying that we make the right decision whatever it may be. We just need to compromise on something very soon.

Sunshine.12 - how did your US go today? Excited about your ER on Fri/Sat. Lots of sticky baby dust to you!

Txc - What an amazing 2nd beta! Congrats!

Kimber - Glad you found the Lupron injections easy. Gives me hope that I'll be able to successfully inject myself starting on the 6th of Jan as well! :) I'm not much of an acupuncture believer, but I heard it does wonders for some people! Best of luck with that. And it's definitely your prerogative! Hoping the 2nd candidate suits your needs and has millions and millions of swimmers! :D

Jenn - Welcome to the board. So sorry to hear about the loss of your baby at six weeks. Lots of sticky baby dust to you for the next cycle!

Justsolost - I'm sorry, I don't have valuable insight on your question, but hopefully you get the answers you need soon enough. I'm assuming there HAS to be more meds than just the lupron and BCP's. I received a box full of meds in the mail! And I received a personal calendar listing what meds I need to take day by day, including the dosage. We even had an IVF class to go over all our meds. Don't feel hesitant to call your clinic to obtain more information on this. Best of luck!

AFM - nothing new to report. Happily taking my BCP's at 8PM every night. The pills are so tiny that once I place them on my tongue and take a sip of water, I don't "feel" it going down my esophagus, and freak out that it may have accidentally fallen out of my mouth before I had the chance to swallow. And then I hunt around for the pill on the ground like a lunatic just to make sure I swallowed it, lol. Lame, I know. But I'm scared of screwing up my cycle by making a silly mistake like that. Starting Lupron in 3 days, yikes!

Ladies, I am sorry I have been MIA. I got my BFN and then was in FL with limited/no internet access for the week over New Years. It was my 3rd BFN after 3 IUIs so I was a bit down in the dumps. We have a WTF appt set for January 18th and I am really unsure what we can/should do next.

Katie: I am again so sorry for your loss...but keep up your PMA, and you are right. We will be pregnant in 2011!!!

Karian: SO AMAZING. Congratulations to you. Definitely a fabulous way to begin the New Year. Thanks so much for keeping us posted. Excellent betas! Now the wait for u/s. Glad that you are feeling good.

Ryann: Thank you so much for all your support and well wishes. I am SO HAPPY for you. Two heartbeats!!!! And, how did the wedding go? I don't know if I missed your post about it...

Leora: Sounds like life has been very busy for you with the operas. Wish we could see/hear you--I bet you are terrific! My HSG was a piece of cake--I was really worried and took some Naproxin before hand, but I went back to work afterwards with very little cramping at all. AFM I am looking into agencies, but not sure if we are “Jewish-enough” as my husband is a convert. We may do a couple more IUIs or else perhaps try to get a loan to do one IVF. Not really sure what is best. Feeling a bit at a loss right now, but have a couple weeks to figure things out. Thanks for your support--it means more than I can say.

Oh, and Greece. Ah. That was my #1 pick for our honeymoon!! But we went with Costa Rica instead--which was still very fabulous. Someday I hope to make it to Greece--if I do, you will have to give suggestions on places to stay. ENJOY your well deserved trip!!

Carol: Sorry about your negative experience with RE...sounds similar to mine...and since we are in the same state, it might even be possible! We aren’t sure our plan, but we may be starting IUI the end of January as well. No apologies needed for long stories...we are all here to listen!

Lou: I hate cars. Just for the record. I finally broke down and got myself a new car for the first time in my life a couple years ago--and it has been nothing but trouble. I can’t win where cars are concerned. Baby dust to you---would love to see you get a “natural” BFP...but regardless, 2011 is YOUR year to become a mommy.

Karieberrie: How are you feeling? Sending positive energy and prayers for you and your bean.

NWQuiz:
How are you doing lady!?!?! Ready for your BFP?! Sorry I have been gone...you should be the Mayor of Crazytown by now! When is your beta? Have you been POASing?!?! Where are our reports?

Tammy: Miss you!! Thanks for checking in. I am taking a month off and will try to get healthy as we decide for certain what to do. Perhaps we’ll be cycling together again--but regardless, wishing you the total best!!

Kat: Congratulations on getting starting! It is always exciting to start with those needles and stimming...at least for me.

Kimber:
Welcome!! No questions are “stupid” here. Feel free to ask or PM anything! I think what you are doing is awesome and very brave. The IM shots are a bit more tricky than the others, but you can do it! I made DH do all my injections for the first 2 cycles, but he is so needle phobic is was more torture for the both of us. So--now I do them myself. It takes a bit of practice, but you will be surprised what a pro you will be in no time. But--if you do have trouble, there are suppositories you can take for progesterone, and I was told they are just as effective. Regarding acupuncture, I have heard wonderful things about how it can assist with IVF/IUI and so I am using it as well. I can say that I feel very relaxed during and after my sessions...in fact, I always fall asleep for about 20 minutes with the needles in my back and legs! And, regarding your sperm donor--heck yes! You have every right to be as picky as you want to be. That is a very important decision. Good luck with the next one.

Kelly: Again, congratulations to you!!! But, very sorry about SIL and little nephew. I hope that mother and baby are doing better. Stay with us as long as you want!! We love to hear good news on how your BFP progresses.

Rio: You are always such a wealth of information for everyone. Thanks! For absolutely everything. You are a jewel.

Riya: Welcome!! Congratulations on moving through the 2ww. I will send prayers for your BFP. Will you be POASing? Or just waiting for beta?

Sunshine12: Congratulations on getting started!!

Ginger: Congratulations!!! Yippee!! Wonderful 2nd beta!

HopeisallIhave: You aren’t a lunatic..lol...just being careful. Wait until the 2ww..then you will become a lunatic! Baby dust to you!

Annashope: Congratulations my dear. I am sorry I didn’t respond/see your report. I am beyond happy for you and DH--this is so wonderful!! :D :D Thanks for sharing the u/s photo. Please keep us (me!!) updated.

Justsolost: That sounds very frustrating. Are you working with a small clinic that needs you to work around their schedule?

Jenn: Welcome!!! Sorry for your loss...I had a similar experience this summer...m/c after a few weeks of beta hell. It was so very sad and more difficult then I would have imagined. Will look forward to cheering you on. You’ve come to the best place.

Sunshine 1576: Sorry about the waiting and now confusion. UGH! Definitely get more clarification.

Anyone else: Baby dust to you all!! 2011 is going to be a great year to be pregnant!! And for those that don’t know me...I will be back in full "blinkie" mode in a few days...just need to get my mojo back.

Txcplforivf- Great second beta! Woo Hoo!

Justso lost I would call your RE tomorrow. I got a detailed list of what they were ordering and my doctor wrote down what I was going to take on what days. You deserve a lot more information. I never took bcp so can't help you there. I have a blood clotting issue so they always skip those one me.

Kimber so glad it went well. I don't know much about accupuncture but I thought about it and my doctor said the same thing, I can do it but no herbs. I also don't blame you for being picky on your sperm donor.

Jenn welcome aboard and I'm really sorry for your loss. :(

Margi, where in NC are you? I am in Wilmington.

How does endometriosis affect your fertility? I have wondered whether I have it. I seem to have alot of the symptoms, but it has never been brought up to me. Would they have noticed it in my laproscopic surgery? I had alot of adhesions that had to be removed. I also always have a thick lining each cycle - which I know is good, but you would think with all of the clomid I have been on, it would have been thin - usually measures 12-14mm. What do they do for endo if you are going through fertility treatments? Do they do anything different or is there medication to help?

MARGI Image And on my email I said Micro IVF, I meant Mini IVF! :)

Riya - good luck with your HPT!

Hope - you cracked me up! Did you faint when you saw the box of meds?

Sunshine1576 - I hope you get your answers on why you can't do an IUI.

justsolost - my old clinic only did IVF cycles every other month, could it be they are making you wait for more people or their calendar? Did you have a cyst before?

Kimber - yickes! Of course you should change your donor! What made you decide against an anonymous donor? Just curious. Good luck finding a super guy! What characteristics were you looking for?

jmbella - welcome!

Heather - how are you hun? Lots of PMA for your next cycle I hope and a big surprise for DH! Has he left yet?

txcp - CONGRATULATIONS! Awesome beta!

Bakers - I am glad your SIL is off the ventilator, many prayers for your nephew! I understand being scared, I didn't go to the other side until after the HB.

Sweetpea - must be hard to have DH gone so much. Hopefully DH will get out of Jury Duty!

Leora - I totally understand questioning your faith after all you have gone through. I hope that when you get your baby, in this next cycle, you will rediscover your faith. Again huge hugs and I am so sorry for all you have gone through. You are a strong woman with a loving DH.

AFM - got full blown early Gestational Diabetes. Making an appt to get my insulin cause diet alone will not control it, starving and having high blood sugar is a terrible combination right now and the only way to fix it is insulin. All for a great cause right!!!!!

So I'm slightly annoyed. I'm 2 days shy of starting Lupron and my clinic calls me this morning saying that DH needs to have his infectious diseases retested because his labs expire in early Feb. Additionally, he needs to get tested for HTLV 1 and 2. The case manager wants this done right away. When I had talked to her a month ago, she said we're clear on the labs, that nothing more is needed from the either of us. And now this. Luckily, DH had taken the day off from work by calling in sick an hour before due to lack of sleep, but he's beyond pissed that this was not brought up earlier. And now we have to rush to the lab to get his blood drawn, sigh.

Welcome to all the new people and CONGRATUALTIONS!!! on the positives!!!

Ryan: wow! congrats!!!

AFM: had my WTH appointment today... no actual explanation as to why nothing has worked, ever...... my RE said to keep on trying... this cycle was better than all the previous ones... so who knows... We're out of pocket so it's hard to just keep on trying... (you know what I mean...)
Been really sad since the BFN and the birthmother deciding not to give the baby up for adoption... actually feeling devastated...
Trying to feel better... but this time its being harder than all the rest... not sure why... Anyway...

Never got full AF after the IVF so they drew some labs today... will let you know what is up with that... (maybe once AF comes I'll feel better and it's the weird hormones making me feel blue...) :|

Got some quotations to try to improve the PMA!!

Hope we all have a wonderful 2011 and all of our dreams come true!!!
