Hey guys! Glad to hear more of us posting here!

Denise, sounds like we'll hear about good baby news within a week. How exciting. Sounds like it's taking a toll on you now...you must be miserable...but with an end in sight and something so exciting to look forwad to, I guess it makes it tolerable for you. Keep us posted! Oh, and very sorry to hear about your sister-in-law losing one of her twins. That has to be so devastating for her.

Well, I did my baby registery yesterday at the baby store. It was a lot of fun. It's like shopping for all the stuff you want in one day (only you don't have to pay the bill for it all). :)

Hayley & Kareen - hoping you both work your way out of that 1st T and into the 2nd. The 2nd is wonderful....usually no sickness, energy back, nice tummy bump, lots of attention, etc. The 3rd T is around the corner for me and now I'm uncomfortable, feet always swollen, don't sleep good, don't have much energy, etc. Of course nothing compared to what Denise is feeling now!!!!! :)

Kareenx, glad to hear it's easing! It's amazing what pregnancy does to or bodies, huh? I never realized it until now as I experience it firsthand.

My due date is Nov. 14. I'm just over 24 weeks now.

lurker here

Post by racquel »

Hi ladies - just wanted to introduce myself and let you know you have a lurker here (haha)

My hCG scores have been really high (1st beta was 405) and the nurses in my clinic are convinced I'm having twins ... know it's early and I haven't even had a sono yet but I can't get it out of my mind that both my embies have snuggled in for the long haul. Yes I already have my hopes up :) so too late to be sensible.

Perhaps just my imagination but I've had a baby before and I swear all my symptoms now are x2. Thankfully not vomitting but have had some major waves of dizziness and overall nasuea. My boobs are freakishly large - they were big to begin with but this is crazy, I need to go to maternity store to figure out what my next size is. Have a bump already - I'm sure it's due to still having swollen ovaries, water retention and my huge appetite but I was size 6 to begin with and none of my pants fit any more. I can barely get away with the rubber band trick to extend their life a little longer. With all this I just can't get past thinking it must be twins!

So - reality check - is this in line with what any of you experienced early on? Or am I completely nuts to be this focused on twinners already??!!

Racquel, I wouldn't say you are nuts! I think most of us after going through IVF wouldn't mind a "bonus"! I know I didn't mind if I ended up with two babies. Heck, it was such a long 10+ year struggle to get one!

I read somewhere that pregnant mother's often have a gut feeling/instinct when they are pregnant with twins. I know I did. I was careful not to tell anyone that I was "sure of it"...but in my head I was telling myself that. I even told the doctor at my first scan at 8 weeks that they wouldn't be surprising me when they tell me it's two babies...I just was afraid of having three. Sure enough, they said I was right...it was two.

Of course, we have the hcg levels to give us an indication. My hcg level was approx 1200 (can't remember exact number right now)...and that was about day 16 after a 5 day transfer. So that gave me a head start on my "gut feeling".

I didn't have any symptons though like you are describing at 6 weeks. My symptoms started about 2 days before my 8 week scan.

That's interesting that your clinic would tell you they are convinced it's twins just by the beta. My clinic wouldn't even flinch when I said "gee, isn't 1200 high, could it be more than one?". They would never guess on anything like that or even indicate what they thought could occur. I guess so that they don't get your hopes up or down.

So regardless if you have one or two babies, you are blessed to be pregnant! So congratulations. Hope to hear that you can join our "double trouble" club!!

Thanks Kristi, your comments mean a lot to me! My dr is very conservative so when he called and said I was having a GREAT day because it was likely both embies took I was very surprised. I found out later that I had the 2nd highest day 10 score of anyone in their office so it was a big deal for all of them. The nurses started asking me how my babies were doing when I came in for blood tests :) Then they got a little more subdued when my counts we're doubling at 72 vs. 48 hours ... they gave me all the "we won't know until sono" jazz with a big BUT these are high scores ...

Anyway, I just have this feeling that they're both growing, just like I had a feeling right away that I was pregnant. I'm sure it's a wishful feeling but that works for me right now....I truly will be happy with whatever I get and I didn't want twins going into this, but it just feels right at this poiny, you know?

Can't wait to hear more about how you all are feeling who are farther along, it's so exciting!

Racquel, wow you had your first beta on day 10. I guess that is really high then. My office doesn't do them until day 16. So that puts a new perspective on it for me. When is your ultrasound?

beta

Post by racquel »

you know I may be counting my days wrong - we had ER on 6/26, ET on 6/29 and first hCG test 7/10. I think that's 10 days right, or is it 13? I don't know, I'm new at this. I just know they said it was super high...

Our first sono is 8/7 (@ 8wks). I've seen others with scans as early 6wks but I guess every clinic is different. At least at 8 we have more of a chance of hearing the heartbeat (I think???)

Thanks for asking! Hope you're all feeling well...Racquel

Yep, you were saying it right. Usually people count from the day of transfer like you did. You are also right that at 8 weeks there is a higher chance of seeing the heartbeats. I had my first ultrasound at 7 weeks 3 days and we could see the heartbeats. How exciting for you! I can't wait to hear your news.

Hi raquel

I make that 12 days post transfer (but baby brain is vey slow at moment!) my hcg was 385 on the same day and I knew it was very high. In my heart of hearts i feel I really knew it was twins but DH wouldnt let me say that!!! He said we should just be grateful and enjoy the BFP until we knew, but us girlies like to dream! However before the first scan I had bleeding and when I went to the clinic I was convinced it was all over. TO see 2 sacs was just AMAZING. You have to wait a while for the scan at your clinc, dont you? I was discharged from my clinic at six weeks. You must be itching to get intthat scan room!!!

As for symptoms, the sickness started at six weeks and got worse and worse. oh joy!!!!

Denise

So sorry for you r sister. That is not nice. I am pleased you have a date, not long to go!!

Ladies in first trimester congrats!! The first scan is exciting!

Love to all

2nd Ultrasound

Post by mariab1976 »

I go in for my second ultrasound tomorrow. The first one was because of a bleeding episode that lasted 3 days and never really got heavy--more on the TP during trips to bathroom. (TMI, I know)

Anyway, I am crossing my fingers that both little ones decided to stick around. In the first ultrasound baby b was measuring a little behind but had a very strong heartbeat. :D

I am so nervous! I was hoping to be off the PIO's tomorrow but when I called the doctor her nurse said to order one more vial. By the time I am done with it I will be about 10 weeks. Jeesh!

On a good note, she will release me to my OB tomorrow, so I may luck up and get two ultrasounds tomorrow.:D

maria

really good luck tomorrow. i had 'tp' blood each week, sometimes for 2/3 days on and off up until 8 weeks. Seems it was just normal for me and the us showed all was okay.

what are PIOs? progesterone? I took it and oestrogen untill 11 weeks and then weaned off for a week. better to be safe!

I hope the bleeding clears up soon just for your own sanity. I know we can tell ourselves not to worry, but we still do

let us know how things go
