Thanks for your reply and advice. Looks like that we will have some parenting skills to improve. You are right about more than 1 kid issue and we had been warned before we had our second. Now we definitely experience what it is like.
DD has ears infection AGAIN which impairs her hearing. We did not know when this had occurred since we only found out yesterday at her 1-year-check after her ear tubes were implanted. This explains partly why she has been so cranky lately. Her Dr. scheduled another surgery to remove something behind her nose (her tubes were out a while ago). Both DH and I are very sad and not willing to proceed. But we were not given any alternative.
BTW, our DS has been constantly sick (cold, running nose, ear infections, etc.) ever since he started his daycare life. Last night, we fed him some Tylenol which prolonged his sleeping period. Looks like that teething was not the only reason for his frequent night waking.
Based on our experience with the daycare, I think your time at home with your DD is well justified!

I used photoshop to crop out what I don't need in each individual pictures and then copy and paste to another file so that I can put them all together in one file to upload to photobucket website. I usually decrease the image size so that it shows better. Now I realized that I did not put a bigger pic of DD to show her pretty face!

We are having 2 traveling with the kids coming up, one to Florida for 4 days next month since some of DH's friends from France will be there. Then this will conclude our summer vacations. Another will be Denver for a conference. I am kind of dreadful for these travels given how much work it is to pack the kids!

All is going as well as can be. I'm a bit over-tired, but that's to be expected chasing DD all over the house, phew she can really crawl fast when she sets her mind to it.
Speaking of traveling: We are traveling to Boston for the National football championship. Our team had a slow start this season [and every season I've been a member] but it looks like we clinched our division and now we are in preparations for the championship tournament. So for you seasoned travelers who have flown with wee ones. Any advice on how to pack carry-ons and checked bags. We travel in 4 weeks and I'm getting a jump start on the planning. This trip is our pilot experiment for traveling with DD for longer holiday length and distance. Wish us well. I'm going to try to use a baby gear rental agency up there so we do not have to tote around our stuff, that's a lot of checked baggage. Yasmina how did you do this with two little ones?

Yasmina - I have learnt along the way that there is no right, wrong or perfect way to parenting. You just have to do what right thing for your children, what is important is that you and your DH agree on the way forward and stay consistent. If it doesn't work, dont be afraid to change it and until you find whats right for you all.
Catherine - we have travelled lots of short air distances (up to 3 hours) with DD since she was 3 months old. The best advice given to me was to make sure that the child is not over tired, over hungry and over bored.
Most important, do not carry too much hand luggage as this just becomes heavier and more cumbersome towards the end of your journey when you need all your energy to keep DD happy.

about travel, these items are essential to us:
car seat, if you don't want to rent one at the destination. We had used rental ones before and most of the times, DD cried the whole time sitting in them.

Manual breast pump.
jars of baby food on the road.
some kind of baby carrier, i have many kinds, I like sling and sleepy wrap the most. baby bjorn is great but the baby grew out of it too fast!
stroller, it can be used as push cart for hand luggage when the baby is in the carrier.
extra clothes on the road.
toys, books, dvds, whichever that you baby enjoys playing the most to keep her busy.

Update [AFM]- we went to Boston over the labor day holiday. DD was wonderful. No problems flying there nor home
the only bump in the road was at night she would wake and not recognize the room so she would cry till we comforted her enough for her to return to slumberland. I tell you one of my sore points about traveling. The cost to check luggage was the price of a full fair ticket 
and then the stroller incured damage Thankfully after much complaining at the airline office they reimbursed us for the full price of stroller. so somewhat of a happy ending w/r/t stroller. My team, however, lost in the first round to a much more experienced team that had dropped down a division 
hopefully we can learn something from that experience. But to end the weekend festivities on a hight note I was selected to play in the inaugral east v. west match and the east won DD had a grand time at the weekend events, especially the bumby walk [stroll] between fields.
This week was DD's first week in daycare
she did great, it is DH and I who are learning to seperate from her, hahaha. I have taken on some long term projects that require more of my time away from playing with her This is good for all of us she gets to interact with little people at a much more higher frequency than I could provide for her. She really seems to like it so far.

Glad that you had nice trip experience with your little one. On the other hand, our trip to Denver was not that smooth. DS had fever for the first time and he screamed almost every night. The fever was brief but he refused to sleep in his own crib except for the last night, we finally found out because the bedding was too hard, once we soften it with few layers of blankets, he was fine, but it was time for us to leave...
It's amazing that you had such an easy time to send your DD to daycare at this age - you must be a great mother who trained her well. I remember it was dreadful the first time that I dropped our DD at daycare, she did not stop crying for a whole 4 hours until her teachers called me to pick her up. And then she gradually cried less long, but still refused to drink any milk for almost the entire time while she was there. They thought it was because I breast fed her at home, even though I told them I pumped and fed her with bottles... Until now, she is not eating well at schools. Honestly though, I can hardly imagine a better place for them to be, not home for sure since they have more toys, different activities, projects, games, even little people to play with at schools. I feel they learn a lot from each other or from their teachers too. I believe they must have good time there, I just don't know why I can not have our kids jumping and smiling on the way there. DD was often bitten by some kids from her class when she was at 1 yr old room. Today, we had another "accident" involving someone hit her with a wood block which caused a big bruise on the lips. Boy, it was heart breaking to see that...My DH is very happy about the daycare and he thinks sickness and small injuries are normal and they are part of their growing up. I know he is right, but still, it hurts sometimes.
I think our DS is doing well at daycare. He is crawling everywhere and pulling up whenever he has a chance now. It's fun to watch him change day by day. He is a big flirt, it's rare to see him not smiling or laughing. The best is that I don't need to rock him to sleep at night, I just put him into his crib and he crawls or pulls up a little bit and then sleeps on his own.

Hello to all you lovely Mums it has been a long time since I sat down and catch up with all your news - you are all doing great.
We had a lovely long busy summer with plenty of play dates, family outings and great summer holiday on the beach. DD loves the beach, particularly racing down to the sea edge and scaring the life out of us! Needless to say that we are all back on diet and exercising like crazy to keep up with her.
She is now back at pre-school for the final year and we are looking for primary schools for next September. I am currently organising DD 4th birthday party - her 1st party for a 'big girl'. I cannot believe where the time has gone, I really enjoy watching our baby video footage and it reminds me to keep recording regularly - luckily she isn't shy in front of a camera.
We have a nice term time routine wth a good mix of activities and time at home chilling out. However, swimming is a definite favorite - DD is really water confident and no longer wants to wear armbands which is really scarey when she dive to the bottom for dive sticks. More than one mum has commented on how they are glad thats not their child under the water!!!! Swimming lessons are really helping her to swim unaided.
DH is a complete softy with her and she knows when to switch on the tears in his presence - I find it really funny that he is unaware of her manipulation!
I love reading all your updates and I will try harder to contribute more often.

hi to every one.
Nice to read from you all again. you wanted to hear an update on my little miracle, she is almost 18 months old and really a hand full. She is a real daddy's girl. she is able to say quite a number of words and she is a real chatter box. as i am a primary teacher i like singing little song from school with her and she enjoy it very much. she likes to tavel in the car even if we have to fight with her to sit in the car seat.
I am ver happy with her and sometimes i just look at her and want to cry with happines . so this is an update about my little miracle.

how are you all doing. me ok just enjoying some quality time with my little miracle . this morning she refuses to greet the children at the daycare center. at times when she is in a good mood she will greet everyone at the center but today she did not want to greet them.
i will be celebrating my big 40 onthe 22 october and i am really looking forward to it espeacially now that i have been able to acheive my dream of becoming a mum it will be extra special.
i have also been enjoying the lovely photos of the babies . they are all sweet little miracles like my kerryl-maria.

How are you all doing?
We are enjoying parenting, the only thing changed now is that we now hired a cleaning lady and she is wonderful. This makes our parenting life much more enjoyable.
DS is growing normally and healthily so far, his 9m check up did not show any sign of ear infection, which was a huge deal to us since DD had ear infections every month after her first one at 5.5 m. Our minimal hope for them is that they don't get sick. They are very joyful when they are healthy, but as soon as they are with even little bit discomfort, such as being hungry or lack of sleep, they become whiny. If they are sick, boy...
DS is experiencing something not pleasant, he had 8 teeth without making too much of fuss. Now, suddenly his coming teeth are bothering him a lot - he have been having severe diarrhea for a while. Although I though we may have fed him some unclean blackberries, still, shouldn't it be over already by these many days? I don't even remember how long has it been, 7~10 days? Since he does not complain and still sleeps through the night, we did not call his Dr, should I?
DD becomes someone who is communicatable. It is so much more fun now to talk to her. She is still trilingual, although her English is the best.

I think the timing of the teeth also contributed to setting up the right environment for the ear infections [she had double ear infection]. Currently, she has a persistent cough and runny nose, but no fever. I look forward to the day it ends or she can blow her nose. I'm trying to get her to mimick my blowing. So far not much success there. I am so impressed that your daughter is trilingual. We occasionally watch channels in spanish or rent films that have subtitles so that DD can at least hear the different sounds. The hope is that may be one day she may want to learn a new language and it will be easy if she has heard the sounds before. The question remains will we parents continue to expose her to the various sounds from other tongues.

Hello Catharine, Yasmina, Elles and others; My name is Jules and I will be 41 this june. I dont quite belong in this forum since I dont have any living children, BUT I am so excited that this thread is here. It fills me with hope and expectation. I have been ttc for 3 years. In 7/09 we finally had a successful IVF, it was my first pregnancy and I was thrilled. I made it to 18 weeks, but because of an incompetent cervix I had a miscarriage just 3 weeks ago on 11/11/09. We were devastated, our families and friends were all so excited about this baby finally blessing us and then from one day to the next it was over. I have been kind of roaming this site for a while since the miscarriage, looking for a sign of hope, and then I found you. THANK YOU! Knowing that there are women out there over 40 with healthy happy babies just fills me up with excitement. I'm working really hard at healing my body and mending my broken heart. If all goes as planned I will try again in 3/10. I hope to be here talking to all of you about teething and potty training and runny noses soon. You have all been so informative and supportive of eachother ( I read all your posts) and I would love to be a part of that someday. Welcome, I am so glad you have found somewhere to give you inspiration and hope. I fell pregnant at 43 with my own eggs and had a healthy baby girl at 44 - compared to me you are a young spring chicken!
