Yep, I'm with you Nicki...you never know! (High fives on the sex this morning  )

One girl I work with has been married 10 years...she and DH ttc for pretty much the entire time...nothing. She is 37, so they decided that it would never happen for them. They were discussing a vasectomy, as they didn't want to pursue infertility tmt, and decided that they didn't want any 'surprises' when she was 45 or something! Well, guess what? Surprise  !! Preggers!! She has a beautiful 7 mth old now...right out of the blue!

And, my DH...his uncle and wife, married 11 years...ttc...no luck. Adopted a child and bang! preggers naturally with twins!

So...miracles happen every day...the planets align just so and you're a mum! You're right...PMA all the time! :D :D :D

Nothing for me yet...likely will fall right in the middle of the week when I have an urgent meeting or something like that! That's the part I find so stressful...trying to keep things private, but also having to manage getting time off work. I am very lucky as my job is very flexible...I set my own schedule and can work from home, etc if required. But, it's just that everyone is used to seeing me everyday, so if I all of the sudden say "Oh, and I'll be out of the office tomorrow" it strikes them strange. Our clinic is about 2 hrs away, and they do weekday IUIs around noon, so that pretty much messes up my entire day. We leave around 9am and aren't back until 4pm for the most part.

Ah well...guess all the trials and tribulations will make it all the more worth it WHEN it actually happens! :)

Hello ladies
Just wanted to wish you all good luck with the IUIs. I had the insemination on Thursday and DH's sample was brilliant compared to what it was before, even in 'normal' parameters. So it's fingers crossed! The 2WW has started! I have had an HCG injection today and one on Tues to encourage progesterone. Any idea how long HCG lasts in your blood for, I don't want to test too early?
Good luck to all and so sorry Angela.

Hi Girls

Bec Good Luck with the 2ww. Relax and take it easy

Jan, Waiting to hear that you have had your surge. I know what you mean about bad timing. Last time it the meds only took 8 days to work for me. I start them on Monday and if it works out the same this time we will be having IUI on either 20th or 21st. On the 20th we have a funeral in the club for 75 and on 21st we have one for 15. The only plus side is that the hospital is very close and if we can get an early appointment we would be back in time to open up, but there would be no putting my feet up for me. Ideally I could do with it all going alot slower this time so that I can stretch it to 22nd or the 23rd would be even better. We will have to wait and see. They have changed the meds so that hopefully I react a bit slower.

Nicki, Hope the sex works. We are also trying ttc naturally too so I know what you mean. Sometimes DH dispares of me when it is a really busy day and we only get a short time off in the afternoon, you can guarentee that it the time we should be having sex. Just before starting the treatment we treated ourselves to a week in Feurteventura and DH was hoping that that might have done the trick. It didn't but I think it could be a good excuse for another holiday later on in the year.

Hope you all have a good weekend. The weekend is our busiest time and we have Monday off.

Take care
angela

IUI timing

Post by mahteacher »

I had my first IUI this past month. I got a postive LH surge and had the insemination with donor sperm the next day. I only had one follicle and was not successful. I guess my question is, everything I have read said that the insemination needs to be within 6 hours of ovulation. I know that I ovulated the day before my IUI and when I had the ultrasound the day of the IUI it showed my follicle collapsed. But I have no other fertility problems, I am just trying with donor sperm on my own, no DH in the picture. So...can someone help me understand? I would really appreciate it. I am turning 35 this month and scared that I have begun this process too late. Any thoughts are appreciated!

Mahteacher?
How do u know u ovulated? Did u do LH test? did u get surge, the surge and the ov are different, so if u got + on lh wee test stick that doesnt mean you have ovulated, it means u are about to ovulate.....

Hope that helps xx

IUI timing

Post by mahteacher »

Thanks for the response. I did feel like I ovulated because the pains in my side were very bad. I did surge, then had the insem the following day. Could the timing have been off or is that how it is usually done with frozen sperm? Thanks.

I also get pains in side around mid cycle, I always thought it was ovulation happening but since last year, I have been monitoring my cycle and making notes, I get ov pains before and after Lh surge, so really I am not sure!! But Lh surge + means that ov will happen in next 24 hrs, So your clinic is right in doing the Insemination the next day,

I had 2 inseminations on the same day as LH surge abd day afterm thought that would help but it didn't.

It's all down to mother nature. xx

Hi girls

how are you all.

Well DH and myself have had a lovely day out today at the coast. Also had to give myself second shot of menopour today which didn't hurt quite as much as yesterday. I think I am being a bit more chilled this time after the BFN.

Keep you posted

No scratch that last post the injection today hurt again. I think that if I have to go for another cycle I will go with Gonal again that has the injection pen, it is much easier as you don't have to push the syringe in. Also it might just be me but you don't seem to have as much liquid injected into you.

Hope all my fellow IUI girls are doing well. Good luck to everyone on their 2ww. Lets see lots of IUI positives.

Nicki

You are lucky. We weren't offered IUI natuarally but then again if it works better with meds let me have them. Giving the injections isn't good, though I don't seem to have any side effects with the meds which is good.
