Got our mattress! LOVE the size. But uncertain if it is too hard...I'm a poor judge of comfort right now as it is so difficult to get a good night's sleep...regardless

Mandy you sweetheart! I read the list and didn't even realize I wasn't there :o

Duh! Talk about my head in the clouds with the babies!

April 14 is the date my OB set.
THAT is 38 weeks, 3 days.
Of course he is an optimist, I shall be one as well.
Just hard to imagine how much larger I'll get

Getting soooo excited ladies...

I ordered my cribs yesterday at BU (just the Jardine basic white...Jardine CRIBS got good reviews in the Baby Bargains book but their dressers did not fare as well)...
And I tossed a lot of stuff in my cart:

2 swaddlers
2 swaddlers with halo sleepsack
Diaper Champ
lots of sheets and mattress covers etc.
diapers
wipes
just 'stuff'

Can't decide on a bouncer/swing
Do want to get a super duper #2 stroller (#1 being the snap n go for the car)
Will test drive some when my sisters are in town.

I might break down and have some friends over...
we shall see...

But I slept 12 hours last night just from that one trip out.
Don't know how any of you are working, I am wiped out a lot.
My sleep patters are OFFFFFFF. I sometimes stay up at night and sleep in the day. awful.

Love to all
Sorry I will not be on the boards a lot, but my ankles now swell if I sit at my desk for 15 minutes...and I have to devote that time to getting stuff done (ha!)

Cocoa I am wishing you a long pregnancy for your babies and for YOU (paycheck, job) and that all will work out...you are amazing, how you forge on.

Meant to add:
The BP is back down. Don't know if it's cuz I rest all week, rarely go out, and cut out all salt and junky type food, or if it was a fluke...
it was 110/60 Yesterday morning, but was up to 126/80 at my OBs...he said it was just excitement of talking about the c-section (I am always wired when I go there!)

Most days it is 116 or 126/74 or 76...we check it daily at home.

so relieved.

hello!

My C section is scheduled for April 14th which will be 37 weeks exactly.... (doctor won't let me go much later)...so if WC hangs on we could have 4 babies born on the same day!!

Had wonderful news this morning - my friend from this website had her twins, both weighed about 7lbs!! it can be done!!!

Still working full time and plan to do so for another 4 weeks if I can make it - DH isn't too excited by the idea but it's good for my head and my bank balance.

WC, thanks for the list - it is HUGE!! We are going to make a start on our shopping this weekend, I wouldn't have thought of half the stuff on there!

WC, welcome to the cankles club! I also have carpel tunnel syndrome which means that my hands feel like that of an 90 year old. Other than that though, I am feeling really well - was expecting to hit the third trimester wall but so far so good.

Wishing you all a nice evening and a good sleep

Rebecca X

PS. put on 33 lbs; am wondering how much we lose when the babies arrive - must be at least 20lbs in baby/fluid/placenta, right?
14th april 2008 - beautiful twin girls!!

My doc still hasn't ruled out the possibility of a natural birth. How scary! He says it will depend on the positioning nearer the time, but I'm all for giving it a go. What I'm really worried about is getting one out naturally and then having to do an emergency C on number 2. I don't mind going for a scheduled C if that's what he recommends for me, but I really don't want the panic of an emergency section. Plus having the pain in both places :?

We had the last of our antenatal classes last night and it was all pretty much a waste of time. Nothing you couldn't get out of books or common sense. And they really played down the whole "pain" thing. They glossed over it with the comment "it happens a thousand times a day, you will get through it". I think we all know what we're in for

It was good to see the maternity wing in the hospital though. It's the first time I've seen it and it is much nicer than I expected. The hospital is a typical UK NHS hospital (pretty poor) but the maternity unit is very nice - clean, well equipped, and as I've got twins we get a special delivery suite which doubles up as a theatre in the case of an emergency C section. I think normally they have to take you down from the maternity unit to the hospital theatre.

Love to all! xx

Vlada darling, why are you having a scheduled c-section? Did I miss something? Do you have some health problems? I am so confused...I hope you are doing well :)

Hello,
Croella,
I am having my C section by choice. I personally think that it will be better for me, so it is not a medical necessety but just my own thing.
So far I am doing good :D , I have a couple of contractors in the house to do a chair rail in the baby's room, it really dresses it up! We are going to order furniture on Saturday from babys r us, called Baby Italia in dark cherry color, I am very excited about that!!! :D :D :D
Looks like everyone is in the nesting mode, good luck!!!!!

A!! Nesting!!! :D I think I might finally get my rocker/recliner soon :D :D My DH and I are going today to look at some sofas and love seats plus rocker/recliner that will match all of it. I am very excited. Lately I intensified practicing my hypnobirthing technique where I'm trying to bring myself in the state of total relaxation. It is going well, but since I can't rest on mu back anymore getting in some comfortable position is becoming an issue :D So, rocker/recliner would be heaven right now, and of course later for breastfeeding :D

We might move back to Europe soon after our angel is born, so right now we are not thinking about baby room furniture. She will sleep next to me in a mini co-sleeper. It is quite practical and small enough so I can move it from room to room if needed :D

Hi Ladies!

Rebecca, so sorry to hear of the Carpal Tunnel!!! ouch...
30 pds or so is fantabulous...I'll prob. pack on 65 by the end of this journey, have gained around 52 so far, and for some damn reason seem to be at the rate of 2 pds per week now...no apparent reason, as I'm eating better than I have before! BABIES???? but they don't weigh much!!

I've read on boards that twin some moms are down 25 pds by the time they leave the hospital...and the rest falls away (I'm sure I"ll have to work HARD on the last 25 pounds...what the hell)

What week did your friend from the bds have her babies?

Vlada...good luck. ... thinking of you! I feel soooo much better having ordered my cribs...
today I ordered the Colgate Classica III mattress...
the Classica I is #1 on consumer reports, but the III has one side 'softer', for toddlers, and one side harder, for infants, and is a top seller ... Baby Bargains recommended the I...good luck in your decisions... BU does NOT sell the Colgate, FYI...(I ordered 2 Jardine cribs from BU this week)

Hayley...yah! I am relieved to have a scheduled c-section...even if Baby Boy were to turn out of breech no freakin' way would I go v-birth...just not gonna do it...don't want the stress on my BP and my brain, etc. Then again, I've never been an earth mama dying to 'push' ...

I just wish I had an OB who'd not let me go past 37 weeks. damn. I can't believe he thinks I can make it to 38 wks 3 dys.

I slept from 10:30 until 4:00 today...I don't sleep well at night (maybe 4-5 hrs) so daytime sleep it is for me.

Ordering stuff online today..snugride car seats and snap n go.

OK--You Brits out there: What do you think of the Jane stroller?
I'm going to test drive all strollers next week before buying an expensive #2 stroller...I like the PPerego Duette and the Jane...but I hear the Duette is a monster and heavy, and that the Baby Jogger City Series is good for the city...whatEVER...

Cocoa and all mommies 2B:

I apologize for being MIA for the last several weeks. As time progresses, I'm really breaking down a bit. The twins are doing well -- I'm just having a tough time. The back pain has been incredible. Last several days I have been having what I thought to be back labor (but no concerning uterine contractions so I'm not worrying about it). One of my twins is sitting very low causing extreme sciatica. Haven't been able to sit comfortably at work and DH has actually had to carry me to the bathroom last several nights b/c I'm having a lot of difficulty walking without extreme pain. Not getting much sleep either because I can't seem to get comfortable.

I have also developed a horrible cold. Can't stop coughing and feel like I'm gonna push the little one's out (along with all of my other organs). To make matters worse, with no bladder control, I'm literally peeing myself every time I cough (TMI, I know). Is there anything we can take to deal with a cold while prego? I'm resorting to typical chicken noodle soup, lemon cough drops, hot tea, etc. Nothing seems to help.

I was hoping to get a lot accomplished this weekend on the nesting front, but I think I'll be in bed -- just the way I want to spend my short weekend before having to return to work on Monday.

I'm 26 weeks now and my OB has me delivering somewhere between 32 and 36 weeks (more likely 36). I don't want to go further than 36 weeks -- I'm already trying to muster the strength to handle the next 10 weeks! Still working full time and anticipate doing so until 32-34 weeks depending on how the pregnancy progresses. This puts me at a new due date of May 2 (at 36 weeks).

I started getting my milk today. Anyone in that position? Called my OB and her nurse said this can happen, especially with a 2nd pregnancy.

How is everyone else doing? I haven't read the latest posts -- I need to go back several pages to catch up. Thinking of all of you -- even when I'm MIA. Best of luck and much love to all.

Baby B

Cocoa: Thanks for you concern. I read briefly about your DH -- makes me want to shoot off my mouth (I'll refrain). You are a very strong, brave and beautiful woman. I admire you!

Hi Girls!!!

BabyB - so VERY glad to hear from you!!! With everything that has happened on our board I was mightally (how DO you spell that?) concerned. I am so very sorry that you are experiencing such pain and on top of that, sickness... I know about back pain as I too have it and at times its so severe that I cannot sleep, sit up or breathe properly but my pain is in my upper back where I cannot even begin to stretch it. I have been seeing a chiropractor but there are times my muscles are so tight that my spine doesn't want to move. I guess its the babies pushing out my ribs which in turn affects my spine (as they are connected). I do remember the sciatic pain I had during my last 10w with my son and after birth due to a car accident when I was 29w so I can only imagine how you feel you poor dear... I have to take tylenol everyday if I want to sleep and if I try to be brave and not take it one night I am up between 2:30 and 5 and THEN I have to take tylenol PM the next night to get my much needed sleep... I hate that... Oh, and you can take robitussin DM for the cough BTW... I too have a chest thing going on but its not from a virus or anything - its the pregnancy congestion mixed with taking the PTL med terbutiline sulfate (by mouth every 4 hours). You can get pneumonia easily from it - GREAAAAT... Anyway, I did wind up with green spewtum (sorry tmi) so I was put on zithromax AGAIN (second time this pregnancy) as well as swish and swallow nystatin for oral thrush (which by the way is very painful - I couldn't eat and lost 3 pounds in a week between doc visits).

I too am still working and I hope to do so until March 14th which will give me a paycheck into the first 2 weeks of June. I had wanted to go back to work the last 2 weeks of June (then the school year is over) just to prepare for the following school year but I was told by HR that contractually no one in the teachers' union is allowed to come back in June after a leave so that would put my next paycheck on Sept 15th. I am doubling up on my mortgage to try to make it... I hope you are well enough to make it to your goal. I know that you had wanted to be there as much as possible cause its a new job right?

So ladies... you all seem to be getting induction dates and c-section dates but my doctor is only taking me off the PTL meds at 36w and is going to see what happens then take the babies around 38w (April 16th) if I haven't gone into labor by then (will probably still have a c-sec)... but I am still looking at mid-April... I just can't imagine getting any bigger...!!!

Well, I have my baby shower in another week but my house is a mess and many things need to be moved and cleaned but as you know I have no DH to help... I hope my dad will help move stuff (like the extra box of hard wood sitting in the living room and the office furniture still in the babies room!!!) when he and his girlfriend get here in Friday (my mom passed 5 1/2 years ago).

I have been given SOOOO many baby clothes that I cannot fit anymore into the room. They are 0-3, 3-6, 6-9 months clothes so I am set or a while huh?!? :D People are pretty generous when it comes to babies...

Anyway, gotta go cause the tax man is coming (he lost his way here on Monday) and I have to waddle to the bathroom to get dressed...

Hello Ladies,
Babyb,
I hope you will feel better soon, i am having back pain as well and visiting chiropractor, he is using ART technique on me and it seems to help.
Cocoa, I hope you will feel better as well, chest congestion is no fun.
I have ordered my furniture today yea :D :D :D !!!! Soooo extied!!! We got everythig: convertible crib, dresser, hutch and an armouar( sp?)
It was pretty spendy but we decided that this furniture will have to last my daughter at least 18 years, if she wants to change the decor in her room in the future , we can paint and do different curtains and accessories, but not the furniture.
I am having my first baby shower tomorrow ( with friends), and since everyone is bringing me gift certificates I am also very excited to go baby shopping afterwards!!! :D :D :D
Well, enough about me, looks like everyone is progressing, pregnancy is definitely tougher on twin mommies, hang in there, we don't have much longer to go!!!
Love to all,
Vlada :D :D :D
