hi belinda thanks for writing back weve probably already crossed each others paths hubby and i go to qfg wickham terrace (David Molloy). i started synarel on the 15th and should be in for egg pick up around the 5/6 of dec and hopefully this one works which would make a Good Xmas present. do you have to travel very far we have to drive approx 2hours for an appointment which isn't very good when you need to be in there so early and your in everyother day for iui cycle but as i'm sure a lot of people have already said it's the end result that counts. For our May ivf cycle we only made 8 eggs with only 2 that could be used. a bit disappointing but hopefully better luck this time. the docs increasing injection dosages and possibly increasing time so hopefully we'll have more to work with next time. Anyway thanks for writing to me hopefully hear form u again soon

thanks jo

Hey Jo,

I've heard good things about Dr Molloy, he is the endo guru I think?, a couple of the women on the committee (I'm on the friends committee as a general member) have been through him and have several kids each now. We travel about an hour each way to get to Marianne, we live in Ipswich (I work at Ippy Hospital and huby works in Brisbane), so yep, it's a huge chunk out of your day. Where do you live to travel two hours? The early morning appointments must be killers. We're currently contemplating cycle number two and are really wondrerng how we can manage it whilst hauling our Annie around with us (life does become more complicated once bubba arrives..but in a lovely way!!)..

How are you finding the synarel sniffing? A number of women find that subsequent cycles yield better egg hauls and qualities as the docs know how you respond individually to the medications. Do you self inject?, my hubby used to do the tummy injections and the bottom ones (he is braver than me!!)
Chat soon, have a fantastic weekend

Hi all. I am new to this site. I posted my first message yesterday on the Dec buddies site. Thanks for setting up the Aussie/Kiwi site - a great idea. I had been looking at this site for months and didn't know there were anyone from oz around so didn't feel comfortable writing.

My DH and I are just about to start IVF #5 through Monash IVF Sunnybank... does anyone else go through there? Have my BT on Wed to check my levels and then start the needles on Sat. Yesterday I was freaking out but today am feeling positive!

Hiya Tiger here,

Firstly, thanks Cla for Socceroos sucess :). Finally Aussie green and gold at the World Cup, I am dead excited, bring it on Germany 2006 - YAY!

Jo and Naba, welcome welcome to you both!! I hope you will find this site helpful and entertaining as I do. Jo, I hope Synarel is not giving you too much bother. Does it feel any different to last time btw? is it better? When do you start on your injections? Naba, I am not sure if anyone is going through Monash Sunny Bank....I am sure everything will be fine on Wed btw, I am sending you heaps of PMA on your way.

Bel, how was your weekend? We spent all weekend Xmas shopping for our family in UK. Start counting down on our trip to UK soon I reckon. Should I have a ticker going as well???

Heather, we finally got a heater for Gyu-chan (his name is Gyudon, but we call him Gyu-chan, Gyu-pea, Hammy, Hammy-pea.. :)) and we have arranged someone to look after him while we are away at Xmas so everything is sorted. My work is good too, it feels strange going back to unpaid volunteer work after working in Melb with proper pay. I think they were genuinly excited to have me back so that was really nice; I got them those little clip on Koalas for pressie from OZ, now it's everywhere in the shop.

Bel, not long to go now, how are you feeling? how's your tummy? I have my fingers and toes crossed for you. Only 2 more days to go, keep well matey.

I am about to start cooking dinner for my hubby. I can do chicken with ginger or garlic and basil marinated salmon. Which which?

Cheers everyone, catch you soon. Tiger.

YUM!! Your choices of dinner sound great... they are making me hungry just thinking about it. I have no idea what to do for dinner tonight. I am knackered from work and really couldn't be bothered tonight.

The synarel is a pain! It is really hot up here in Brissie at the moment and last night I had the worst case of hot flushes. I can really sympathise with the women at work who are going through menopause... not that they know what is going on. I go bright red when I am having a hot flush - it is really quite embarrassing. My hair is starting to fall out again as well. Bring on the FSH injections.

Hope everyone else is going well.

Hey gals,
Naba, welome. I am a Brissy girl as well (well Ipswich anyway!). I went through QFG in Wickham Terrace and have a little girl Annie who is one year old (and pretty goddam fabulous actually!!). I have a good friend Amanda who went through Monash, she had luck with her first cycle and had a little boy the same week that I had Annie. She was quite pleased with the Monash experience and is now pregnant second time around naturally, so good vibes from that end! Do you live near the clinic at Springwood?, I know a few of us travel some distances to get to our clinics which is a pain. We have about an hour each way. We have an appointment on Friday to discuss "options" for the future. We have one frozen embie and we like the idea of having a little brother or sister for Annie, so who knows, I might be back on the wagon sooner rather than later. I am still breastfeeding Annie three feeds a day, I don't think they like to do IVF when you're b'feeding, so might have to wait until we wean completely (it's a work in progress for us!).

Tiger, your dinner options both sound yummo..I did fresh (packet) pasta for dinner last night as we had a bit of a juggling act with trying to fit in a visit to hubbies dad who is in hospital, Annie's dinner and bath time and me getting to my monthly book group by 7:30..yikes!!!..we all got there in the end though!..You should so do a ticker (you know I'm a fan!) for the countdown for your trip to the UK...

Bella, good luck for testing on Wednesday, I have everything crossed for you.

Belinda :D

hello everyone, sorry i've taken a couple of days to get back to you belB the synarel is fine only a sore nose for about 10minutes after and that terrible taste in your mouth. I start my injections friday which i don't mind doing except when the needle doesn't want to go in smoothly and you need to push a bit harder and then I'm a bit queezy. I'm from kingaroy i know Toowoomba is an hour closer for us but we started with D M and didn't want to change seeing he has done most of the leg work with us. Hello Tiger and Naba Wow I didn't know synarel can make your hair fall out that must be stressful for you, i'll have to check my hair later or lack of.
There's a big storm coming black as black so i should finish up.

Take Care All

Good morning,

Bella, so sorry about your BFN. Have you done your blood test yet? until you get the blood test result - there is still a hope remember. I am wishing that HPT was v.wrong............ You've been v.good in 2 ww; you have done nothing wrong, ok?

Jo, I hope those needles will always go in smoothly when you start them on Friday. I think they will put me on the injectables instead of Synarel when I re-start tmt as Synarel didn't really work for me.... I am not sure if that's good or bad?

Bel, WOW, a little sister or brother for Annie. I hope everything goes well on Friday.

National holiday in Japan today, so I have my hubby with me all day - yay.

Chat soon, Tiger.

Tiger - my clinic doesn't do blood tests. They just give us HPT's, which say on the packet that they are for IVF pregnancy tests.

I don't know that I totally feel comfortable with it, but I don't feel any symptoms, so haven't pushed for a blood test.

I feel absolutely awful today, and although everyone says it's nothing to do with anything I did, I can't help but feel I am not creating a good environment for these babies to live.

Now we have no more frosties, and are moving to Sydney, which means new doctor & clinic & starting again from the beginning. I am scared about that too, because last time I went through needles, I got severe OHSS & spent 7 nights in hospital.

I can't get it out of my head that we created 6 babies, and not one of them survived. It's so sad. Although I'm not coping very well today, without all the support from everyone on this site, I think I would be a lot worse.

Good luck everyone going through a cycle or on their 2ww.

Bella.

Bella, I am so sorry that things didn't work out for you this time. Try and do something really indulgent to take your mind off things (ok, I know that will never happen but it might help to make you feel a bit better). This whole process really sucks.

I can also understand your reluctance to change clinics....it is just a further hassle that I am sure you don't need right now. Try not to worry too much about the OHSS, at least the Doc will know how you react now and can adjust your drugs accordingly. I am sure that they won't let it happen again.

Can you take a few days off work and spend some quality time with the DVD player and some chocolate? Moping seems to help me get over the disappointment quicker.

Take care of yourself over the coming weeks...and make sure DH treats you like a princess.

Best wishes
Heather

Hi to everyone and welcome Jo and Naba!

Jo, hope that hair is staying firmly in place. Good luck with the injections on Friday....I always feel a bit excited when this part of the treatment starts, it's the real nuts and bolts of the treatment. Hope you produce lots of lovely eggs.

Naba, so sorry about the side effects of the Synarel, what a pain. I will wish some cooler weather for you and start a campaign to bring back the bandana! When do you start stimming? Hope it is soon so you will get some relief.

Tiger, yum, can we all come to your place to eat...sounds much more interesting than at my house! Glad to hear that you are feeling appreciated at work and that you have introduced a little bit of Australiana into the workplace. Keep up the good work!

Bel, good luck with the appointment on Friday. How exciting!! I can't wait to hear how you get on and what the next move is. Best, best wishes for your growing family.

Hope everyone else is keeping well (have you finished packing yet MissMolly?) and happy hump day to all!

Cheers
Heather

Hey all,

Bella, I was so sorry to hear of your results, it's incredibly dissapointing. I guess it's natural after an IVF cycle to question ourselves and the whole cycle, we, as women, are also incredibly hard on ourselves. The facts are, that not every IVF cycle results in a BFP, my clinic cites a 45% success rate for women under the age of 35, so depressing though this is, more cycles don't work, than do. My doctor used to say that the more you throw the dice the much more likely things are to swing your way. Chances are, you WILL have success on the next cycle or the one after that, so keep that chin up and start thinking about the positive that you WILL get sooner rather than later. In the mean time, as Heather said, grieve in whatever way you feel most comfortable with. I used to get ANGRY    ..really really ANGRY..at the world, at my poor husband, at my dogs, at my doctor (though she never knew that!) and generally at the whole IVF lark. I also used to do quite a bit of wallowing about in pj's in front of trashy televsion / day time soapies / dr Phil etc. Do whatever you feel like (and make sure dh treats you like an absolute princess)..

Hey Jo, Kingaroy!!..boy you have a looooong drive into town, never again will I whinge about my hour each way!!..

Take care all, my appointment wiht Marianne is tomorrow, will post to let you know how it goes.

Hi gals,
Heather, I had to post the following. I have been messaging a girl on the pregnant side of this site who has been through Warren at QFG, when I asked her about Warren's sabatical, she replied with the following:

Yeah i have been seeing Dr De Ambrosis since june this year, he WAS going to start his 8-12 month break early December, but he has since changed his mind and is not going to take leave anymore, he is just taking most of Decmeber and Jan off.

When i spoke to him about looking forward to escaping nerotic infertile women i thought he would say he couldnt wait for a break, but he was very sad and said he really loved his job and all the women in his care and you could see he really didnt want to take a break, his wife had been the one who really wanted it. Dr Ambrosis is in his rooms everyday from 5am and is there til late so his wife must be an angel.

Warren truely excells at donor ivf and older women ivf, lots of his paitents are ones others wont touch. I am only 26 though and didnt need donor anything, but i wanted him as my Dr as i knew how good he was.

(I hope Jay doesn't mind me putting this in)..I just know how much you wanted to go through Warren. SO hope this doesn't send you into a tailsipin

Hi guys,
Me again (I think I've sent about the last four messages!!!). I saw Marianne (Imy IVF specialist) yesterday afternoon. We have a plan!
We will use our frosty in Feb (I have an appointment on the 10th of Feb to have a physical examination and to start blood tests), we just have the one, so certainly a lower chance of success, but Marianne thinks it's worth a go. If this doesn't take, well do another cycle of IVF and go from there. She was lovely, very happy to see Annie and answered all of our questions really honestly. She says that the breastfeeding is not a problem for either the FET or the fully stimmed cycle which is great (I wasn't keen to wean Annie just because we were trying for a second one). Johnie has concerns about me being pregnant and breastfeeding (I got soooo tired in the first trimester and breastfeeding makes you tired as well, so he is concerned that I would be utterly exhausted and chasing after a one year old), so we will have to probably stop if / when we get a positive result. My goal was to feed Annie for one year and this is certainly consistent with the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia guidelines. The world health org say two years but then this is for the entire world, so probably more relevant for thirs world countries where hygeiene issues prevail. But we have met our goal and know that Annie has had a superb start in life, so what will be will be!

Anyway, enough about me, how is everyone?
Have a great weekend all
