Sonya,

I am so relieved! Thanks for letting us know. I was upset for you.

ckl,

Thanks for the pointer about E-mail. Is your nurse Selina? I will certainly inquire of her if E-mail works for her because it certainly works for me!

Ladies,

I hope everyone's weekend goes gently.

Enjoy this beautiful Spring-like weather we're having. After the monsoons last night, I never imagined waking up to this!!!

Hugs,

saralee

Girls ...I am absolutely blown away with some information that has just been brought to my attention. I, too, am a patient at REACH...and while I am happy with the services I have received, I am sick in my stomach with the financial aspect that this IVF cycle is costing us. While online comparing stats between REACH and CMC.... I came across a BRAND NEW clinic that JUST OPENED. It's called Affordable IVF. Once cycle is $7,000, and their shared trisk (3 fresh and ALL YOUR FET's...even if there are 40 that are frozen) ...costs 15,000. They offer financing at 0% for the first year.
I am very interested in your opinion regarding this place. It's located in Huntersville. Although they are a valid member of SART, and they claim success rates at 65% ...there has just GOT TO BE SOME DRAWBACKS...I personally just can't find one. If you are interested... please check the website at http://www.affordable-ivf.com/ and tell me what you think. Apparently, they have been in Orlando for the past 20 years, and just opened an office here (in Huntersville, actually). I called them last night, and spoke with the doctor's wife who answered the phone. Sweet lady ... and EXTREMELY personable. She claimed that the doctor himself, is a 20 year embryologist AS WELL as an RE. She also stated that they are very close friends with REACH's embryologist (the female one).
Uggh. This is pretty frustrating especially when I've already started suppression.
Very interested in hearing your opinions.
Thanks girls...

As far as the email thing I asked Jenny that a long time ago and she said that they took internet access away from them so I am not sure how your nurse does it! I would absolutley love that!

I agree with all of you. The level of attention is sometimes not there. I had huge problems on my last due to the lack of attention. It is very frustrating. I like my nurse Jenny and in her defense she was out of town during the end of my last attempt so I cant blame her. I really love Dr Whitesides and when we wanted to discuss what happened he insisted on a face to face conversation which I really respected! The morale of the story is keep track of everything!! I work close to Reach so if I have a problem and cant talk to someone I will just stop in! I dont care what they think and I am willing to sit and wait in the waiting room if that is what it takes this time!
Courtney: Thanks for the info on the other clinic. I will definatley check it out if this cycle doesnt work!!

Sara: That was an amazing rain storm. I thought my house would be floating when we woke up!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend! When do you think we should do the lunch thing?

You know, as for Affordable IVF in Huntersville, I stumbled across their information a few nights ago. I, too, am intrigued. I almost posted about them then ... not sure what stopped me. I do have reservations I suppose because, well, REACH is so hgihly regarded and this is a lot of money. I also noticed that Affordable IVF is registered with SART... should offer some comfort, no? I wonder ... I haven't even truly begun. Perhaps I should give them a call. GEESH, I can hear DH now ... I complicate his life so much.

Coutrney: Of course you invited! I was thinking that since we are all in this together it would be great for us all to get together sometime!

Thanks!

Sara...According to the doctor's wife (Mary...her pic is on the website) ... their daughter lives in Charlotte and just had a baby ... they wanted to be closer to the family. ...Also ... I don't believe that they closed the clinic in Florida, rather they just opened another clinic in Huntersville. It sounds as if they are "family owned" and therefore can give more affordable treatment as opposed to being owned by Integramed....I did call again inquiring for a friend of mine desiring to go through IUI. Autum (the receptionist) quoted me $308. for IUI, and that INCLUDED washing!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE! My IUI's at reach were upwards $700 (with washing). She then went on to say that IUI's are so so so so simple and basic that it is unnecessary to charge what's being charged in the bigger cities.
My problem is:::: I'm in the middle of a cycle right now, and it's going to be a pain in the butt to switch everything over. ....Also, I really relly like my Dr. at Reach ..... not crazy about feeling like cattle on a farm ... but nonetheless.

***** What part of Charlotte do ya'll live in??

OK Sonya that is way too funny!!! I lived in River Heights as well and my husband went to Robert H Smith. I grew up in St.James but my husband lived in River Heights pretty much his whole life. Are you both from there? I would love to get your last name (of course you may not want to give it, which is not a big deal). I am sure that I will know who your dad is...one of my best friend's father in law used to be the president of the bombers. That is way too funny, it is such a small world!

Courtney that is really good info and i would love to hear more about it. i might give them a call as well if this cycle doesn't work. do they do ICSI? I have a good friend that is a pharamceutical rep for a fertility drug company (not one that reach prescribes YET unfortunitly) But I will ask her to do some digging to see what the deal is on them. i live in cornelius so that would be so great! definitely worth looking into because if they are really trying to get their numbers up they might charge less just to compete with REACH....hmmmm.

I can't remember who asked but my nurse is Alice. that is very strange about them not being able to access email...was that one of the IVF nurses that told you that? Alice just sent me my next couple days of instructions via email.

I am up for lunch anytime. Like i said I live up at Lake Norman but I work in South Charlotte so I can go anywhere.

I will fill you in once I talk to my friend about Affordable IVF.

I spoke to Autumn this afternoon. Unfortunately, the do no offer shared risk with donor eggs. According to Autumn, they completed closed the clinic in Florida. Of course, the explanation that they relocated for family is sensible but why does it make me uneasy? Wish I could locate someone in Florida familiar with them.
