I've just finished catching up on the latest postings. COCOA! OMG! Well, I have to say I agree with the ladies -- I'm glad you are being forced to take it easy now. I'm only at 28 weeks and the pain in my back is KILLING ME! I can only imagine what you must be going through. Last 2 days, I've barely been able to walk or sit (in fact, took off Tues and wrapped myself in ice all day). At the end of the day, WC is right -- your health and the health of your babies is most important. From one who unfortunately lost her DD, there isn't any amount of money that warrants even the slightest risk to your children.

I'm so excited that the twins are growing. At nearly 5 Ibs now, I imagine they are in the safe zone as far as their growth. My kids are weighing in at about 2 lbs each now so they have some room to grow. Where they will fit I don't know. I too am having issues eating, having more constipation (TMI -- sorry) and my ribs feel like they are about to split. One of my boys is head down now. The other is kind of sideways.

Aliann: The cold sucks!!!! I just got over it myself. I was down with a fever of close to 102 for 3 days and then it blossomed into a bronchial infection. I think I'm on the tail end of things, but still have an annoying cough. Interesting note about the antibodies, though. I hadn't thought about that. A nice plus I suppose.

Robinsonpr: I think I'm probably having a C-section too. I'm actually OK with it for this go around, though. My last vaginal delivery had me in horrific pain for 23 hours and PLUS they cut me down there which was potentially even worse than the labor (not sure -- but if you can imagine pissing fire, you can imagine the pain. again TMI ladies, sorry).

Croella/Vlada: Sounds like all is going well with you guys too. Can't wait to hear about all of the upcoming deliveries. One of my family members just had a baby boy this morning -- the first. THese 8 weeks can't go by fast enough for me.

I decided to do a baby shower. Scheduled it for March 29 and both mom and dad will attend. My DH and I decided to do a co-ed baby bash with booze (not for me, of course), food and fun.

Making SOME progress, but not nearly enough on the nursery front. We bought the Maclaren Techno (lighter for me) and will also order the Urban Buggy with the bassinets for a more luxurious ride (LOL). We also got the traveling car seat from the Right Start for when we go home to visit mom and dad in TX. It's pretty cool -- basically, a car seat with wheels and a luggage handle. I've ordered the 2nd crib, but still need to get going with the bedding and decorating the room. Have a pediatrician on board. Need a nanny BIG TIME, though. This is a hard one to figure out.

OK, dinner is ready so I"m going to check out for the moment. Have my extended glucose screening at the hospital tomorrow. Hoping the prior screen was a false positive for GD. Keep you posted.

xoxo

Hi Ladies...

Well, I am officially on bedrest now and hating every minute of it. I am so uncomfortable especially given the fact that I have so many symptoms of pre-e - severe swelling with pitting edema and now my face is getting swollen, upper-right quadrant pain, right shoulder pain and intermittent headaches now. I am seeing my OB again at noon today - I cannot believe she said nothing about a 16 POUND weight gain in two weeks!!! Especially since I told her that my legs were severely swollen and pitting... UGH!!! I hate this - I need my babies to cook some more! and I am bored to death watching TV (can't really concentrate on much else).

For all you ladies who do not have completed nurseries...I am in the same boat as you all. I have a babies room full of new and unwrapped baby stuff, cribs in boxes, and my whole bedroom is filled with baby presents!!! I have heard NOTHING from that PUNK of a carpet guy and the babies room carpet does need stretching. A "friend" owes e thousands of dollars and is ignoring and I am now out of work... Well, ODAAT (one day at a time) right?!?

OK, anyone having trouble finding a comfortable sleeping position? I cannot for the life of me get comfortable and its only when I am so exhausted that I can get any sleep at all - benedryl or no benedryl so I don't even bother taking it anymore. My large belly pulls and stretches and I cannot get comfortable no matter what (esp with the urq and shoulder pain). Is anyone experiencing numbness in their hands or arms? I am and its awful... I just cannot believe how awful this pregnancy has been.

Anyone having bad reflux? I am, cannot eat anything but bland foods. This morning I had oatmeal and a special K protein bar. My proteins are eggs, cheese, peanut butter, yogurt and sometimes ice cream but even so I threw up my modest dinner of a cheese sandwich, yogurt and few graham cracker last night!!!

OK, done whinning... sorry... :-( I just can't wait NOT to be pregnant anymore which is a shame because now I have time to try to enjoy it but its not happening...

I hope you are all doing better than I - I will let you know what my OB says today...

Cocoa,
16 pounds is a lot!!!!! My OB gave me such a hard time when i gained 7 punds in 2 weeks. Low salt diet really helped me. I know you need protein, but cheese is very salty, just try to stay away form salt, you will see the difference, believe me!!!

Oh Cocoa, you vent and moan as much as you want...you have EARNED it, and with more than just the pregnancy...but I don't think even avoiding salty foods will be enough at this point, as you've had the severe edema for so long...just legs up, drink water...and breathe!

good luck today at your appt....let us know what happens...the 16 pound weight gain? That aLONE would've been reason enough for my OB to stick me into the hospital, let alone the contractions and the edema...your health is on the line here...

My OB is concerned about the very, very small amt of edema in my feet...so now, every time I go to him each week, I'll put my hosp. bag in the trunk (er, need to pack it this weekend) 'just in case' he sticks me into the hospital for something...he's not taking chances...which I think is good...he's pretty conservative.

The good news is my BP is stable and all I do is sleep all day. No More Outings at ALL...so my hairy legs, my light eyelashes I can no longer get dyed, and my heavy roots in my hair will have to wait. Oh, and the filling that is coming out (I figure the latter would put my BP through the roof, I hate dentists!)...

oh well...all for a good cause, eh?

Cocoa, it would pizzz me off re: the damn carpet guy...and the deadbeats who owe you money. Can't wait till you 'change your crowd' eh? People who borrow and don't pay back are total losers and selfish in my book!

My nursery isn't done either...but the cribs are up and it is painted...
Listen, I know of a woman who ordered 2 Pali cribs (around $800 ea.) for her twins? She waited 22 weeks, then the co. sent her another model that was cracked...that was what made me go to BU and order a simple white crib (good ratings, though, in the Bargains book) and get it set up within 5 days. I think she just used a bassinet initially..

You'll be such a great mom, but I am so sorry you've been miserable...I must say I can't relate to the bad pregnancy, cuz I've had an easy pregnancy overall, other than the recent BP rise........
BUT, when I roll over at night (I get up every 45 - 60 minutes to pee), my belly HURTS that is my only downside so far...
and tired..I am up 2 hours a day, and I have so #$%@ to do it worries me tremendously...
Baby B, best to you re: the back pain...how awful...good luck...28 weeks is terrific! But I bet you want it to pass quickly...
good luck to all...
we're getting there, it's scary...
and exciting
at 33 weeks, I now could have 2 or 5 weeks to go.

Hey Girls...

I did see my OB today... and she is stumped and I am downright frustrated!!! No protein in my urine, BP 100/72, normal NST with irritible uterus and a couple of contractions (remember I am on terbutaline sulfate every 3 hrs for PTL) so no big deal... OB did acknowledge that my rigth leg/foot looks bigger than the left but at this point I am thunder thighs no matter what (can't even bend my legs). I feel pins and needles in my legs/feet. I have to totally lay down to get any kind of relief and stop the swelling but I still have the edema and pitting. I did lose 1 1/2 pounds this week - big whoopie... its not like I can eat anyway and I am totally nauseous. I told her the urq pain is still there and I get numb in my right arm and hand while sleeping which wakes me up... her solution?!? To see me 2x week instead of one so I go back on Tuesday and in the meantime if there is pain or any problem call her er line and she will call me into L&D... ooohhh just what I wanted!!!

Vlada: decreasing my salt intake won't do anything seeing as I am not really eating much salt - cheese is not an option very often and my peanut butter is all natural no salt (and I am sure yogurt and ice cream have no salt either - I even use unsalted butter). Besides I was told that pregnant women have to watch salk restriction becasue salt is important.

Oh, I also told her my urine output has decreased but she didn't seem concerned about that either... I just have a feeling that these babies want out as much as I do...Like you said WC - 2-5 more weeks...It sucks too cause I can't DO anything...

I hope you are all feeling better than I...

I am so frustrated for you, Cocoa! I am very happy your BP is fine, but the swelling is worrisome...my OB for the first time this week brought up my "advanced maternal age" god I hate that term...all along, it's been "oh, you are healthy, etc etc" and now, it's "the babies are okay but we want to look out for YOUR health due to your age and the twins.

arrrrgggghhhhh...it's the main reason I didn't go to a peri cuz the Peris scared the living #$% out of me with all of their statements re: a woman in her 40s getting pregnant with twins...

That said, I'm eating my words now...

Is your OB a perinatologist? If not, could you ask her for a peri consult? I'm just so concerned re: the numbing in the arms, etc...(I guess there is a role for the peri here. sigh)
I KNOW you don't want a hospital stay, but if you feel dizzy or numb or anything that will alert you to a bad thing going on ... pls go to L&D...your health is imp, your babies are nice and fat and happy ;) so they WILL be okay...Cocoa, you are almost at 33 weeks...good going!

Wishing you some good sleep...you sound like you have good friends so I am hoping they can come over and help you out, or your son can go stay with a friend's family or SOMETHING so you can get the R&R you need...

Vent away on the boards...and take whatever meds you need...let me tell you, when I was in pain and took a tylenol with codeine? CanDY...and I didn't feel guilty at all ;) ...
I just wish Tylenol PM helped me, but I STILL have to get up and pee every 45 min, and my hubby says I SNORE so loud he can't sleep ... I only took it once but geesh.
Wondering when the sleeping sitting up starts.
Oh ladies...we are almost there.

I agree with Croella
What worries me is the lack of peeing (although I can't wait till THAT passes!)
You want to make sure your systems are not shutting down...it might be time to find someone to take care of your son in preparation of a hospital stay...
thinking of you

God, I totally agree with everyone Cocoa! Why hasn't your OB put you in L&D yet? 16 lbs is very concerning (particularly with all of the swelling in your arms and legs). With my first natural pregnancy, I had mild swelling and contractions at 24 weeks and they put me in the hospital (turns out I was having pre-mature labor so I had to do the whole turbutaline thing too.

I hate this "advanced maternal" description too. I'm 41 now and this isn't even my last pregnancy (I hope -- gotta try for our little girl). It does scare me, though. Don't know how many years I have left on the clock.

OK, back to Cocoa. My OB told me that her goal for me was somewhere between 32 and 36 wks. While I am scheduled for a C-Section at 37 wks, if I got to 32 wks, my OB said she'd breathe a sigh of relief. SO, at 33 wks and change, I'd say you are safe to deliver (of course, who the hell I am I to say; I'm not a Dr). Frankly, as long as my OB thinks the babies will be safe (and me and my DH never have to see another FN NICU again!), then I hope I don't last until the 37 wk C-Section. I'm so miserable now, I'm envious of all you ladies in your 32/33rd wks.

Cocoa, PLEASE be careful with your health. Can you get some friends/family over to arrange the babies room for you and pack a hospital bag (the latter being the most important?). Has someone installed your car seat for you? It's now time to call in all of those favors (hate to phrase it like that because everyone should be knocking on your door given everything you have been through -- I hope I never meet your DH because I might have to hurt him!).

I'm so happy it is Sat (although almost half way over). I SOOOOO cherish the weekends now. Even when I take a short week like last week (worked from home one day and then another day took off for my Gestational Diabetes 5 hr. test in the hospital), work seems to chug along. I think I'm just so FN uncomfortable that time is at a snails pace.

Made some progress this morning. MY DH dragged me to the health club and got me in an aqua aerobics class -- he said the water would be good for my back. For the most part, he was right. I can barely walk out of the water, but in the pool, I got a really nice work-out today. This was the first in a long time (in fact, haven't done much during most of the pregnancy :(

Going to try and be productive around the house now. Cocoa, please take care of yourself and your little ones. If you need to bug your OB 100 times, DO IT -- THAT IS WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Be a nudge. PS -- sleeping positions suck for me too and I have been having bad reflux as well. Slept propped up the other night and took a Zantac for the reflux. Still have the damn cough lingering from my cold.

All you other troopers out there (WC/Vlada/robinsonpr/croella/and everyone else I'm missing -- sorry), I'm soooo excited for you. You are almost there. I can't wait for the moment we start posting about our delivery and showing pics of our little ones!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I'm setting up a "how do I get my body back" board -- LOL!

hello ladies,

Babyb - did you get the results from your GD test? how did it go?

Cocoa, how are you my dear? wish at least one of us was up the road so we could help you. BabyB (and WC/Vlada) are right - ask your friends to help you out and get that bag packed!

All well my side, just getting very tired. One - two more weeks at work then it's me time! Carpel tunnel syndrom is still bugging me but the compression socks have helped my swollen feet and legs which has helped me out a ton...means my legs are less tired. Have my 32 week scan on Monday so am intrigued to know how big our babies are! Just 5 more weeks and then they'll be here - can't believe it!

Croella, when do you plaqn on going back to Croatia? we are considering heading back to the UK this year but wondering whether the upheaval and long flight will be do-able with the babies.... not knowing is making life a bit tough as we don't know whether to invest in doing up a nursery or just have them in with us until we make a decision.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and take care - off to the supermarket now!

Hi ladies! Yes, BabyB, how did the G test go? 5 hours, you poor dear...hope you are okay...
28 weeks, you hit the mark tomorrow! that is terrific....the time will be here before you know (and are ready???) for it! I wish you peaceful nights .. or at least an hour at a time.
Is it OK with your OB that you work out? Mine put the kabosh on exercise at 24 weeks...good thing, as no way could I even get around the block...everything tires me out! Pls check...maybe you can just float in the pool without 'exercising' and raising your body temp.

I wish my OB would change my CSection to 37 weeks, rather than 38 + 3 days! arghhhh...maybe on Tues he will...I feel fine, but I'm scared I'll be alone when my water breaks or I go into labor :(

BUT I do NOT want the babies arriving before 37+ because I want them to come home with me...and I just hear so many NICU stories it makes me sad...BabyB, you have been through so much, I am wishing you healthy fat babies...boys love their mommies!!!!!

As to the adv maternal age, I'm well into my 40s and I'd LOVE to have more kids but alas, I'll be too old to carry any more...it makes me a bit sad, as I have LOVED being pregnant ...feeling the babies kick, etc...but such is life...we actually talk about adopting (still) but we shall see....2 may kick my butt!

Rebecca, oh, go ahead and splash some paint in a room and call it a nursery, even if you only have bassinets!

2 babies will keep you up way too much and you won't have the time to organize a room for them once they are here...I understand you want to go back to the UK, but you can get stuff on Craig's list and multiples forums/clubs (we have a local moms' club, non multiples, which also GIVES stuff away)....lots of ways to set up something for the babies where you don't spend big bucks and end up leaving it all behind in the US...GOOD LUCK! so happy for you...

I am amazed at all of you women who still work...I am tired, sleep in then tend to nap for 2-4 hours a day ...

Cocoa, I hope you are okay...you mention your church quite often...don't they have a way to help you? In my ex-Catholic experience, however, I didn't find churches too helpful, definitely not as helpful as my friends from other religions' churches or synagogues...don't know why that was, but it was one more thing to turn me off to Catholicism!

XXXOOO to ALL of you wonderful moms...

Rebeccaj/WC: Thanks for asking about the GD test. No results yet (said it would take a couple of days so I suspect I'll find out on Mon/Tues). That being said, while it was certainly a drag to sit at the hospital for 5 hours going through one blood draw after the next, I think I did well. I didn't get dizzy, sweat or throw up so those are all good signs. Staying positive that the first screen might have been a false positive.

As for exercising, my OB wants me to develop my inner core strength to support my back. She suggested pilates (which I have done a bit), but when my back just couldn't handle even this any longer, she strongly recommended the pool. I'm watching myself and the instructor was really good today -- telling me when to slow down and when to adjust the exercise to accommodate my pregnancy. It actually felt really good (especially since I've done virtually nothing throughout this pregnancy). I will definitely be careful and pay close attention to any body signs that I should slow down. Think I might try another dip in the pool tomorrow (more relaxed though).

I have my C-Section class tomorrow. I have had one natural birth, but have no idea what to expect from the operation. Strange as it sounds, I'm actually excited about the class -- makes me realize that delivery is not too far off.

I'll keep you posted as soon as I hear about the GD test, but so far, I'm not worried.

G-night all!

We all agree that our main concern is Cocoa right now! I hope you are doing better Cocoa :D

I bragged about my smooth pregnancy ride, and sure enough I jinx it! I don't know if it is excitement over my mom coming today or the fact that I had some nasty sandwich in the morning - but I end up puking and having diarrhea all day long! I was unable getting out of the bed, but when I laid down I felt sick...My mom supposed to arrive to San Diego at 8:40 PM but of course, every time someone travels from Europe to visit us get stuck at the f*%@$%@* immigrations... They missed the flight (my mother and mother in law) and my darling DH had to go to the LA to pick them up...Not to mention that their luggage will be in San Diego maybe tomorrow.....I fall as a victim to the Murphy's law!!!

Sorry for whining, but it was a horrible day!

Have a great weekend guys :D

Hello all,

sorry to jump straight in with my stuff but I would like your advice as to whether I should be worried - I had my 32 week scan today and although both babies seem strong with good heart beats there is a big weigh difference. Baby A is 4lb 2oz and Baby B is only 3lb 4oz. Baby B has always been the little one but I'm worried that it's too little compared to his/her brother/sister.

Does anyone else have this??

Thanks all

Hey Rebecca,
I know that my situation is different since i am having a singleton, but my doctor was concerned today with the measurement of my belly, it seemed too small to her, i am going for an US tomorrow ( 3D again) to check on the growth. I will let you know about my baby's size , that way you will have a chance to compare. May be it will help.
I am super nervous about tomorrow, since the doctor said that my baby might measure 2 weeks behind, but at the same time excited to see her in 3D , it will be amazing.
Vlada.
