Hello All,
I'm really trying to keep a PMA but not succeeding very well.
I am really struggling through this 2ww and just want the whole thing to be over - one way or the other. DH and I are going to go out today just to get me out of the house as staying in a taking it easy is driving me mad.
At least by this time next week I'll have had my test (although I won't get the result until later in the day). The last 2 tmts I've started bleeding 2 days before the test date so I'm really counting next Wed as the day I should know.
Trying to keep a PMA - honest!!!!
Take care all
Love

Hey Over 40's!!! Sorry I haven't been posting much. Not much to report except I am still waiting (2WW).I think most of you will understand that I want the test results to be positive but would perfer a negative if it means I will miscarry again because of low egg quality. I will try embryo adoption next rather go to IUI again as my doctor has hinted I should. There is a small batch of embryos at my clinic that the nurse says I can have if this fails or I miscarry. Still she cautions that the likelyhood of conception is much lower using frosties. I have seen a photo of the 2 little boys of the donating parents and they are adorable & a great match. Hey Debbie.... I will say a prayer that you get a wonderful positive and a very healthy pregnancy. 40's Power!!!! ???
Ladies thanks for listening, and again I'm sorry Ive been out of touch...just waiting for some news to report.

Debbie and Katie. I know how slowly the 2ww passes and gives us WAY too much time to dwell and worry and think. It will pass and in just a few days you'll be able to say 'I get my result this week' and then the days will just slip by, hopefully until those BFPs start rolling in
take care
How is everyone else?

Dear DebraP...so sorry I didn't mean to leave you out. It is hard for me to keep up with all the 2wwers. Is wonderful to have another 40 Crowder in the mix. Wow, You test this week!!! Wouldn't it be the best if all the 40's got POSITIVES!!!!
Some of you guys do such a good job at knowing all the participants in each thread. I'm still struggling so please disregard my blunders
Love and Hugs to You Debra!!!!!

Katie, you're v.sweet but I don't start tmt until the end of the month. Sorry if I've confused you somehow. When I said 'it gives us way too much time.....' etc. I was talking generally, having been there, done that several times.
I'll take your support tho' thanks
Debra.

Debbie,
I was looking at your test date and trying to figure out....how long after retrieval do they make u wait to test? I think it's standardly done on the 14th day after ER here. I'm hoping positive for you.
Katie,
I'm thinking positive for you too! Our embryologist told us to think and imagine the embies implanting after transfer. I actually dreamed of tiny embies with little picks, shovels and jack hammers digging in my uterus. It felt that way with all the cramping.
I'm sure i'm missing someone and i'm sorry but it's tough to keep track.
My repeat HCG on Thursday was 241 that was 69 hrs after the first one of 43 on Monday. We repeat again tomorrow but at this point they are still thinking more than one. New job is not what I was expecting and i've been out 12-13 hrs. everyday. I'm on call 6 days next week and i'm worried I could be jeopardizing the pregnancy. I'll wait a bit longer and see. Time for bed!
Debra...another blunder, but you'll begin a cycle at the end of the month (did I get it right this time ). Wonderful!!! Lisa...I can't wait to hear about the results of your first U/S. I'm hoping for twins!!!!! Isn't that one of the little blessings that goes along with this process?
Wishing all the 40 Crowd a great evening!!!!!
Love & Hugs

Lisa - my clinic does a blood test 14 days after ET, hence my test date. However, on my past to IVF's af has shown up on day 12 after ET. Only very light bleeding on day 12 then full blown af by day 13. So this is the day I am really going to be worried on. I'm sure I will spend most of it going backwards and forwards between the sofa and the loo.
I still don't have any symptoms of anything, other than still feeling tearful, but I guess at this stage that could be anything. Woke up this morning with a splitting headache and feeling slightly queezy but I'm sure it would be far too early to be getting morning sickness even if I am pg. Guess it could just be stress!!!
The weather here is awful today so I can't even laze around in the garden - think DH and I will drive each other crazy today.
Hope all of you are doing ok.
Take care all

Hi Debbie...it's Katie the other over 40 2wwer. I'm wishing you all the Healthy Baby Fairy Dust I can muster. I looked in my 'handy dandy (smile )Pregnancy Journal a Day-to-Day Guide to a Healthy and Happy Pregnancyand according to this book by Christine Harris, signs of morning sickness are listed as early as day 12. Here is the Day 12 quote, "You may experience some nausea at this point. Fatique, stress and a prepregnancy diet low in vitiams minerals, and carbohydrates can make your nausea more severe.
If I'm being too positive just kick me. Its so easy to be positive when its for someone else...As for ME...... If I am pregnant will it be a healthy egg? If I'm not pregnant does that mean my body doesn't work anymore. Don't laugh. These are all my over 40 crazy thoughts !

I agree, this 2ww business is perhaps the toughest part of the whole journey. I seem to swing from chilled and PMA all bouncy and happy to being an obsessive knicker checker full of Henrietta hormones. I am sure it is all to do with the massive dose of Cyclogest each night. I seem to have hyper sensitive smell which makes me queasy and really disruptive sleep patterns -- cyclogest again.
Never mind only a few more days to go so I shall take advantage of being allowed to rest lots as this may be the last weekend I have a viable excuse or it could be some useful practice for 9 months of it
Two days ago was convinced my Af was arriving, now all symptoms have gone. I'm off now to buy a stock of HPT (as I live out of London my clinic said to do HPT first) probably one in every colour so I'm sure of whatever result I get.
Take it easy girls - some of us are nearly there, others are nearly starting and it is amazing that we are all having a chance at trying to create our own miracles.
Nuala, Great to know you are along for this too. Your test date is Aug. 17th and I'm on the 18th. Wishing you a LOVELY BIG FAT POSITIVE ON THE 17th!
PS Check out Claire's thread: Preg. sy. for 2wwers. She lists a website www.babysnark.comthat has a ton of women who experienced AF feelings without the flow...and later learned they were pregnant!!!

I had AF feelings all through 2ww - in fact up to about 12 weeks pregnant I felt bloated, stomach cramps and sore boobs. Unfortunately you get the same physical symptons for both senarios - but it is the AF one you are most familiar with on a regular basis.
All you can do is think postively, keep calm and stop second guessing every ache and pain.
The 2ww is not a pleasant experience but necessary to get what we want in the end. Most of all try to remember DH/DP is struggling at this time as well.
Good luck to you all - may you be covered in baby dust from head to toe.

CarolieP - you are an inspiration just 1 year younger than me and your pregnant - how wonderful. Do you min dme asking where you are and which clinic you're attending? Did you have straight IVF? Spologies if this is too much to ask.
Today I'm hot as hell again and have a strange deep pain above my pubic bone (sorry TMI). Was very low last night and cried again this morning. Told my DH how isolated I feel being on my own through this particular time and he was very upset that I was upset. Never mind he's back on Monday and I will come back from London to be togethr when I test.
Wishing everyone else testing over the next few days +ives.
Of course I dont mind you asking - sharing of information is a really important function of this site.
I had 6 months of clomid treatment before starting IVF at the Nuffield in Woking.
I was folically challenged on my 1st treatment so they decided to put me on a flare cycle (no chance of me over stimulating). The flare cycle involved 10/11 days of buselin and menopur (max dose) with 4 x scans (baseline + 3) for follicle development. Then standard EC and ET 3 days later, I produced anything from 3 to 6 eggs of varying size and quality, always resulting in 2 embryos (no freezing option for us). Pregnancy test 14 days from ET - at home testing kit. The whole cycle from start to testing is approx 4 weeks and I was given one natural AF break between fresh cycles.
I can't say it was a very pleasant experience and DH was very unhappy with me having to inject such powerful doseage of drugs. During my 1st and 2nd treatments DH was also working away from home weekdays which did not help.
The only change we made during the last treatment was that I did not work during my 2ww. My GP signed me off and my boss and work colleagues made it very easy for me to sit at home and relax. DH was far happier with me at home for those 2 weeks.
We do not know why this 4th treatment produced a +ive result, as I said before all my symptons were the same for each treatment and 2ww.
If I have missed any info please let me know.
