Hi everyone,

Paula, I am so sorry about yout test result..... do they know what went wrong? sounds like we are going through same frustration right now.....with mine they did not really give me an explanation to why my body went up a poo creek (but I am ok because that was my first attempt at IVF). Please keep your chin up.

Belinda! I am doing ok, my hubby has gone back into the cyber space - we chat on every night :). Hey, have you started your work yet? My work is going fine as. I am also helping company social club with organising Xmas functions. Can you believe it, Xmas already! I will be in UK for Xmas this year, seriously though I just want this year to be over for me...I have had soooo many distruptions, I just want some normailty? back in my life. Happy to hear that little Annie is doing super lately... so she is 1 in 6 weeks time! I bet you have a huge party planned her as well :!: :!: :!: .

Heather, I am excited that you are starting on your sims. I hope you didn't injure yourself with the prickly needle this morning. I didn't even get to your stage with my first attempt, I am very envious of you right now - Good Luck Buddy!! And I have my fingers and toes crossed for your team this weekend. I had a ball at my mates on the weekend, Swanies played so well but the highlight of the day for me came afterwards when my friend's DH got so tanked..... he puked in their washing machine .

Josie, nice to hear from you. Big Congrats on your baby girl 8). Have you decided on her name yet? Glad you enjoyed your holiday but I know what you mean by missing(?) your work. I think when you go off for 12 months next year you will really enjoy your break and like you say - you will relax more. Take it easy!!!

I better change my ticker again - next time I see my hubby.. is...after 57 sleeps  . Count down is on....again.... .

Cheers, Tiger

I am so sorry I have not posted in such a long time. I have been working my little butt off this week!!!!

Wow, so much has been happening with everyone! Paula, I'm so disappointed for you (believe me, I know all about IVF disappointment!). All I can say is hang in there.

Tiger - I am really hoping your body starts behaving itself! I hate being in 'Limbo' as you are. I much prefer to be in the middle of a treatment cycle. Not only were we cycle buddies together, but now we can be 'Limbo' buddies!!!!!

We had our follow up appointment today, to find out what went so wrong last time. I was so nervous beforehand. It turned out to be a bad luck thing. They could not find anything specific that went wrong - just plain old bad luck. Our Dr feels it was more a problem with stimulation - and he has assured me that this can be rectified. He was very positive & kind to us about everything & listened to our concerns. Next time we will up the dose of puregon, do ICSI & a blastocyst transfer. He feels there is no medical reason for the ICSI, but we will do it anyway to maximise our chances. Sounds good to me!!! We will start in January.

Josie - Wow! Things are really moving along beautifully for you. Please keep us updated

Heather - I really hope that your next cycle is a complete success. I think you and I have had enough bad luck with our cycles to last a lifetime! Surely our time should be just around the corner?!?!

I was so sad Mig did not win Rockstar INXS! I was hoping to keep the band all Aussie - or maybe I need to get a life & stop watching so much reality tv!!!!!! (but I love it soooo much  )

Take care

MissMolly,

hiya! I was just on another web site and then I saw you here. How are you? So we are now limbo-buddies  . I am happy that your doc was kind and he listened to you. Did he say anything about effect of taking acu sessions during your last cycle? I am not sure whether to go back or not. I have no idea when AF will show next so I can't really plan for my next tmt. However I am hoping it will show by Feb next year because there is an opening again at work, it would be perfect me if I can start tmt again at that time.... fingers crossed. And if that is the case we might be a cycle buddies again. Yay.

Cheers, Tiger

Hi ladies,

Sorry for being a stranger for so long. These last few weeks have been a bit busy for me with a series of visitors, a book deadline, computer problems and being away on holidays.

I've tried to catch up with everyone's news and it sounds like a lot's been happening, with some ups and downs. Heather, Tiger, Paula, Miss Molly I'm thinking of you all and hoping that your next cycles go really well and that for those of you in between cycles, you're taking good care of yourselves.

Bel, all the best with the return to work. I can imagine you have mixed feelings about it, but am sure both you and Annie will adjust beautifully.

Jo I was so excited to hear that you're expecting a little girl - many congratulations!

I'm fine, 19 weeks PG now and my due date has been brought forward to Feb 16th. We had my 18 week scan and it was wonderful to be able to watch the bub on screen for over an hour. All looks fine and is progressing well. The bub was camera shy though and kept his/her legs crossed so we couldn't find out the gender! DH was actually quite pleased as I'd talked him into finding out, so now we're happy to leave it as a surprise.

As we just got back from holidays last night I've got some unpacking and a tonne of washing to do, so I better sign off for now.

Hugs to all,
Deanne

Hi all,
Wow!, I'm away for one day and look at all the posts to read!, lovely to hear from everyone.

Annie and I are doing well, I get back to work on Monday of next week, keep everything crossed for me, I remain quite nervous. I only go back for one and a hlaf days with Qld Health, then half a day in my private practice, so nothing tooooo scarey, but still nerve wracking. The last twelve months have been such a new world and a huge learning experience, I worry that I'll forget the basic details at work (not to mention the more complex stuff!)..

Paula, how are you??, you know wer're here when you want to vent..

Tiger, sorry dh has left again, you must rack up the hours on the phone and internet chatting. So you are waiting for af to show up??, will she take long do you think? (the million dollar question really I guess!!)..How is work going for you?

Deanne, so pleased that the pregnancy is progressing well and that bub is doing so well. I loved the 18 week scan, so much detail to be seen..did you do the 4D imaging??

MissMolly, pleased that your follow up appointment went well, good to get some answers, even if it's being told that there was no medical reason for what occurred last cycle. Sounds like your doctor is pulling out all stops for your next cycle which is wonderful, all the things you describe (ICSI, blasto transfer ets) I think are associated with much higher preg rates, so that's excellent!

Jo, how are you going??buying lots of pink things I hope!!

Hiya Ladies,

angel, BIG WELCOME to you. I hope you find this site as helpful as I do, we have a super bunch of gals here at Aussies/Kiwis thread  . So you are on Day 8 of your stim, I am happy to hear that the scan went really well. 14 eggs, wow, that is excellent, good luck with EC. Keep us posted on how you go.

Deanne, how are you? sounds like your pregnancy is really going smoothly. Can you imagine, what a romantic gift will the baby be if he/she arrives on the St.V Day ... . Oh by the way, you don't need to apologise for not being around, you must be busy with baby's arrival scheduled so soon.... just want you to know that you are my inspiration, just like Bel and Josie - just having you guys around proves that IVF does work ; so no need to stress, just visit when you can.

Bel, back to work next week... I have my fingers, toes and everything else crossed for you. Don't get nervous, I know you will do brilliantly - trust me 8) !!

Tomorrow is a Scarey DVD Night for me, it will just be like a pajama party but with R rated horror movies? I am not a big fan of blood and guts.... hopefully it will be a Japanese type horror  .

Have a lovely Friday everyone,

Cheers, Tiger

Hey Angel, welcome!, so glad that you found us!..I'm a Qld girl myself, I had treatment at QFG in Qickham Terrace..I assume you're going through Nambour (Sellengor Provate Hospital..no idea of spelling of sellengor sorry!!)..As Tiger has already said, 14 is a GREAT number..does this mean egg pick up for Monday morning??..All the best, make sure you post to let us know whoe it all goes.

Tiger, I HATE horror movies..I get far too scared!!! (I am a bit of a wuss I think!!)..hope you enjoy it though and it helps pass the hubby away time a little faster.

Have a great weekend to all. It's really hot here today, its 10am and I have the air con on already!!!

Hi All....welcome to the weekend!!

Welcome aboard also to Angel. I am another Qld'er and hail from Rockhampton or the gap in the map as it is better known. I am currently on day 7 of stims and am scheduled for EC on Thursday, Friday or Saturday of next week so we will be close together in timing and can spend the wonderful 2ww checking symptoms together...yay! I have made some enquiries with the Sunny Coast IVF group about future treatments and they sound really great...if that is who you are using you are in good hands. They sound like they care.

How did the scary movie night go Tiger? I love horror movies but I need to watch them in the dark when DH is out of town to get the full effect. There is nothing like lying in bed in a quiet house wondering what kind of nastiness is out there waiting for you. These are generally the nights that the dogs will bark for no apparent reason just to ensure I get no sleep! I am counting down the days with you until you and hubby are reunited...is he coming here or are you going home?

Belinda, enjoy your last weekend of maternity leave. Wishing you all the luck in the world for next week and I am sure that it won't be too long before you feel like you have never been away. Hugs to Miss Boo and go the Tigers.

Deanne, glad to hear everything is going ok..albeit busy! Hope you had a great holiday and did manage to relax a bit in amongst all the craziness. You write books? How exciting. Throw us some titles so we can have a bit of a gander....provided, that is, that you don't write things like Nuclear Physics for Dummies or similar....not really my thing.

Josie, congrats on the baby girl! It must be so much easier to plan ahead when you know the sex of the baby. Commiserations to your son, at least he has a little while to get used to the idea of another sister and what the hey, sisters are great!

MissMolly, I guess it is a good thing that the clinic didn't find anything wrong. It must be hard to be told it was just bad luck though...couldn't they have been a bit more scientific! At least with the ICSI you can be sure it won't happen again. I hope you have managed to have a few days off and recover from your marathon working week(?). Two of my sisters are nurses so I have a bit of an understanding of how hard you work and how exhausting it is. Relax and think of NY.

Paula, I am pleased that your daughter is feeling better...she has certainly given you a lot of worry over the years! I am sure the pleasure she has provided you far outweighs the worry though. Any news on where you go from here following your FSH results? Do they just keep testing every month until it is ok? From the little bit of reading I have done on the subject, there appears to be little rhyme or reason to changes in FSH and it seems to be almost impossible to predict what the levels are going to be. I am willing your FSH to come down..NOW... so you can move on with another treatment.

I am starting to feel quite bloated (not that this has meant much in the past) and I have my scan and BT on Tuesday to see when (and if) we proceed to EC. I am really hating the sniffing this time around, well, more so than usual. I am experiencing hot flushes which I haven't had before and I think I have a little bit of hayfever which isn't helping. I think, like Tiger, I will be asking for injectibles next time around (already doing that next time thing). If it doesn't work this time, we are going to take a break until next year to explore our options and because I am just so tired....I have spent the best part of this year doing IVF. My Dr instilled a sense of panic when we first started, due to my age, but I don't think a couple of months will make much difference. I would love the opportunity to get back into a normal exercise routine and just start feeling healthy again.

Well, enough moaning from me. Have a great weekend everyone. We have broken with tradition and are not hosting the footy grand final this year. We generally set up the projector and the big screen and I spend the night running around feeding and watering people. This year I want to watch the game so DH and I have organised a party for two (well, six if you include the pets who absolutely love the excitement and noise associated with us watching the footy). Plus we are the only two (sorry three, if you include Belinda) Tigers supporters in a state gone Cowboy crazy and don't want to be around any of those nasty big hats. We live in a very quiet street full of high set houses with timber floors so we will spend the night trying to out perform the neighbours with our floor stomping and hollering each time my team scores (ever the optimist). This happens during state of origin and it is a sight (or rather sound) to behold.

Sorry about the rambling, I do go on! I have an assignment due and I am doing everything in my power to avoid it.

Take care ladies.

Just a short one for Heather and Bel,

GO TIGERRRRRRRRRRRS!

Cheers, Tiger

PS. Video night was really good, we watched The Ring 1 & 2. Not too scarey, not too bad. I got hold of Three Colours Blue, White and Red so I will watch that tomorrow quitely on my own (Heather I could never watch Horror Movies on my own btw - you are brave).

PPS. 51 sleeps to go...

Hi all,

Well, first day back for me yesterday, and it went pretty well I would have to say. Annie had a lovely time with her dad, and I quite enjoyed being around big people all day. I had to resist the urge to blow raspberries most of the day..this is Annie's favourite thing in the whole wide world so I am quite used to doing this regularly!!!..Though the state of Qld Health at the moment (sure most of you have seen the media) maybe I should be engaging in a bit of rasberry blowing!. Work side of things was fine, I saw a couple of patients on the wards and some outpatients, amazing how the clinical / technical side of your work comes back to you..kind of like riding a bike I guess..

Hope all are well and enjoyed the Tigers victory on Sunday night.

Belinda, I am so glad that work and home went well. It must be a relief. I think that Qld Health needs a bit more than raspberries...but it's a start!

Loved the footy on Sunday...at least I can go to my grave knowing that my team won a premiership...don't think it will happen again. Yay Tigers.

I had my scan and BT today. E2 at 5000 which is the best I have ever had with 5 perfect follies on the left and 6 smaller on the right. Dr is hoping the others will increase in size but he is confident we will get at least 5 eggs. He said my ovaries appeared to be working independently of one another but this was just one of the mysteries of the human body! I am pretty happy with the results in any case....I am kind of resigned to the fact that we may never have any embies to freeze and if all goes well, that won't be an issue (note the positive attitude). EC is scheduled for Friday morning with ET on either Sunday or Monday. Keep ya fingers crossed for me!

Hope everyone is really well and enjoying the sweltering heat of an early summer!

Cheers

Oh, Heather - that is a wonderful news!!!!!! I am sooo happy for you. FANTASTIC :) . I will be thinking of you all day Friday and I've got all my little fingers and toes and everything else crossed for you. Can't stop smiling right now, that is such a great great news. And Tigers did well on Sunday night didn't they 8) - bet you, DH and the animals made a hell of a noise to cheer them on, you made a good choice by not hosting your party this year  .

Bel, you sound f-i-n-e my lady. I am ecstatic that your work went well, we told you everything will turn out ok remember  and very happy that Annie and DH looked after themselves good too. I am sure Johnie thrived on one-on-one with Annie :!: :!: ; well done to all of you.

I feel like my body is moving on a bit, I am getting zits on face - that to me is a sign of hormones playing up. I usually hate this but this time - it's ok :). I think in about 10 days time AF will show; unfortunately that is too late to begin my next tmt as I have decided on Christmas at UK but at least I will have my body back.

Everyone else, I hope all is well with you all. Take care.

Cheers, Tiger

Thanks Tiger, you are a star. Glad to hear your hormones seem to be sorting themselves out. They should be well and truly back to normal by the time your treatment starts. Isn't it funny how zits and AF can seem like a good thing when you are doing IVF. :D If it makes you feel any better, I think the IVF drugs actually help your body to sort out any hormonal problems. I used to have a very regular 28 day cycle and then about 2 years ago it suddenly changed to 25 days, still very regular just shorter. My last break cycle was exactly 28 days almost down to the minute! I will be interested to see if this continues or if it was just a one off.

How exciting for you, a white Christmas! A far cry from the 40 degree heat in Melbourne at that time of year. Where abouts in the UK do your in-laws live and do you go back to Japan before you go to the UK or will you catch up with DH over there? God I am nosey.

Hope you are all having a great week.

Cheers

Hey gals,

Lovely to hear from my positive little aussie mates!! :D

Tiger, it is weird how we celebrate the funny things whilst on IVF. Never before had I celebrated the arrival of AF, but whilst waiting to start my first cycle I was never so happy to see her!!..I agree with Heather, my experience is that IVF seems to have shortened my cycles as well. I was always a 35 day girl (it seemed a looooooong time!), but now am 28 days. I have only had a couple of visits from af since having Annie, the breastfeeding seems to supress ovulation, strangely though I get quite down whenever it happens now. I don't think that we're desperately trying to get pregnant again, but we're not using contraceptive, maybe I just find it hard to give up that hope!?!?! Am also very jealous of the white christmas. I had a Christmas in Scotland many moons ago, it was divine, we ate roast goose, dranks hot alcoholic beverages and went ice skating...ahhhhh!!!

Heather, fab news re. at least five eggies, that's great news!!..I, like Tiger have everything crossed for you. I'm off to Sydney for a long weekend with Johnie and Annie, but will keep an eye on how things are progressing via my dad's computer..Please make sure you let us know how it all goes!!

take care all
