Hello lovely ladies

Great news - midwife said its ok to get my legs waxed (although she looked horrified at my question)!!!!

Didn't learn anything else new - came away with loads of books, discount baby vouchers and expected baby delivery date of 11th December 2005!

Now waiting for hospital date for 12 week nucal scan - thats our next milestone to overcome.

In the meantime, still have sore boobs, AF pains (mostly at night), peeing loads, constipation, indigestion and nausea after meals - oh the joys of pregancy! On the plus side - ginger nut biscuits cure the nausea!

I had the Nuchal Scan!

SOO beautiful!!!

we saw a complete little person, moving, waving, pushing, falling asleep, waking up, moving etc.

I cried for 10 minutes!!

The outcome was 1: 900 for downsyndrom, we are not sure what to do now... seems alright.... no action needed I think.... amnio?

but sooooo soooo BEAUTIFULL!!!!

Hi Alette

The scan must have been really exciting - I guess it all seems real now.

I must admit, after my first scan (at 7 weeks) although it was lovely to see a heartbeat it still didn't sink in that I was pregnant.

I've had a bit of spotting over the last couple of weeks. The first time was over the Bank Holiday & I couldn't get in touch with anyone until the Tuesday. DH & I dashed up to the Early Pregnancy Unit at the hospital & after a 2hr wait, had another scan which showed that everything was still ok.

The second time, I just took to my bed as the spotting was really light. It only showed up on the tissue when I went to the loo. Friends who have had babies have said that it is quite common & I'm trying not to worry about it.

Am still very tired & nauseous & have decided to take each Wednesday off (as holiday) for the next couple of weeks until I go for my 12 week scan. Hopefully I'll have a bit more energy at that point. Please tell me that this happens Alette!! At the moment I get to about 4pm & then my brain & body seem to shut down.

I'm so pleased for you, Alette, It was lovely reading your post as you were so emotional & it's made me look forward to mine.

Caroline - glad to know that leg waxing is ok, did she mention about getting your roots done? Mine are in dire need of treatment, I've promised myself that I'll hold off until after 12 weeks but it's getting more & more difficult!

sorry Jude I cannot tell you that being so tired etc. and sickness gets less for I still am so tired I could sleep all day and this strange taste in my mouth did not disappear yet...

Such a big difference between scans!

8 weeks, nice to see the heartbeat (I was so happy about this)

and then yesterday at almost 12 weeks, what a difference!! in 4 weeks it developed to a little person!!

they counted the fingers!! a true miracle!!

Jude, I dyed my hair a few weeks ago. I myself decided not to be so extremely careful and just do it. I could not bear those gray hair anymore!! My husband did not agree but whose gray hair was this?! But if you feel more confident waiting... then wait! (or wear a cap!)

Did you have contact over your spotting again? Could it be anything else?
I think they should allow us ivf girls, one scan per week, at least!
do you not think we deserve this??

CarolineP you sound a healtypregnant person with all your little complaints! Eventually these symptoms will disappear (they tell us) so as long as you have them.... it 's a good sign is it not?

(If I do not sound nice, please remember I am Dutch  and I do not know all your expressions)

BigJ, still waiting for you!!

Alette - great news about the scan. Must have been so exciting for you both. Any clues as to the gender yet? Did you take a peek? Those odds sound pretty good, did the doctor say how that compared to others? I had an amnio with DD but am not sure about doing it again. I found the stress and waiting almost unbearable and ruined 2 full weeks of our lives. I cried continually, couldn't sleep and was a mess all round. The procedure itself was fine and went really well.

Jude - Sounds like you're taking it all very sensibly. I bled at around 14 weeks and was then deluged by people telling me it had happened to them - and all had been fine. Before that, total silence on the subject. Taking one day off a week sounds like a really good idea. I've also often read that 4pm is a normal time to be hit by exhaustion. I've tried to remember how it was for me before but have the memory of a gnat now. Warning: pregnancy and motherhood do strange things to your brain! I do remember being in maternity clothes in my 2nd month, my bump appeared very early but didn't do much more growing except in the final two weeks. In total I put on 32lbs/15kgs and had a 6.1lb/2.7kg baby so had lots to lose. I'm wiser this time round so will watch my weight more carefully. I'm starting from 3kgs lighter now which I'm happy about.

Caroline - I've read that the dyes in hair colourants are milder than they used to be. That said, there are also some vegetable dyes you could try for just a month or two if you wanted to be super sure. Have you looked on the websites of the brands you usually use? There might be FAQ etc. You could also ask your colourist. Traci (wonderful woman) used to be on here a lot but is taking a break, owns her own salon and said it's fine and perfectly OK but I understand it you want peace of mind first. Re. waxing. Have you read that you are more susceptible to pain whilst pg so it might hurt more??

Funnily enough I had cut today and the last of my colour has gone so I wondered about colouring it tonight. I'm a very boring mouse brown so need something to liven it up a little.

Must run now but all is fine. I love Tuesdays as I click up another week so today I am 7 weeks. Feeling fine. Sore boobs and a slight loss of appetite is all I'm experiencing right now. No nausea at all, no tiredness either - yet.

Just starting to think about Friday. I'll be 7wks 4 days so there's every chance we'll see anything that's there.

Hugs to everyone. Aren't we lucky to be doing this together and within a month or so of each other?

Hi girls

Alette, I never realised that you were Dutch - your English is so good.

I haven't followed up the second lot of spotting but will probably sneak in a scan before our 12 week one. We can get it done privately in a local IVF clinic - we went there for our first scan - they are more clued up to the problems and worries of IVF mothers to be.

I think I can just about hold out for another few weeks until the grey hairs make me depressed!! I need some pampering, Estraderm patches have made my bum look like a pepperoni pizza. Can't do anything much about that so I may treat myself to a pedicure next week

Debra - you're right about memory going - I have to write everything down at work otherwise I forget to do things. All my clothes are beginning to feel too tight.

Shouldn't moan though, it's what we've been trying for for the last 4 years.

I think its great that we more mature posters are going through this together & I'm sure there'll soon be a bigger group of us as the others move over to this side.

Love & best wishes to all

HI girls,

Escuse me butting in. I love reading your posts, and look forward to reading when your babies are born, so please keep posting!

Alette, just wanted to add that in Australia a 1:900 ratio for Downs is considered an excellent result. Our specialist said that they don't recommend an amnio unless you have a 1:300 or less. So I say don't stress and enjoy your little miracle.

Congratulations to all the wonderful women on this thread!
