ooo Chris ... thanks for our surgery lesson .. that sounds painfull .. they were at you from all angles :o :o I think when you go through IVF you lose all your dignity as your are always having to speread your legs or up in stirrups for some routine scan, check or ER/ET .. and some women won't even go for a smear due to embarrassment

Hope now its a few days post op that you are feeling slightly better and not as sore .. can you manage to have your bed rest on a lounger in the garden in the sun ??? .. fresh air always makes me feel a bit better .. big hugs honey ((())) xxx

I hope someone is going to come and play with me today ????? .. not going to see RE till 8.30pm so going to be a long day !!!! .. managed 2 days without crying though, but not sleeping very well :(

Did you all have a good weekend ??

Friend of mine had garden fete to raise funds for a sponsored walk she is doing up the Shilthorn in Switzerland (its the James Bond mountain with revolving vafe on top) so DH and I were helping set up satirday and I was on tea stallyesterday!! .. in 3 hours she raised £750 I thought that was amazing as not lots to really buy there .. tombola, raffle, bric a brac, fce painting and a cake stall .. my will power yesterday amazed me as I resisted all the yummy cakes and childrens pick and mix .. my favourite!

Nothing much planned for this week off work .. need to get my head round actually wanting to go back .. can't stay off forever :( :(

Whats everyone else been up to ????

Chriss,

So sorry that you're in so much pain. Are you feeling better today?

Loved your description of the procedure. When I had my lap done, I was stressed out before it and couldn't sleep simply more because of indignity in the whole procedure than anything else

You forgot to add that they also put a camera through the incision in the tummy

On a serious note, the bloating is a side effect of the gas being pumped into your stomach. What may be helpful is a carbonated drink. I know it doesn't make sense, but a nurse suggested it and it really helped me. Just plain soda water did the trick. Do your shoulders hurt? I have forgotten the explanation but again the gas touches some nerve which cause pain in the right shoulder area. The best thing for that is a gentle massage in that area. Are you taking any painkillers?

If you are still experiencing pain of any sort, you should speak to your clinic. Do you find it painful to walk around? I like Carolyn's suggestion of lounging in the sun if you can.

Let us know how you are feeling.

Carolyn,

Did you say your RE appointment is at 8.30 PM???? :? Your RE works at that time???

I know it will be terribly difficult for you to get back to work, especially because of the stressful nature of your job. Its difficult, but try not to think about that for this week at least. Work is not going anywhere - it'll be waiting for you. Make the most of this week in dealing with your emotions. Is your DH back or are you on your own this week?

Love your will power in resisting all those goodies especially when you're feeling emotionally low.

Well, hope you're going to come on here more often today. Unless you are managing to get some sleep during the day.

Its good that DH is around so you can go for your appt together. Have you decided to stick to the same clinic or have you been looking into others?

Yes, I did have the same procedure last year at this time, except for the bit to remove the endo as they said there was minimal endo - not enough to prevent pregnancy. I still have signs of the two incisions though.

You're right on the bit about raining when you go camping

I think we will stick with clinic .. see what they say tonight .. could not go for follow up without DH .. he will be able to ask all questions when I cry

Am going to ask if we should have nay other tests .. as had basic ones done and when they discovered DH low count sort of took that as the reason .. maybe also something with me .. like only one ovary working as both times only got follies from left ovary ?? and also got tilted womb .. which makes ET painfull and it is tilted backwards so no wonder never got preg naturally as the poor little swimmers .. the few there are would never have made it up there and then prob every other month nothing for them to reach anyway!!!!

What other tests have you had then except lap ?? - is yours DH or you or unexplained?

Well hello my lovely ladies...!!!

I see Angel and Carolyn have been a bit busy!!!

How was everyone's weekend??

Chriss- How are you? Are you feeling any better??

Carolyn- You really are a strong person. You amaze me with your strength. I cant believe your RE is working that late. That is so funny to me. But it is nice that they work more then 8-5, to accomodate all clients. I am happy DH is going with you. He will give you strength.

Angel- Hello my love!!! Are you working today? If so, you better not be working all day...I want you to play with me!!! :D Angie ditched us.... What about Becky? Did she ditch us too???

Ok, I have a story to tell you girls. It really doesnt have anything to do with what we talk about...

So, DH and I are paying all of our IF tmts out of pocket. We had to pay for all the tests to find out what was causing our IF. So we were at the Urologist, and we are sitting in his office while he is telling us that the only way for us to have a baby is through IVF. Well this was quite a blow to me. Obviously I knew we might have to go that route, but to hear it is are only chance was quite shocking. Well I started tearing up. Guess what this DR said to me...

He said, stop that. You are making your DH feel worse then he already does. (granted i didnt want to make my DH feel bad) Then he goes on to tell us that many women who "think" they want children do not really want them. They just like the "idea" of children. Needless to say I was really pissed off. Do you think I over reacted???

Hi Mir .. no I do not think you over reacted .. why else would we even begin to put out selves through this process if we did not want children ?? .. i can see what he was saying about making DH feel bad though as I suppose 'DH's all feel bad when it is them with IF issue and that it means we have to go through all the injections, undignified legs in air and scans etc .. I know my DH does.

Us women are human too and often it is easier for men to control there emotions as not man thing to cry in public - but for a women its acceptable and not such an issue .. we need to vent our emotions and thats why we all use these boards :)

How was the party .. did you get some nice presetns ?

Miracle,

You most definitely did not over react. And I'm not just saying this cause you're my friend. I agree about the bit that DHs feel guilty that we have to go through the whole process; I know my DH feels bad every time he had to give me the injections. But that is no one's fault. Its nature - women were meant to bear children, therefore we have to go through the process too. I feel embarrassed to admit this but once when I was having a really low moment after my BFN, I took out my anger on DH and said what does he know of feeling bloated, sick, anxious during the 2ww......etc. I know  I felt like a terrible person and apologised. But my DH took it all on the chin and said that when it happens for us, I will have the amzing feeling of another being growing inside me and everything that goes with it.

Ok, I'm going off on a tangent here, but my point is that it does hurt both us and our DHs equally, we just have different ways of showing and dealing with it. And if your way of showing it is by crying, there is nothing wrong with that. I'm sure your DH knows that no matter what you still love him and stand by him.

And like Carolyn pointed out, why would you put yourself through all this if you did not really want a baby????

I really think that some of these specialists need a lesson on sensitivity  .

go girl go!!!!

I said to DH that only some one who had been through IVF could counsell you as they truly understood what iot felt like .. he pointed out though that lots of doctors .. cancer specilaists etc have not experienced cancer but are capable of operating on you to remove etc .. I said it was not quite the same .. man logic

I think though you truly need to go through IVF and people who have not cannot understand the pressure and pain of the BFN cannot eevn begin to understand what it is like .. mmm I will be on my box at speakers corner next

sorry, I keep forgetting about my pressies...

Dh gave me some flowers and a new phone I have been wanting... :D

My MIL & FIL gave me gift certificates.

My Dad gave me fuel for my fireplace. It is a non-burning and non electric fireplace. It takes this gel stuff and it is pricey. I was really happy about getting that!!!
