Well it's true. I just did a "quick" check of this board. We are from IN, IL, TN, PA, WA, and of course AK (yep - just had to look up the AK - almost said you came from Alabama, AL).

Kat,

How are you doing?

Acornmom: Congrats on the twins!!!!

Yasmina: "The hag" visited me Saturday evening. I am on Cycle day 4; day two of taking my Femara. I have an ultrasound scheduled next Tuesday (CD11). Hopefully, I will be ready and can just have DH administer the HCG shot, start taking prog. supp. and then have relations. The Femara cycles are sooooooooooo much easier and less stressful than the injectible ones.

Take care all,
Tammy

Kat - I am soooooo sorry. I really did think it worked because of all your "different" symptoms. I realize you will not post for awhile, don't worry - we will be here if/when you decide to return. I hope your healing time goes fast and things look better soon. You are STILL in my prayers!!
If I remember correctly you still have some frosties waiting.

Try to keep your chin up,

Kat,

I am so sorry for your news. We all feel sad and hopeless when this happens, things run through our minds normally include too much unknown and uncertain in front of us, especially with the increasing age!!!! However, I do hope that you can regroup fast and believe that a happy future is in front of you, a bit further away from today, but it should not be too far. Let's say, by the end of this year?

Tammy,

I am sorry things did not go as we hoped this time. I am gald that you are already moving on to next cycle. This is the good thing about IUI, you can quickly act on. I am happy that you are full of hope and this positive vibe is very powerful and important. I often see people who are quite amazed by my age since they can hardly see a close to 50 yr woman at the starting point of everything - a family, a career, a new life in another country...

Anyway, I am coming here almost daily because I like to find inspirations from our own age group of people. Like Tracy said, this is not a thread, it is home.

Take care, everyone here!

Hello Everyone:

I would love to join this board if I am welcome; it is much different when you’re in your 40’s.

I have been on and off these boards but always check to see how everyone has been doing.

Within about 3 years I have had 4 IUI’s (w: clomid) and 4 IVF’s; hopefully will be starting IUI (with medication) again soon.

Here is my long story.
I am currently 41 turning 42 in August. My husband and I got married later in life. We have one adopted son that my husband adopted as a single male prior to us getting married (from Romania).
I have gone thru four failed IUI's (using clomid). My first IVF was a BFN; my second IVF was in March, 2008, a BFP (twins) but ended in a miscarriage and possibly an etopic pregnancy at 8 weeks. My beta numbers started out great but didn't quite double; so I knew something was going on. My third IVF was also a BFN.

My 4th IVF this past October, 2008, did do acupuncture (I strongly advice everyone to do this) it gave me twins (boy and girl); which I delivered on March 7th and lost at 22 weeks due to premature labor; my water broke at 19 weeks and an infections set-in at 22 weeks where I had to deliver; a terrible thing that I wouldn’t want to see anyone go thru. If I had made it to 24 week there would be a chance for the babies. This was my last IVF covered by insurance.

So I am back looking to do IUI if I can. I currently have one tube and the doctor just check to see if it was open due to the etopic pregnancy I had about a year and a half ago. Well it is closed as I figured, so I am scheduled for surgery on the 19th of this month. I also have a few fibroids on my uterus so he is going to take care of both.

If he is able to open my tube I will be trying IUI again but this time with the medication. We really can’t really afford to do IVF.

Here is my question, since I have one tube and normally an egg is released from one ovary each month is it different using the fertility drugs. Will both ovaries release mature eggs once you take the trigger shot? If not, my chances of getting pregnant are really slip since the ovary on the opposite side where the tube is not has no way of getting there, I guess it can happen but slim chance. Please let me know if you any idea.

Thank you for listening.

Kat - I am soooooo sorry for your news. Hopefully you are able to try again soon. I strongly suggest acupuncture the way it was explained to me is that the blood flood to our uterus only occurs during child bearing years from when you first get your period to age 35. After 35 the blood flow is directed to other organs in your body. Acupuncture redirects the blood flow to your uterus to help support a pregnancy. You will just need to find an acupuncturist in your area that specializes with infertility.

Acornmom: Congrats on the twins!!!! Don’t want to alarm you but anytime to think something just isn’t right call your doctor; don’t ask anyone everyone is different. I had a small about of discharge which I was told by everyone is normally for 19 week just happen to be that my water was getting ready to break. I was doing great and found out at my normal doctor’s appointment. If I had called the doctor earlier I may still be pregnant at this time; my delivery date was July 11th.

Everyone else I hope things are going well.

Sha1: Welcome to our site. I am so sorry to hear your heart wrenching story about your twins. I cannot imagine how awful that would be.

If you are taking follicle stimulating drugs, both ovaries usually produce eggs. I was taking Femara my last cycle and I got 3 follicles on the left ovary only. I think that is unusual. When I was doing injectible cycles (gonal-f), I got multiple follicles on both ovaries.

We are doing a few rounds of Femara and then a couple of gonal-f with IUI. We don't want to do any more IVF due to the cost and stress. The Femara cycles are so much easier, cheaper and less stressful. Of course I'm aware that the chances of pregnancy are less than with an injectible drug and IVF.

Yasmina: Thanks for the encouragement. I am always upbeat, as you are aware, I still have my back-up adoption plan. I feel very blessed to have my dear Andrew! He is such a joy.

Take care all,
Tammy

Sha1 - welcome to the "oldies club". I think since you are taking drugs you should be producing eggs from both overies - that shoud give you a shot each month. Good luck, I will add you to my "baby dust prayer list".

I am sorry to hear you story. I know how you feel - we lost ours at 36 weeks - I could have had a deliver and things would be fine, but nobody knew anything was wrong til the DR appt. I try not do the "what if's", but..... You know the feeling. I do hope each day is better then the last. Nobody should have to go through that - it just SUCKS !! (that is me trying to be polite and politically correct)

Anyway, welcome aboard and keep us posted. Remember here is a place to rant/rave, complain, celebrate, scream, laugh, and every other emotion there is.

Hope to hear some good news soon.

Good morning ladies. I'm just trying to keep our thread at the top of the list so we don't have to weed through the viagra ads. There should be a way that the list moderator can weed out this spam.
