gi wrote:helene just read your post and thinking of what your daughter might think, i believe that if you put it out in the open from an early age and explain how much you really wanted her but also that your friend really wanted a baby too she will understand. If children are brought up in a secure and loving environment and told the truth from an early age they will be able to adapt, you are a great mother and your daughter will be fine. When we were considering using my sis as a donor we always said we would tell our child the truth. There is just so much to think about but you have plenty of time...well 7 mths though i kinda suspect you know what you really want to do just follow your heart and you wont go wrong xxx
That is true you are right. My kids right now ask if they can have the others as babies also (cause they want another boy of course they are boys :) but I keep telling them my friend also would love to have a baby and they understand it and they accept it so I guess my little one might be ok with it .... sounds wonderful...

Thank you so much ... for sure I was going to tell her right away I already printed all of her mother's pictures and printed the bios of both of her parents to scrap it and everything...

thanks so much

Tammy Oh, honey i'm so sorry. I'm devastated for you. I'm at a loss for words. Have you had a u/s yet? Can we hope that it was a vanishing twin?
This is so unfair. Its so hard to accept that we have no control over anything going on in there. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers - xoxo

Ktelise - YAY, you are getting your girl! That is so awesome that your tech could tell already. Gives me hope that the Doc doing my NTS on Friday will be able to tell. Yes, a doctor is doing it.. so maybe he is a perinatologist? I was just told to go to the hospital and see Dr Allen at desk 3A which is where OB/GYN is. I so hope to know what the twins are!! I am guessing Baby B is a boy but no instict on Baby A. We shall see in a few days! :) Such a cute pic too! It never gets old seeing baby pics!

Katie - Can't say I cramp, just the pinching and pulling of what seems to be ligaments or stretching of my uterus? Not sure what it is really but it isn't any fun. I get nervous anytime I get bowel cramps though. I know I just have to poo, but I get nervous anyway because I am afraid of the contractions of the bowel to contract my uterus. Silly I know but in the end I know I am fine. As for Andrew, he was the only one out of his siblings to be forced to labor on the farm. He was just a little boy when making him go out and work all day long. Even homework came second to the farm. He would have to get up early before school and work, then come home and work until 10pm, only then could he do homework. Then going into the Army, over 8 years of duty and doing three tours in Iraq, yeah it hasn't been easy on him. I am sure that the work on the farm caused it and the first tour in Iraq made it worse. I can't stand how he was treated as a kid, just makes me so mad when I hear of different things he was made to do while his brothers and sister all sat on their butts and got fat.

Ryan - I hope everything is ok!! That is what my spotting was, a subchorionic hemorrhage. I gushed bright red blood and was sure it was over. Luckily everything was ok and still is. I finally stopped spotting over the weekend. It lasted 5 weeks! So I have plenty of hope for you! i hope your appt went ok. Fingers crossed!!!

Helene - YAY for your girl! So awesome that you get to know so soon. I am sure that a scan in a few weeks will confirm it! As far as your friend, I think it's great what you are doing. I am sure that you can explain it to them when she gets older that it is a precious gift to have a baby and you were helping someone who can't have a baby have that precious gift that you get to have. You are good friends too so she will get to grow up with her brother or sister so I am sure everything will work out with no drama. It's the ultamate kindness you are doing!

Tammy - Oh no, you poor thing! I am hoping that what Katie said is true and it was twins and one vanished?? How devistating.

AFM - Still no bleeding... day three no spotting whatsoever!! YAY!! One more day and I can start having "fun" again! We finally cleared the other house today. The girl that did the inspection was a pain in the arse!! She was going around rubbing everything and scratching everything just searching for dirt. Now, I am hormonal as it is and here she is making it look like a basic training inspection from a drill sgt. I started bitching right away! She marked down that the garbage cans were dirty... really?? Maybe that's because we put GARBAGE in them! We had to hurry up and borrow the neighbor's hose and clean them so we wouldn't get charged. Also had to borrow three light bulbs and I had to squat down to remove three spots on the baseboards! Andrew said I went "ape shit" on her. lol I didn't think I was that bad but at least in the end we cleared without having to pay anything. So I am a happy camper now. Nothing to do now but finish unpacking and if I wasn't preggers I would have everything done already. Oh well, it should be done by the end of the week I hope!

DrBoots – I am sorry … please take it easy and I will definitely pray for you and your baby!

Claudia – I am glad that you are doing well. You have an u/s on Thursday … that is great! Yeah, I wouldn’t worry too much about your progesterone since they put you on supplemental progesterone; just keep an eye on it also.

Katie – I did have cramping like that w/ my daughter that far along and my RE ended up putting me on Advil to calm my uterus down and bed rest when it got too bad. He said occasional cramping was ok but the continuous concerned him. What did your RE say about the cramping? I know this might sound crazy but could the cramping actually be gas pains. I know when I got that far along, the gas pains mimicked severe cramping several times and really scared me. So I had started using Colace as a stool softener and it really helped to prevent the severe cramping.

Ktelise – it’s a girl!!! That awesome!

Gi – thanks for the warm wishes for my beta today!

Tammy – I am so very sorry. Words just can’t express how sorry I feel. Please let me know if I can do anything for you …

Stephanie – I am glad you didn’t have any bleeding today that is great! So it looks like you are moving … that can be very stressful!

Babyluv – I hope you are doing well. Thanks for the well wishes for a great beta today!

AFM - Well, I had my 5th beta today and I am happy to say it was 2,607, which means it is still doubling every 48 hrs like it is supposed to! My progesterone is still a little high at 212 but I still feel good so far. My RE also rescheduled my first u/s from this Thursday to next Monday at 11:15am. That way I have a better chance of seeing a HB because I will be 6 weeks & 4 days on Monday and my DH will be able to go also. So no more BW for a while unless I become very nervous and ask them to repeat it again over the next week! Thank you ladies so much for all of your support …

Tammy-I'm so sorry hon. Words can't express how much it sucks  I do know the feeling and the pain is so raw now but please continue your journey since you are such an inspiration to everyone. We love you and hope to see you cycling again very soon.

Angela-that is so great to hear that your numbers look good!!! I saw the h/b at 6w3d so I am sure you will see your little Flick next Monday!!!

Stephanie-I would have gone nuts at that lady as well if she was nit-picking over stupid things like a dirty garbage can!!! Yah for no more bleeding!!! Mine came back a tiny bit but I think it's because I stopped the crinone and now that I'm getting rid of all that backed up progesterone the old blood is coming out as well. It has been brown so as long as I don't have bright red bleeding (which I have now had 3 times) I feel ok.

I am off to give my second parent workshop and this time my topic is alcohol and drugs with teens!! hope it's as much as a success as my sex talk that I had with them back a few months ago

Hi everyone! Wow, looks like I missed a lot. Today at work was crazy hectic and then I went to the gym to spin. My instructor noted my tummy and said it was "cute". I saw my side profile in the mirror in my gym clothes and I have to admit, it made me smile huge. :D
Strange thing... I'm always cold. Anyone else? I come home and have to wrap myself in a blanket to sit on the couch. My hands are always cold too. I was never someone who was always warm but this is a bit odd even for me.
I also take my last progesterone shot tomorrow. I have to admit, I'm nervous about stopping them. I am not having a level drawn and it's a week before my next OB appt. I will for sure ask about it though. Do you guys think I should be concerned?

Katie -- Hey pretty lady, love the pic of you and DH. He looks like he absolutely adores you. And he should! And your dogs are awesome. I love great danes... yours looks so sweet. Your mastiff puppy is absolutely adorable. I have had a few sharp cramps here and there but nothing that's lasted more than a short while. I think a lot of times I think it's my uterus, that it's really intestinal.

Steph -- haha... "practically clear" without a tan. That's funny! Let me know what you think of Mystic Tan when you go. I love your pics. Your DH looks so young! Well, I guess he IS young at 25. And your little dog is precious! So sorry about DH's back issues. I am no stranger to those. I myself have two herniated discs which I have had multiple steriod epidural injections for. Luckily for me, I haven't had any issues for the past year. I still take it easy when it comes to my back though.

Babyluv -- Your parents sound amazing! I love that they feed the homeless every week. That is really awesome.

Helene -- Noooo.... I'm not a model. I've never done any type of modeling and I don't think I would. I just decided a couple of years ago to make getting in shape a priority. I already love to play sports, and I'm not much of a TV person. And yes, my trainer is happy with my results. She even put me on their brochures, mailings, & website. I drew the line at billboard! I'm not joking. And hooray for a baby girl! I bet we're going to have a lot of girls on this board. It's a hunch I have. I can't wait to find out what we're having. So exciting. It's our first... so we really don't have a preference. What sort of gender test did you do?

Angela -- I had my first u/s at 6w5d and I did see the heartbeat as well as fetal pole and yolk sac. I'm sure you will too!

Claud -- Haha... that's funny you mentioned my boobs. The first session I had with my trainer she asked if they were real and then nodded and said "niiiiice". It made me feel so conspicuous. But she's a really sweet person and a great friend now. Turns out she's had implants. But her body is fantastic. I just hate being short. I wish I was even a little bit taller than 5'4". Thanks for the compliment though. :D

Tammy -- I'm so sorry for your loss. I know there aren't words that can make you feel better at this time, but you are in my thoughts. I loved the photos of your family. Your son is just beautiful.

Ryan -- OMG... I'm so so sorry. My heart sank when I read your post. I'm praying for a miracle for you.

ktelise -- Wow your u/s pic is awesome! Mine last week still looked like a blob. Congrats on finding out it's a girl! That seems early to find that out already. I hope I can find out too!

Gi -- Yes, pics please!

Wow I can imagine the good publicity you bring to them. You should charge a fee for all your hardwork and effort for sure.

The test I just did is the Urologics test. I am also doing the "Tell me Pink or Blue" probably this weekend or after the move just to see if they say the same thing. I just tried the cabbage test this morning and funny if it's a girl it's supposed to turn purple and if it's a boy it's supposed to turn pink and it kinda was red/pink to me so?? I think you never know for sure until your scan or at other real tests?? But it's nice to have hope ;)

HI franca,

I'm 16 wks pregnant and I'm still a bundle of nerves. I don't thin women that are pregnant after treatment ever truly calm down untill you hold your bundle of joy in your arms. I still get nervous before every appointment and wish I had a doppler to check everyday. I know its crazy but all you can do is hold on and try to enjoy the ride as best you can. Sending good thoughts your way, hang in there!

Franca - Welcome!! Congratulations on your BFP!! I think we all know that feeling of wanting to be excited but holding back. It's why we only trust each other with the news until the u/s or other things that prove it to us. :) Being through so much disappointment in the past, it can be hard to be happy when you think that anything could happen. However, being excited and positive thinking can go a long way! The important thing is to enjoy your pregnancy as much as you can spite the fears! Stress doesn't help a pregnancy along, I was warned about this for all of my failures from my RE. So from day 1 after transfer we just pretended I was pregnant. Not only was I, but there are two in there! DH kept rubbing my belly saying "How are the twins" almost everyday after transfer and what would you know... he got his wish. I understand the worry though Franca. It never really goes away for us I don't think, not until we are holding our little bundles in our arms. Just remember, anytime any fears come into your head, just chase them away by telling yourself everything is great. Picture your baby growing and being healthy... this is what I did... and still do actually!

Helene - So happy everything is turning out pink for you. :)

Lou - You know who I think you look like... Rebecca De Mornay. I hope you take that as a compliment. lol She is gorgeous after all. ;) Can't say I get cold often, I have been the type to be warm all the time and still am. After spending 4 years in Iraq Andrew's body is effected and now he is always cold. Even when to touch him he is hot, he still complains that he is cold. Oh, and I did try the Mystic tan, it was before though. I paid $18 for 3 sessions of medium and it didn't get my pale arse tan enough so I had to do dark, which I think was $23 here? It's less expensive then paying month to month for a tanning bed that we can't use anyway. The tan lasts two weeks two. Just can't go in with any makeup or deoderant. Use lotion daily to help keep the tan longer too. It covers very well and evenly and doesn't turn orange. lol I recommend holding your breath while it sprays though. Getting mists up your nose isn't harmful but doesn't feel too pretty either. Andrew is young yes... when people point out our age difference I just say... Yeah I still got it. lol I turned him away at first because of his age actually. Then we ended up being best man and maid of honor in our best friends wedding and we have been together ever since. :D As far as his back, the docs determined his discs weren't what was causing him pain yet so opted to burn the nerves instead. Once the discs become an issues he will be getting the edpidural seroid shots.

Claudia - Yeah that lady was a pain in the ass, especially after the guy who did the pre-inspection said we were good to go! So her pin pointing things that were already OK'ed upset me. My husband thinks I flipped out on her but he litterally said to her face that she came in the house like she was on crack! LMAO So true too! Today there isn't any spotting too so I am hella excited!! I hope yours stays brown and goes away. Mine stuck around for 5 weeks, but at least the babies stayed great the whole time. I am very thankful for that!

Angela - Yes moving can be stressful, but I have taken it pretty easy. Clearing the previous house (we live on an Army post) was the biggest stresser and now that is over. Now we can focus on completing the unpacking here. There isn't much to do, just two boxes in the storage shed, a few upstairs in the hallway and the spare room. We actually have two extra rooms, one for each arriving twin but we chose the biggest of the spare rooms to be the twin's room and chose the smallest to be the spare where people can come over and sleep in case we get visiters. I am hoping to have a little help after they come home. My brother and wife plan to come so hopefully that happens. :) Glad they pushed your appt to Monday. It is better you get to see the hb the first time then worry until the next scan. I think there were a couple who had to wait like that because it was too early, most recently Claudia I believe? I am sure everything is perfect. :) Your prog levels are high, surprised you aren't feeling blah all the time. :) I am feeling a little nervous about my levels, my last day of shots is Wednesday. I know I have to stop the prog. before knowing if my levels will be stable, but I have no b/w until my next ob appt in 4 weeks. I might ask for b/w to check in between there to make sure everything is going well. :)

Hazel - Hope your trip do Dubai is going perfect!

So where is everyone else? Haven't really seen a few stop in for a while. I hope those with m/s are feeling better soon!

AFM - Ok... so, no spotting today either means I can PLAY tomorrow!!! It's been since Feb 15th so YAY! I know Andrew will be happy! Anyone else notice their DH's gaining weight or being crabby or even having cravings? Andrew has been doing all of these things. We joke and say he is pregnant with twins too. lol I have heard of this, but I have also heard that they can also have sympathy pain when labor happens. Boy, could you imagine having both of you going through labor?

Franca -- Hello and Welcome!!! When is your due date? I used this calculator and it was right on with what the doc told me. http://www.ivf.ca/duedate.php

Helene -- Well those gender tests sound really fun. We'll have to see if they were right for you! I don't think I'll take one of those because if I get my mind set on a boy or a girl and then the u/s shows something else.... I think I would go mad. Congrats either way!

Steph -- Wow... Rebecca DeMornay? Of Risky Business fame. I haven't heard that one before. But thanks for the compliment. And for the tips on Mystic Tanning. I might have to give that a try.

Hazel -- You better be having an amazing time in Dubai for us all. We miss you!!!

Time for me to get back to work!
