Sorry I've been a wee bit absent in posts, but I have been lurking in the background reading the happenings.
Akua-I think I can help answer some of your questions and maybe they will also address some of your concerns. These answers are from my own experience. 2005 I had an abdominal myomectomy to remove a very large fibroid from my uterine wall. In 2008 I gave birth to my wonderfull DD via c-section. The main reason for the c-section was to to avoid going into active labor and thus minimize the risk of uterine rupture which inturn minimized the risk to me and DD. When the fibroid was removed the surgeon had to cut through several layers of the ueterine musculature which increased the risk of uterine rupture. Additionally, the location of the fibroid was concern. I'm sure if you ask the doctors what their reasoning for the c-section is. They may give you a better picture of why. The surgeon will not know untill they are performing the procedure how many layers they will have to cut into for the removal. The VBAC situation is a little different in that today the procedure is done low on the uterus. Although completely cutting through the layers to access baby, the risk of rupture based upon location of surgical scar is less risky than in the many body of the organ. As far as the recovery; everybody recovers at different rates. 2-6 weeks is the standard line for this operation. If your recovery goes swimmingly they should clear you immediately for tmt cycle.
In the very least I wish you the very best. I encourage you to continue to ask questions of your health proffessionals.
Hi to everyone-wishing all well.
