Hi ladies

Kynlee: how are you?

Christy: happy birthday - have you had a nice day?

Maria: thank you x And yes, I'll have cyclogest through the two week wait and if its a positive then more for up to twelve weeks. Butterflies - what a beautiful theme :-) I've just painted my therapy room in the house a light purple. Its very restful.

Waiting: kay: thank you for your kind words and I'll do that with the lemon :-) lol now when is your beta? Suppositories are yuck. Which ones are you on?

Dys24: what are patches?

Tiger: thank you so much for your lovely words and for your support and for letting me know im not the only one who thinks like that. The progesterone can be quite nasty but I havnt heard of anyone actually being sick on it. I would call your re.

Always angel: that's a wonderful lot of eggs :-) rest up now :-)

Tortillachip: oh good signs although really uncomfortable I would imagine! Im doing a different kind of Accupuncture this time - long sessions of a couple of hours but far fewer. He says im very healthy and all should go well. Im taking a homeopathic remedy too. I think I need to really get into some visualisation now.

Gina: how are you doing?

Madam x: thank you, I'll stay positive, you are right, it has happened before. What ti e is your beta tomorrow? I'll be away until wed from tomorrow morning and i dont think I'll have much internet access but I'll keep trying. I dont want to miss your beta!!!

Everyone else: see my earlier posts to you :-)

Afm: heading away tomorrow for a couple of days with my best friend. As I said to madam x - i wont have much access because its quite remote but I'll try as often as I can

Maria - Zantac works during the day for me too, but over the last week nothing has helped at night. I have to fall asleep propped almost straight up or else I wake up with stomach acid coming up into my mouth, which nearly makes me throw up. Not fun. We used the same color/decor combo for DDs room and really liked it.

Kynlee- wouldn't be surprised, DD had plenty of hair. We are team both. Purple I guess?

Patricia - I don't think there's any way I'll manage to go that long! Doc is saying maybe 36 weeks. I know your twin is a sister - are you identical or fraternal? I have big hopes that this will be your cycle!

Thank you ladies for ALL the birthday wishes. It's bittersweet not being where I had hoped to be at this time, but all I can do is hang in there and make some changes this coming year, right?

I do want to strangle that coworker I periodically talk about. Last night she talked to another manager about how she wishes she wasn't pregnant, saying her life is too complicated to be pg right now how she can't even afford to pay the electric bill. Ann, another manager came up and told me she was furious with this coworker and I asked what happened and she told me what she said about her pregnancy. I completely lost it and went to the back and cried. The coworker must of saw us talking and read my reaction because she came back there and asked me what Ann had told me. I looked at the cake the girls had brought in for my birthday and just couldnt stop crying I told her this is can't really be happening, I'm another year older with no baby. This coworker knows about my fertility treatment but I went on here I am about to spend more then 30 grand on IVF and my husband finds out his job is being cut. LIFE ISN"T FAIR! I said my point is we all have problems it's all about how we deal with them that matters. She said well at least you can focus on his job and not worry about the baby right now. I said that's not the point. I said life is f***** up and here you are wishing you weren't pregnant and I'm wishing I was and she said well now you are going to make me cry and she went into the bathroom and cried her eyes out. That evening she was still moping around and so I asked her where would she rather be at this very moment if you weren't here. She answered if I wasn't pg I would be partying on Bourbon Street, and she then looked over and asked what about me? Before I could even answer another coworker responded she would be at a hospital at this very moment giving birth to her baby. I looked over and said exactly, and the coworker said but this is your chance to party and you are off tomorrow. Did I tell you all this girl is 26 years old?

Sorry for my venting tonight, I had to get that off my chest and I cannot talk about it to dh b/c it only makes him depressed that we aren't moving forward right now. I thought maybe but he wants to get the mortgage refinanced and the truck paid off so we can reapply for the loan and borrow the full amt we need. Once he gets the job figured out everything else will fall right into place.

Personals in a bit once I play catch-up, but sending out prayers tonight for Kynlee for her 2nd lab results and for MadameX as she goes for her beta Monday.

Thinking of you Madame X! Baby dust!

Sunshine: vent away! That really stinks! It seems like you hear about more pregnancies happening all around you when you're going through major fertility issues. I would have wanted to slap that girl! So are you ok with waiting? Hugs to you!

Christy- Sorry about the coworker. Sometimes life just spits in our faces. Happy birthday!! I hope the cake was yummy.

Leora- Congrats on the awesome beta.

Amy- I actually was talking about the cells. I've been getting confused with all the reading. I've seen that abnormal chromosomes can pop up in all embryos and that mosaics can be an issue. We don't have anything particular to screen for, just maybe for a cause of repeated miscarriage. We had one embryo with xxx but from what I saw that isn't typically a cause for mc. I don't want to discard potentially viable embryos. Good luck with the reflux.

Patricia- I totally understand the nervousness about the cycle. I told my friend that I don't know whether to be excited or terrified to start again. Go easy on yourself!

Maria- You're almost there! Purple and butterflies sound wonderful.

Kynlee- How ya hanging in there? Pins and needles I'm sure!

Always- Awesome egg basket! Can't wait for the fert report.

AFM- We went to Vancouver BC for FIL birthday. It was a nice trip. MIL asked today if we have seen a doctor about a baby. I let dh handle it. I'm going to make a great effort to not let her stress me out.

We went for a run along the sea wall which was great. I ran for 2 hrs and got somewhere in the 8 mile range.

Tomorrow is my abdominal and pelvic u/s to check on the mass I have near my ovary. Hopefully we will be able to see it well. If I get pg, I'm going to request a c-section so we can take it out.

Night night for now. Happy Monday!

WaitingKay - I am also trying to eat healthy for this cycle, hopefully that will help me tolerate the whole thing better this time! I am surprised you "hid" your OHSS from your doctor!! I was in so much pain that I no even cared about the transfer after the doctor told me the OHSS would get worse if I got pregnant!

Tiger - Congrats on being PUPO! YAY!

Kynlee - First of all congratulations! Thanks for the medicine name, I will talk to my doctor about it. So you took it for 2 weeks before the OHSS (to avoid) or after the OHSS (to treat)? Thanks!

MAdame X - Praying for your positive BETA! Good luck!

Leora - Soooo happy for you! Congratulations!

Sunshine - I know how you feel. I have a friend that had a baby and is such a bad mother, the baby has been having diaper rashes lately because she doesn't clean him properly. Some women were not born to become mothers.

Alwaysangel - 21 eggs! Wow thats great! How are you feeling?

AFM: I went for baseline today, have about 7 follicles in my right ovary and 9 in my left. I was comparing the my protocols, and with the first IVF I took: 225 gonal f + 75 menopur (ganirelix protocol)

Second IVF (now): 112.5 gonal f (morning) + 75 gonal f (evening) (long lupron protocol)

That's less medication! I like that! The doctor said I should have my retrieval next week on Tuesday if everything goes like they planed. I am praying for no OHSS this time!

Turning 36 is not so bad, it's what we make out of it that counts. So this is my first day of a brand new year, while we are waiting I figured now is THE time to whip our bodies into shape! :D My research is from Naturally Fertility Diet. Today I want to plan out some weekly meals and focus on the water, the main nutrients the body needs to support a fetus.
I thought this was informational, I'll try to cut it down a little.

Antioxidants, Vitamins & Minerals for Fertility

Vitamin D: Vitamin D is needed to help the body create sex hormones which in turn affects ovulation and hormonal balance. Yale University School of Medicine conducted a study of 67 infertile women, where it was discovered that a mere 7% had normal Vitamin D levels.

Food sources for Vitamin D: Eggs, fatty fish, dairy, and cod liver oil. You can also get vitamin D from sitting out in the sun for 15 to 20 minutes per day. But absorption is impacted by the darkness of your skin.

Vitamin E: Has been shown in studies to improve sperm health and motility in men. Studies have shown a diet deficient in Vitamin E to be a cause of infertility in rats. The meaning of the name for vitamin E ‘Tocopherol’ literally means to bear young. Vitamin E is also an important antioxidant to help protect sperm and egg DNA integrity.

Food sources for Vitamin E: Sunflower seeds, almonds, olives, spinach, papaya, dark leafy greens. (Yay for dh and all his sunflower seeds (haha a huge addiction)!

CoQ10: Necessary for every cell in the body having energy to function, CoQ10 has also been shown in studies to increase sperm motility in semen. It is also an important antioxidant that helps to protect cells from free radical damage. This may impact egg health as well.

Food sources for COq10 : Found in seafood and organ meats. Amounts in the body decline with age.

Vitamin C: Vitamin C improves hormone levels and increases fertility in women with luteal phase defect, according to a study published in “Fertility and Sterility”. As for men, vitamin C has been shown to improve sperm quality and protect sperm from DNA damage; helping to reduce the change of miscarriage and chromosomal problems. Vitamin C also appears to keep sperm from clumping together, making them more motile.

Food sources Vitamin C: Abundant in plants and fruits including red peppers, broccoli, cranberries, cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, and citrus fruit.

Lipoic Acid: Lipoic acid is a very important antioxidant because it not only helps to protect the female reproductive organs and has been shown to improve sperm quality and motility but it also helps the body to continually re-use the antioxidants in the body.

Food sources for Lipoic: In small amounts found in potatoes, spinach and red meat.

Vitamin B6 may be used as a hormone regulator. It also helps to regulate blood sugars, alleviates PMS, and may be useful in relieving symptoms of morning sickness. B6 has also been shown to help with Luteal Phase Defect.

B6 Food sources: Tuna, banana, turkey, liver, salmon, cod, spinach, bell peppers, and turnip greens, collard greens, garlic, cauliflower, mustard greens, celery, cabbage, asparagus, broccoli, kale, Brussels sprouts, chard.

B12: Vitamin B12 has been shown to improve sperm quality and production. It also may help to boost the endometrium lining in egg fertilization, decreasing the chances of miscarriage. Some studies have found that a deficiency of B12 may increase the chances of irregular ovulation, and in severe cases stop ovulation altogether.

B12 Food sources: Clams, oysters, muscles, liver, caviar (fish eggs), fish, crab, lobster, beef, lamb, cheese, eggs.

Folic Acid: Perhaps one of the best known vitamins necessary for pregnancy is folic acid. This vitamin helps prevent neural tube defects as well as congenital heart defects, cleft lips, limb defects, and urinary tract anomalies in developing fetuses. Deficiency in folic acid may increase the risk of going into preterm delivery, infant low birth weight and fetal growth retardation. Deficiency may also increase the homocysteine level in the blood, which can lead to spontaneous abortion and pregnancy complications, such as placental abruption and pre-eclampsia. We can not get enough info on Folic Acid!

Folic Food sources: liver, lentils, pinto beans, garbanzo beans, asparagus, spinach, black beans, navy beans, kidney beans, collard greens

Iron: Studies have shown that women who do not get sufficient amounts of iron may suffer anovulation (lack of ovulation) and possibly poor egg health, which can inhibit pregnancy at a rate 60% higher than those with sufficient iron stores in their blood.

Iron Food sources: Lentils, spinach, tofu, sesame seeds, kidney beans, pumpkin seeds (raw), venison, garbanzo beans, navy beans, molasses, beef

Selenium: An antioxidant that helps to protect the eggs and sperm from free radicals. Free radicals can cause chromosomal damage which is known to be a cause of miscarriages and birth defects. Selenium is also necessary for the creation of sperm. In studies men with low sperm counts have also been found to have low levels of selenium.

Selenium Food sources: Liver, snapper, cod, halibut, tuna, salmon, sardines, shrimp, crimini mushrooms, turkey

Zinc: In women, zinc works with more than 300 different enzymes in the body to keep things working well. Without it, your cells can not divide properly; your estrogen and progesterone levels can get out of balance and your reproductive system may not be fully functioning. Low levels of zinc have been directly linked to miscarriage in the early stages of a pregnancy, according to The Centers for Disease Control’s Assisted Reproductive Technology Report.

In men zinc is considered one of the most important trace minerals to date for male fertility; increasing zinc levels in infertile men has been shown to boost sperm levels; improve the form, function and quality of male sperm and decrease male infertility.

Zinc Food sources: Calf liver, oysters, beef, lamb, venison, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, yogurt, turkey, green peas, shrimp. Zinc can be damaged by cooking so it is important to eat some foods high in zinc in their raw forms.

Essential Fatty Acids: Omega-3 acids have been shown to help fertility by helping to regulate hormones in the body, increase cervical mucous, promote ovulation and overall improve the quality of the uterus by increasing the blood flow to the reproductive organs.

Omega-3 fats also contain two acids that are crucial to good health: DHA and EPA. These two acids have been shown to help many forms of disease. Low levels of DHA have been linked to depression and other mental health issues. During pregnancy, a lack of DHA may be associated with premature birth, low birth weight and hyperactivity in children.

Omega Food sources: Flax seeds, walnuts, salmon, sardines, halibut, shrimp, snapper, scallops, chia seed

Macronutrients
In addition to the micro-nutrients, macro-nutrients are important as well. Getting enough protein, fiber, fat, carbohydrates, etc. is also very important. This is a time for nourishing and providing building blocks for your body in preparation for conception. The foods that should be focused on in a Natural Fertility Diet are nutrient dense foods which help to provide the following:

■Fats - a wide variety of fats are very important for fertility and the development of the fetus. Not only are essential fatty acids important but saturated fats and cholesterol are important as well. Cholesterol is a pre-curser to all hormones produced in the body including progesterone. Just make sure it is from the right foods like coconut oil, grass-fed meats, fish, nuts and seeds and avoid hydrogenated oils and vegetable oils cooked at high heat.
■Proteins - Eating healthy amounts of protein from a wide variety of sources is an important part of a healthy fertility diet as amino acids are the building blocks for cells in the body. Make sure to include both animal sources and vegetable sources of protein daily.
■Fiber - Fiber helps assist the body in getting rid of excess estrogen and xenohormones in the system and keeps your digestive tract functioning properly.

Anyway thought that was a good read, most of those vitamins we do get from taking our prenatals. But I've never stopped to look at how each one plays an essential part of the body. Here's to much health and all our rainbow babies in 2013!
