Next cycle

Post by JFESTEN »

Thanks Randa for info.
Another question is how long does it take to start a new cycle once you have to abandon the one you are in.
I am prepping for this on Monday when I am sure they will tell me that I need to start over.
Thinking you need to get your period and do the whole BC pill thing again.
Making me nuts!

Thanks
Jodi

Hi JulieM, i've just read your post and yes i am in a similar position.

I have normal fsh levels but have never had a natural period so no surprise when the first tmt was abandoned due to lack of response.

Second time around back in May they doubled the dosage of Menopur (stim drugs) to 6 amps a day (the maximum) and i had to keep going for an extra week on them to get to the minimum of 3 follicles at 18mm or more - which i just had. However we were very surprised that 13 eggs were collected of which 11 fertilised. Unfortunately only the 2 they put in met the grade so no frozens ones, and the test was neg.

I am in the middle of cycle no 3, still on max drugs and had a scan yesterday. It seems i have responded much better this time and have 3 that are good enough and some others yet to catch. They have decided to let me go for 2 more days on the drugs to see if i can get any more ready for EC onfriday.

Am not sure why i have responded more quickly this time, maybe it is the healthy eating i have done all summer or maybe God is answering some of my prayers - either way I feel much more encouraged this time around although i know we still have a long way to go.

It is all such a mystery - why have normal FSH levels and then struggle to get the body to respond to drugs? :?

Good luck!
Annie
me 34 dh 42 TTC 4 yrs
No periods - maybe PCOS (docs undecided)
Laparoscopy/ovarian drilling/Clomophene unsuccessfull
IVF march 05 - abandoned poor response
IVF may/june 05 -ve
IVF Oct/Nov 05 -ve
End of the IVF road for us - had enough!

Hi there

I am new to this site and have to say I am very glad I cam eacross this site it is very interesting and nice to know you are not alone in this.

I am 25 yrs old, currently going through my 2nd cycle of IVF, but I have high FSH at 23.7, it has Fluctuated over the past couple of months, July 13.5, August 9, September 12, October a wopping 23.7. I went through my last ivf cycle in July when my FSH was 13.5, and I got a POSITIVE result, but sadly miscarried. The doctor didn't think I would produce any eggs with an FSH level that high, I produced 10 (how wrong were they) so this time round I have been told once again I will probably not produce any eggs with my FSH been so high, the doctor wanted to abandon the cycle but I am funding this myself so really wanted to carry on with it. I had my 8 day scan today, 8 follies there, so I suppose I'm not doing bad, its just a case of whether the eggs are good quality.

Has anyone here been through IVF with high FSH levels. I also notice from some posts, that different clinics work with different FSH levels, mine (Leeds) will only usually work with a cycle if the FSH is lower than 15, but becuase I did well last time they seem to think I may have age on my side. I didn't think that would make any difference, I don't think they would of allowed it if it was an NHS patient, which is unfair really.

Anyway some advice on high FSH would be greatly appreciated. Good luck to everyone

Lucy

thanks for your post....it has given me so much hope to know that you got 10 eggs on a FSH of 13.5. Good on you for all the persevering with your clinic. It sounds like they are definatly in your corner. it's wonderful that you have had confirmation of an 8 follies scan, I hope all the follies produce loads of eggs for you. When is your EC date ?

My first ivf was cancelled due to no response, after maximum stimming drugs no follies grew. I was naturally preg the 10 months before so can't understand why no response. This time may be my last ivf. (NHS)I am due for a scan on thursday 3rd nov to determine whether they will treat me for ivf or not. With all your experience it sounds like i need to attend a good clinic so it really has given me hope for the future.

GOOD LUCK let me know how you get on with tmt.

Love

Hi All

Just to update you, I have EC tomorrow, I have 8 follies, so lets hope we get some good quality eggs..... I am very nervous as doctors have told me not to expect too much, becuase I have very high FSH levels, they have said maybe my egg quality will be poor.....but on the other hand they did also say I probably wouldn't get any folliea nd there they are, very big ones aswell........!!

But lets wait and see eh, I will post again to let you all know how many eggs I did get (if any)
