Hi Alison, and welcome to May..it's going to be a scorcher

I am just so paranoid about the passport  , no news yet and I have visions of the form being buried under a pile at the consulate and them all out at lunch time cos the suns shining..(Sorry if you work there it's meant in the nicest way  ). Going to try to phone them Monday

I used to be a glass half full person but at the moment I just seem to imagine anything and evrything going pear-shaped  - I guess this is the normal reaction having taken so long to decide to go ahead with donor eggs now I just wnat to get on with it but can't believe it's really happening. :? .. Little P can you face Dusseldorf and send some of your famous PMA plz

sorry girls passport is dead boring but I wont get to Barcelona without it! what a wally totally my fault  PMA side - I am on HRT, we can re-schedule it wont be the end of the world and dh is a real sweetie today....

hi all... that will be my new PMA mantra "May - what a scorcher!" that will no doubt keep me going! have been following all of your posts but have really felt at a bit of a loose end whilst waiting to start my next treatment. it seems like a lifetime away. am now in my normal 2ww for AF to arrive and following that i will be going for a scan to check ovaries are looking gorgeous and ready to go again.

still hoping this isnt too soon to go again (-ve result from last attempt on march 7th) but clinic seem to think it's fine. i will have had 2 AFs before i start downregging. from what i read most people are told this is too soon... i feel fighting fit and seem to have regained the energy i lost after tmt so i feel ok and optimistic. are any of you others finding the wait until may difficult? i am the kind of person who likes to get on with stuff, but i know this is not something i can rush....

hope all of you are doing ok. i am struggling to be really helath eating-wise. i am not naturally keen on exercise so most i have strted doing is an amble with the dogs! had become a bit anxious about ehich vits to combine so i bit the bullet and bought the Zita West ones (which will cost just under £40 for a months supply!!) madness i'm sure but at least i now just have the 2 bottles!

hae a great weekend all and look forward to us all cycling together soon(ish!)

Hi everyone in the May group - I have been watching the posts on the March thread and this one, and think this is probably where I belong - currently on the pill, baseline scan scheduled for the 12th April and then should start Synarol (sp??) on the 13th, with EC etc scheduled for early May. The time is passing really quickly, as we have already had a couple of visits with the dr and the mandatory counselling session.

Went to the chemist the other day to get the vitamins - things like that make it seem very real.

Our dr has recommended 500mcg folic acid, but I saw something the other day that said 800mcg was optimal - what sort of advice are you being given at your end? (nothing like the international perspective!).

Have told a couple of close friends about what we are doing, but have not yet told our parents - am concerned that they may be a bit judgemental as we both have children from previous marriages - although should not be scared of what my parents think at age 36!!! (do we ever get over this?). Not such an immediate issue, as they live interstate, but worry that if I don't say anything, they will be upset at not having been included, and if I do say something, they will be a bit cold on the idea. Has anyone else faced this situation?

Our GP was surprised when we initially approached her ("why would you want more??"), but we have found the IVF clinic to be fanstastic, which is good because I was becoming a bit paranoid.

Sorry for rambling - hope you are all making the most of the weekend, we are having the most amazing weather, like a very late summer, so will make the most if it before autumn really sets in.

Dear Jo,
Welcome to the board. My IVF group is the June/July one, but we all read everything and support everybody - which is GREAT!

Sounds like you and your dh are going for the complete "yours, mine and ours" style of parenting :D I admire you for your decision. I am the oldest of two people who did the same. Mom had 3, Dad had 5, together they had 3 for a total of 11  So glad they didn't feel they had enough - or I wouldn't be here.

Only 6 of us grew up in the same house together. My Dad being much older than Mom had already raised his first 5. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck for one BIG HAPPY family!

Hi there Jo - Welcome !!

As you've been watching already, you'll have seen just how supportive this board really is. I start downreg on Tues, with AF due following week, so I'm almost exactly the same dates as you. I'm on the March/April thread, but will move over to May later.

My hospital haven't even mentioned Folic Acid, or any other supplement. The UK Dept of Health recommends 400mcg, but the prenatal multi vits I'm taking contain more than that. I've thrown the bottle away, so can't check it.

I can understand your dilema re whether to tell parents or not. It's one of those where there just isn't a right answer. Why not just save it up and hit them with the good news when you get your +ve ..

Well, it's been a lovely spring weekend so far ... hope today holds out !

Here's to a smooth and successcul cycle ..!

Hi Jo and welcome

we certainly are international here   and it's fascinating to see the differences in recomendations from clinics accross the globe. We are using donor eggs so as far as I know I'll start cycling mid April after visit to Institute Marques in Barcelona along wqith my donor angel...(as long as my new passport tiips up but that's another story  ) and ET would be 4 - 6 weeks after that. We have to go abroad as donor eggs are not allowed in Germany, and Spain has lower waiting lists than UK just to give you the background.

We have told my mum - and she's paying for the show bless her as without her we'd be stuffedIt's different for her as she has no grandchildren from me so I guess that's why she's so understanding. I told my sis but now regret it as she has 2 of her own (currently pg with nr 2) and is being insensitive even when she tries to be supportive  ...and we did (or I did) tell a few other girls freinds and family as when you decide for this it is earth shattering and you tend to get caught up in the process and talk to people about it and forget feelings  which is why this wonderful site is so supportive...

.. we are honestly now thinking of telling people we have the chance with normal IVF and a new techniqiue in Spain and swearing mum to silence as we now realise that it's not good for the world and his aunty to know we are using donor eggs....we want to tell junior ourselves when the time is right....We haven't told dh parents atall, they wouldn't understand (MIL is 76 and FIL 84) and we've been together 12 years, dh has kids from 1st marriage, but I think they'll be happy with a "nice surprise! so if you don't feel good about telling parents and feel you have to justify yourselves, I would take Sand's advice and tell them when you get your +ve. One post sugessted saying you went on holiday and oops got pregnant!

hope that helps

Hope everything ticks along nicely for you - any questions just ask as there are loads of girls here who are fountains of information.

Hi everyone, thanks for your warm welcomes

Things are a bit quiet in here at the moment . . . . our computer has been 'hi-jacked' - my step daughter has started uni this year (she will be 19 in a few weeks) and she has come to live with us - which is working out quite well, but it can be tricky to access the pc.... not to mention the telephone and the bathroom!!!

Added to that, DP's mother has been in hospital for a few days (out today) and we have had her cat as well as our own, so we have a full house.

Work is so crazy at the moment, I thought I was going to fall asleep over dinner tonight, and wonder how life with a baby would (will) be - we have been talking about this off and on for three years and saw a program on fertility rates for women as they get older, and while it was something I was aware of, DP freaked out and hence we decided to start exploring our IVF options a couple of months ago. The second kick up the b*m to get moving was my best friend. She has a 4 yo and a 2 yo - she sent us a Christmas card, hinting that no. 3 might be on the way - when I called she was in tears, I was worried something had happened, but she managed to stammer through her tears ". . . and (sob) I'm having (sob) twiiiiiiins (waaahhhhh)" - I think my cluckiness flew off the end of the cluck-o-meter - and I ended up calling the clinic that afternoon.

well, am rambling, must be the tiredness - flying to Sydney tomorrow for a meeting, surely you would think it would be easier to run a video-conference - and then working from home on Friday, so the plumber can come and fix the dodgy work that the cheap plumber did for us a couple of months ago in the bathroom - funny how cheap usually ends up being more expensive in the end.

bathroom, work, seem to have gotton a bit off the track, sorry for that - sometimes it is just good to get it all out. DP has been called to be on jury duty this week - he moaned and grizzled about it for months, went in hoping and hoping he would not be selected and then comes home at the end of the first day, proud as punch - not only has he been selected, he has volunteered to be chairman.... he is a scout leader and sometimes I think his "do a good deed" ethos gets him into more trouble....

Looks like stepdaughter has set up MSM messenger, I am ignoring some questionable comments and suggestions that are popping up on the screen - ahh, to be 18 again.....

Hope you are all well and keeping positive - I'm so frustrated just waiting - have a baseline ultrasound on Tuesday and if all goes well, will start sniffing on Wednesday...

time for bed - I'll check in in a few days - if the pc is free!!
