Hi Hayley...I'm getting the video monitors, the Summer (think it's called, or Sommer)...
While some books give it bad reviews, moms of twins I've met love it! You buy a 'camera' for both cribs, and buy hand-held monitors to walk around the house with...pricey...$200 or so, but that's peanuts in Pounds! (lucky Brits)...don't know if you have them in Britain.

Vlada...Rebecca...my little girl outweighs her brother by 1/2 pound...my OB said nothing to worry about...
try so hard not to worry (ha ha)

Anyone else sleep ALL DAY?
I had to DRAG myself out of bed at 1:00 to meet with the future nanny so I can show her the way around the house...she's running late (I'd still be in bed if I'd known)

I can do NOTHING. And I mean NOTHING...without needing a nap.
34 weeks tomorrow...ayayaya

Hello,
Hayley, I am bad, I don't have a ticker, just afraid to jinx things. I 'll be 33 weeks tomorrow.
My little girl is small but man, she can kick!!! Last night I woke up twice she was going crazy and it really hurt!!! Well, she is moving around , so that is good.
I think i am going to get a video monitor as well, the one you can carry around the house. I think it will make things sooo much easier.
Woodcliff, good luck wiht your nanny!!!!

vlada, I hear you on the Jinx...
I just researched, and did not buy...until around 31 weeks...then made a mad dash to get the cribs up, room painted, etc...STILL the room looks kind of bare, no baby crib pretty bedding or curtains or rug.
wah
sometimes I kick myself cuz I've seen moms at 3 months shopping at BU, but I did NOT want to jinx things and end up with baby stuff that would make me weep if something bad had happened..

Nanny is going to be good. But damn it, putting her on my car insurance will cost almost $1,000 per year...she'll have to use her own car.

or we'll have to put her on it...I have a new, nice car and now miss my OLD toyota camry...would've been cheaper to insure.

hello all

Just back from my BP scan and both babies scrored top marks which is very reassuring although doesn't answer why Baby B is so much smaller. Coming to terms with the fact that whatever happens is for the best and so we'll go along with the flow.

WC, I would love to sleep all day but I'm still working and will be for another week. Having said that I'm behind you a week and a bit so am sure that when I get to 34 weeks I'll be hitting the sack as often as possible.

Haven't bought a monitor yet but the Summer sounds good .... any other recomendations ... ones a bit cheaper?? there is a lady over the road with a new born and I hear that sometimes you can pick up other peoples babies....it could be worse for her though!!

Vlada, Baby B (my little one) is also kicking like crazy and has taken to sticking his/her little bottom up beneath my rib cage which is really painful. I guess the fact that they are so small mens that they have more room for mischief! I am sure that is why they are so small as they waste so much energy kicking!

So how much weight has everyone gained now? I'm up to 36 lbs and feeling every pound. I have mastered the twin waddle to a tee!

Off to the cirque de Soleil (sp?) tonight so better finish off some work

Love to all

Rebecca & Vlada...my girl does that too! Last night the 2 of them kept me up all night...looked like the Lochness monster under my rib cage..kind of feral and 'ewwy' not so cute!

I soooo admire that you are still working, Rebecca...hats off to all of you who are...I'm on modified bedrest for the borderline BP...need to sleep a lot to keep it down.

Hoping that I can keep the babies in 2 more weeks.

Yes, the Baby Bargains book states that indeed, your neighbors CAN hear you on the monitors due to the radio frequencies...my hubby will have to work that one out...I've heard to turn the sound down, or the monitor off, if you/the babies are not in a particular room (ie: I'll have them in various rooms around the house), or the neighbors will hear all of your conversations. NOT looking forward to that ...

I'll try to look at the book again and see if there is a cheaper one...there is another video monitor, but it does not get great reviews...I still think they are in 'infancy' of development...

night to all

Hey...

Thanks WC... I am still here... its been a rough 2 weeks for me but I have been feeling much better since yesterday as baby girl FINALLY dislodged those feet out from under my liver!!! I am just battling some contractions - though the meds seem to be helping a lot with that - and battling the swelling too. I kind of HAVE to stay off my feet and in a prone position to keep the fluid from pooling in my feet, ankles and legs. The swelling is the worst part too since I cannot be on my feet or sitting in a 45 degree angle for any length of time at all... But the babies seem to be just fine - I feel them kicking and squirming...

WC... you asked about church support... the answer to that is YES!!! I have a LOT of church support. I am so very blessed to be with a Catholic Church that has worked to accomodate me and help me. I just today explained the situation to a church leader about my DH and I know that they will continue to be there for me. But you are correct - this is not the usual in a Catholic Church since it always seems to be some political agenda attached to the "good deeds". I truly believe God brought me to THIS particular church and as I said I am very blessed indeed...

To ALL MY Ladies... You are all so wonderful... I love you all and am praying for big fat healthy babies for every one of us... Vlada - you watch girl... you will wind up with a fat baby after all... she's just trying to stay slim like her mom right now... No, but seriously I have read that FET IVF babies gain weight a little more slowly but do catch up in the end so keep eating girl...

CroElla - I still think you will be first UNLESS WC fools us all and goes on her own at 35 or 36 weeks... Me? I am hoping to last until April 5th so that I can get through my 30 day elimination period and collect some disability $$$ since I had to leave work almost 2 weeks earlier than I had planned (yeah, well, you know how that goes... the best laid plans of mice and men...)

I do NOT have the babies room finished for TWO reasons... one, because I cannot do much at one time nor can I assemble the cribs on my own so I am awaiting the help (on schedule) and two, the a$$ wipe carpet guy was supposed to stretch the carpet properly when he installed the other carpeting BUT still no word from the freak! I am beginning to really hate some people (which of course I cannot do being a Christian but this must be another "test" in which I am forced to rely on God alone - which I can handle no problem).

Well, I have to write up two reports for work which I would have done last week at work and am only now feeling well enough to do so I had better go do it... I guess all the problems I had been having was the Lord's way of telling me to slow down and take care of my babies and be careful with this old body :P )

Hi Everyone

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone:

I have not been on for quite a while but thought I would start posting since I seem to be checking the boards lately. After 7 surgeries and 4 invitros I am now 33 weeks pregnant with a little girl. Our C-section is scheduled for April 24th.

In January we moved from CT to the UK. So this is why I have not been posting. There has been a lot on my plate. I am not working for the first time in 30 years. Wow... a lot of changes.

Things are different in the UK. You see midwives instead of Drs. Since I am having a c-section I got to meet my Dr. once, and won't see him again until the C-section. Also things take longer here. I had my blood drawn for thyroid (which I have to monitor) and they tell me it will be 10 days before the results come back. In the states I always had the info the next day. Also they don't use gloves when taking blood and they don't put alcholol on before they stick you. Wow. I think there might be someone on this message board from the UK. Is it Haley? What are your thoughts on this? Maybe it's just what you are used to.

Everyone here has been very nice and I am looking forward to this adventure for the next few years. The area we live in is 2 blocks from the water with beautiful walks that I can't wait to take advantage of.

Me.... I am very uncomfortable. It takes me 4 hours to get to sleep each night because of acid reflux. I have found a trick though. If I get up , eat breakfast, take a bath, then go back to bed until noon, I seem to be able to sleep fine. I don't know why I can sleep in the morning but it works.

It's been nice reading everyones posts. It's nice to see that everyone is coming along even though I know some have had some real challenges. This is the only time I have been glad I am not having twins, which I really wanted.

Talk to you again soon.

Just another quick note on gear... has anybody looked at breastfeeding pillows? I saw one for twins called "EZ-2 Nurse". They do a foam one and an inflatable one, the foam one would probably be better. It's very big, and quite pricey though. Thinking about maybe seeing how I get on with breastfeeding first. Loads of my friends and my sister couldn't breastfeed because the baby just wouldn't latch on, so I'm hoping I get on a bit better...

hello all,

My turn to be ill now - have a hacking cough which is also giving me a sore throat :( Everytime I cough the babies get squashed up and am sure are wondering what's going on. have juts been to buy some syrup in teh hope that I can get some sleep tonight.

I bought the EZ2 pillow and also the covers that lie over the top as I imagine it gets messy. It not actually as big as it looks on the photo's! I bought the foam version as I know that there won't be a lot of time to puncture repair the blow up version if I get a hole in it.

Kipatte, welcome back! I'm a Brit living in the US so undertsand the differences. Unfortunately it comes down to a very poor (as in financial) NHS system so you don't get the service or the attention you get over here. I have been overwhelmed how good it is here but then I guess we are paying for it. I'm happy to hear that people are being nice to yu though as that costs nothing. Where are you living?

Have my first NST tomorrow and have no idea what to expect - can you fill me in?

One last week at work then I'm out - can't believe it and have concerns that I will not know how to fill my time before the babies arrive - hopefully I've got 3 weeks to play with!

Hope everyone's had a great weekend

K-what an exciting time for U! I can't believe you moved during your pregnancy...hats off to you, and wishing you and your babies well! I think all the talk of a Universal health system here in the US, well, sometimes Americans, we forget that we get top of the line service (if we pay for it and have coverage) and we'd freak out a bit with the slowness of Universal coverage...best to you adjusting to the differences!

Rebecca, aw, so sorry you are sick. Try holding your stomach when you cough (it's what they say to do after open heart surgery, to hold the scar so it does not hurt as much)...sounds stupid but I have to hold my belly tight when I cough, laugh, etc. GET BETTER!
You are almost there! woo hoo.

Croella...hope you had way too much fun at the shower...I think showers make the reality sink in. I didn't have one (too overwhelming to think of for me) but when my friends have given me gifts recently, it really sinks in that my babies are on the way!

Hayley: Someone gave me the pillow...it is large...I'd probably wait and just get a boppy or two (pillow) ... I'm getting 2 of them as the baby nurse said you can prop the babies up while they take a bottle (I hope to do a little BFing, pumping, and bottles/formula so others can feed the babies while I sleep and recover from the c-section).

best of luck to all...my PT nanny has been coming by to get to know our family routine, do the laundry, put together swings and try to put the FREAKIN car seats in (still haven't mastered that)...she's great.. I just want to keep her happy, as she knows how to care for twins.

Best to all...
off to order more baby stuff and take a nap.

just bumping us up...hope you are all doing well...and that Cocoa is just resting   awaiting her wee ones!

Off to the OB tomorrow...always nervous that my BP will be 'high' rather than 'borderline' ... oh well. Not so much I can control anymore. I just want to get to 36 weeks, which is next Friday!

35 weeks on Friday...really can not believe it...
