Randa, that must have been a really tough decision. I'm glad you had the wedding distraction (I must find where you've posted the details of that) but I know it hurts like hell to have the rug pulled out from under your feet at the 11th hour. If it's not too soon to ask, what next?

Kat - not sure if you got any answers re. sperm/trigger etc. Unless I'm very confused the sperm is far, far more than just a trigger. It contains all the male DNA etc. so after fertilisation, it and the egg become one and jointly form the new entity. If anyone is laughing loudly now because I missed 3rd year biology, please put me right!

Hi Jane, nice to see you back. Just tell the mirror every morning, 'wow I'm nearing 40 and have never looked better'...should help a little :)

Caroline. I can see a message re. disappointment with your tmt but not the details. I'll look on the month threads for your update. The accupuncture sounds interesting though, do you tell people the mustard seeds are avant garde decoration??

BigJ - how are you doing?

Jill - if you're resting up after tmt, I hope you're feeling well and positive.

I'm doing nothing more than staying indoors, in the dry and slighly warm. It is very cold right now, peeing rain and low, low temps. Go June! I reassure myself that this weather is good for my skin.....vanity thy name is Debra.....

Hi Debra

I'm confused about the message about disappointment with my treatment as I haven't sent anything or posted anything like that. Is it a different Caroline or is someone impersonating me?!

Sorry you're having such crap weather, especially as I keep banging on about how lovely it is here. But you know how rare a good British summer day can be so I have gloat while it's here!

I can't decide whether the seeds look like cute little decorations or particularly huge blackheads (yeuch!). I've got long hair which generally covers my ears, so no one's really noticed - or at least they haven't said anything (getting paranoid now). Even with DH, who I have to say is not especially observant but who does get closer to my ears than most people, I had to point them out.

bye for now

Hi girls,

Thanks for all the best wishes, sorry I havn't been on the board for a while
but my dad got taken into hospital on Sunday ended up in the spinal unit of James Cooke which is over an hour away from where i live so havn't had the chance. he is ok and hopefully coming home today but havn't had as much rest as i would like but my poor mum carn't drive and has been in a bit of a state.

The et went fine but as predicted was nothing left to freeze so fingers crossed girls.

they said they were pleased with the ones they put back and were pleased they had waited till 5 days as the ones they would have chosen to go back on day 3 stopped growing on day 4. I don't know what to think about this as who is to say they wouldn't have carried on growing if they were in the womb? maybe they stopped cos they were in a dish!!

Randa when is the big day hope you are enjoying the preps and not getting too stressed out you will have to post some pictures!

bigj hoe are you going feeling well i hope

and everyone else hope you all have the sunshine we have got today!! immediately makes you more positive!!

I am testing on the 18th by the way but trying not to think about it too much df is sooooo exited i hope it works! he is scaring me he is so sure it has worked and i don't want him to be dissapointed( slapped hand for thinking that!) but you know what i mean.

havn't had time to read the board thoroughly so forgive me if i have missed any news but i am thinking about everone and willing everyone a fantastic june!!

take care

Jill - the 18th will be here before you know it. esp if you're busy driving your Mum to and from the hospital. I hope for all your sakes your dad recovers quickly and is safely home soon. Good luck with the rest of your 2ww. Optimistic DFs are lovely, but wearing!

Caroline, it was your reference to a 'bleak and fearful Monday'. I misunderstood and assumed I'd missed something negative. Glad that you're feeling more optimistic. Let's hope the mustard seeds stay hidden!!

Jill I'm so glad ET went well. How many embies did you have put back? Do they still put 3 back with a blasto transfer? Sorry to hear about your Dad, it's the last thing you need right now. Glad he's out of hospital. In a funny way, I guess it gives you something else to think about rather than obsessing about the 2ww (don't want that to sound like I'm wishing illness on your Dad. Is it time I stopped digging?!)

Debra, I get it now. No nothing much at all is happening with my treatment, down regging is really quite dull and I don't feel like it's happening yet. I just really faced up to how scared I am, though I'm definitely calmer now.

Randa hope the wedding plans are going well. Being a bride is really exciting, so make the most of it!

Caroline,
they put 2 embri's back i had decided anyway just to have 2 but could have had 3 at either stage, but as it happened only 2 reached blast stage anyway.

Yes you are right I have had no time this week to think too much and I have been surprised at the speed this week is going! Dad is doing marvelous, he had MAJOR surgery on his spinal column on Mon, and he WALKED out of the hospital today we couldn't believe it he is nearly 70 and I love him dearly so have been v worried. soo pleased to have him home.

I am exited to hear all about your wedding randa sorry i must have missed somewhere, where in the world do you live?

Take care girls

Jill

D'you mind me asking why you opted to have 2 put back instead of 3? I've been planning on going for 3 (assuming I have 3) to maximise my chances - do you think the risk of triplets is too great?

Glad to hear about your dad - he must be in fantastic shape to have walked out of hospital after that kind of surgery. I'm amazed he's out of hospital at all. BTW Randa is in Seattle.

I am really feeling my age - just discovered that my younger cousin, who is about to hit 40, is going to be a grandmother twice over. Her daughter and her son's girlfriend are both pregnant. I know she started much too young (accidental teenage pregnancy) but it does make me realise that I've started rather too late. Oh well, can't turn the clock back now.

Hi Caroline,

Just my two cents... I think the risk of twins, let alone triplets, at 43 is very minimal. And at 42, after having three eight-cell embryos (two grade A, one grade B) transferred in May with none taking, I'd say go for three if you have three!!

Just a humble opinion from someone who would transfer 4 if she could and was allowed! ;-)

Hi girls just a quick post from me to let you know I am alright now.

We had a terrible scare this week as the evening after the scan I had bleeding which went on most of Tuesday night. At the time it seemed like the end of the world as there were lumps (TMI sorry). We were up all night convinced we had lost our little tapas baby, made all the worse having seen it on the screen that afternoon. I went to the gynae for an emergency appt Wed morning by which time the bleeding had stopped. She did a scan and everything is still there   she said the blood was bright red which meant it was from the cervix and must have been provoked by the Chlamidya swab the other doctor had taken (   ). I had those tests before ET to avoid just that, so I was quite furious about it I can tell you, wont do that again!!! I will make sure I am completely in control of any further invasive investigations!!!. It had also seemed much more blood than it was because of the fluid from the pessaries, and the lumps from the pessary capsules (they are not chalky but in a kind of skin) she said - which was quite sensible. Also I had no pains or cramps which were a good sign. So anyway she has condemned me to complete rest for a week   She is a real sweetie I have to say, I cried all over her, and she knows how long we have been waiting. So good news is that I have no bleeding since then, so it seems like an isolated episode, so I hope this experience helps someone to avoid the same thing!!! Next scan 17th, this time should see heartbeat

Have been reading your news girls and am thinking of you. When we had 3 embies put back at IM they said <5% chance of triplets and 20% chance of twins. This of course with donor eggs from a 23 year-old. From my 3 I now have 1 lovely healthy brave little sweetie. I would have 3 put back again.

Will catch up properly tomorrow, of back to the sofa again

Love and kisses

BigJ .. Oh my dear - I'm sorry you've both been through the mill and relieved to hear everything's turned out well. As you say, all so uneccessary too.

I hope you don't read this message until next Friday ... if you do, it means you're not resting on that sofa ... Go on - feet up again !

Take extra special care ..

Big J

what an awful ordeal. I'm really glad to hear that all is now well. If you don't mind me asking, why on earth were they doing a chlamydia swab at this stage in the proceedings? Isn't that just part of the initial "causes of infertility" investigations? BTW I'm not expecting an answer to this for ages, as you should have your feet up!

Also thanks to Big J and Emily for advice on numbers of embies. I am counting my embies well before they've hatched but I did hope to have 3 to put back. I think I may be the oldest person here, so I guess I should be realistic about my chances. Sorry to hear it didn't work out for you Emily. Did you have any frosties left over? Any plans for trying again. Oh and hello, nice to meet you!
