Greetings ladies :D

Sorry I've been a wee bit absent in posts, but I have been lurking in the background reading the happenings.

Akua-I think I can help answer some of your questions and maybe they will also address some of your concerns. These answers are from my own experience. 2005 I had an abdominal myomectomy to remove a very large fibroid from my uterine wall. In 2008 I gave birth to my wonderfull DD via c-section. The main reason for the c-section was to to avoid going into active labor and thus minimize the risk of uterine rupture which inturn minimized the risk to me and DD. When the fibroid was removed the surgeon had to cut through several layers of the ueterine musculature which increased the risk of uterine rupture. Additionally, the location of the fibroid was concern. I'm sure if you ask the doctors what their reasoning for the c-section is. They may give you a better picture of why. The surgeon will not know untill they are performing the procedure how many layers they will have to cut into for the removal. The VBAC situation is a little different in that today the procedure is done low on the uterus. Although completely cutting through the layers to access baby, the risk of rupture based upon location of surgical scar is less risky than in the many body of the organ. As far as the recovery; everybody recovers at different rates. 2-6 weeks is the standard line for this operation. If your recovery goes swimmingly they should clear you immediately for tmt cycle.

In the very least I wish you the very best. I encourage you to continue to ask questions of your health proffessionals.

Hi to everyone-wishing all well.

Hi,
Just keeping everyone up to date. Had ER today. They got 10 eggs (most so far) - I am not getting too excited yet. They let me see my records everytime and I am learning more and more - and from what I see - I think there should be 4-5 mature (and will hopefully fertilize). The RE was pleased and actually smiled (if you knew him you would see the humor in what I just said). Anyway, the RE mentioned doing a 5 day transfer instead of 3 day. I still think it will be a 3 day, but we have to wait til tomorrow to hear the fertilization results. I am hoping "Spike" is helping us from above to get him a sibling.
I will keep you posted.

Sorry for not updating sooner - just been a busy and hectic weekend.
Well - of the 10 eggs - 9 were mature - and 6 fertilized (this time DH's sperm was great so there were 3 fertilized naturally and 3 ICSI). It was an interesting ET - since they said the would call Sunday and tell me if it was Sunday (either 10 or 11:30) or Tuesday. Add into the mix that my Acupuncturist's DD was graduating from Law School on Sunday at 1:30pm. We did the acuputure for the 10am procedure, but they never called -so when I called them they - at 10 am - the embryologist just walked in with results. She confered with RE and the transfer was confirmed to be Sunday at 1:15pm. So I had to go back to the acupunturist for another pre-treatment and yes she did miss the graduation ceremony because we still had to do a post-treatment. Her DD knew it was a possibility and said it was OK to miss the ceremony as long as she made it later for picutres (which she did), but I am insisting on buying her a DVD (the school sells them of the ceremony). OK - now add into this - we got a call to show our place (it has been on the market for over a year) at 2pm. I said "no" I was having a medical procedure and could not do it. The receptionist was snotty so I called our realtor (who is a friend and knows what we are doing) so she called the other realator to "explain" and try and set up another appointment. Yes, all this happened within about 1 hour. UGHHH. What a "relaxing" time -NOT. So the end result is that we had 5 good eggs left that are (cell # - grading 1-4, 4 being the best) of 8-4, 8-3, 7-3, 10-3, and 12-4. We put them all back. The RE agreed that the 10 and 12 were iffy and so was the 7, so in reality we got 2 good shots this time - YEAH !! I hope and pray this one works !!

Yasmina:

Thanks! I had the ultrasound today. The right ovary was "on vacation" and the left ovary was working hard. I had 2 mature follicles and 1 smaller one on the left ovary (21x23, 18x22 & 13x12). My endometrium lining was 10.8. I was supposed to do the hcg trigger shot today, but can you believe no pharmacy around here had the drug????? I had to order it from an online pharmacy. It will be here tomorrow morning. I will do the shot in the morning and then IUI in the afternoon. My Ob/Gyn said, "those are not the ovaries of a 45 year old". I also saw the new RE at my Ob/Gyn's office. I liked him and he said that we may want to do a gonal-f cycle with IUI. In the past, I responded well to the gonal-f. I may try a few Femara cycles and then onto a gonal-f cycle.

Take care all,
Tammy

Tammy,

Sounds great! As I stated before, the success of IUI depends largely of the person who performs it. If you like your RE and he has been proven successful, your chance is high. Every parameter that I know is good in your this cycle. I am also very happy that your RE recognized your "young" ovaries. You are lucky in this. I think we are now expecting good result!

Sorry that your local stores don't carry fertility drugs, fortunately the online stores are good now. Good luck.

Tracy,

How is your 2ww? I am always very anxious. Are you going to do home tests?

Hi to others here!

Yasimna - the 2ww is going quick - reason being that there is so much going on. I have tonight and tomorrow night to pack, because Friday night DH and I have tickets to a play and we leave Sat at 7am. for FL. So, got lots to do by then. Then once on vacation - I hope to stay busy enough to not worry. I am having my test down there on Thursday, and since we are not bring our computers I won't be able to report in until that Sunday (after we get back) - that is unless I find an internet place down there. I have been "talking" to the little guys - just hope they are listening.

It's nice to have a lot to do during 2ww to take the pressure and the mind off the thing. Have fun in Florida!
