Hi Girls....

You're right...the twins dream is great in theory, but in reality would probably be very hard work! I think our IVF experience so far hasn't been great, so we have always seen it as a perfect way to end ever having to do IVF again. But really....I just want a healthy baby.

Jo - hope all goes well with your scan. Glad to hear you're OHSS is settling a bit. I know what it's like - I put on 15 kilos in a few days, and it's agonising. Everyone told me it's just like when you get pregnant, but in reality, you grow that baby belly gradually, not in a matter of days. so it is definitely a nightmare! Let us know how it goes as soon as you can. I will keep all the positive thoughts going for you!

Bel - what do you mean by a natural cycle? I know I sound a bit vague, but everyone seems to go through a completely different path, so I'm interested in what that means for you.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!!

Bella.

Hey Bella,
Don't get me wrong, twins would be great in many regards, especially the whole instant family concept of never having to go through either the IVF or the pregnancy / delivery trauma again..I also really would like that they would be friends growing up and might potentially entertain each other some of the time??? Jomae might have to tell us in about 9 months time, I have a bit of an inkling that she might be headed down this path!!

A natural FET cycle means one that is not drug assisted, ie I ovulate naturally and the embies are put back in about two days after the Lh hormal surge which indicates that ovulation has taken place. Some women need to take the ripening type drugs to cause ovulation in conjuction with a FET cycle, but because I ovulate naturally I don't need to do this..Know what you mean about lots of different cycles etc, can blow my mind sometimes just how much variety is out there!!

Take care all
Belinda :D

Hi Gals,

Angel, I hope the injections are not giving you too much bother; I am sending you tons of baby dust in your way for an excellent result. Do let us know how you go on Thus, I have my fingers crossed for you.

Bella, I am definitely going for 2 embies if I ever get to that stage and if the docs let me. Wh-y not ;)??

Belinda, you know I have forgotten how HOT it is to be in 40c plus weather...do you think it will be still that hot in mid Feb? just for me?

We arrived back safe and well this morning. Now I have to think about returning to OZ to restart my tmt - busy busy.

Cheers, Tiger

Hi everyone - another busy couple of weeks on the board - firstly, a big CONGRATULATIONS to Jo and DP for your BFP - what great news to celebrate the end of the year with!!

Tiger - welcome back - would gladly swap the heat for the snow - this poor little Tasmanian was just about melting last week (NYE it was 42.9). (Un)fortunately I imagine you will get your wish of a 40+ day in February in Melbourne!!

The new house does not have air con (yet...), so planted myself in front of the evaporative cooler and survived - ironic to think that if I had not finished work early, I could have been in airconditioned comfort...but it has been great being at home when we moved, and also because the kids are now on school holidays - although they are starting to get a little stir-crazy and are heading down to their grandparents in Hobart for a week on Sunday.

Bel - is there anything you need to be doing in the lead up to your transfer? I think I read (on another post?) that it is a natural transfer, so does this mean that it is 'just' a matter of monitoring where you are in your cycle and then calling the clinic? What have you decided to do re breast feeding?

I had my 34 week check up yesterday - it looks like our footling breach has done a flip and is now right way up (ie upside down) - my dr is on leave and she has an ultrasound machine in her room, the locum doesn't, so not entirely sure, but she was pretty convinced that the baby had turned - how could I not know??? She was very diplomatic, and said that as the body matures (ie ages...) and with a subsequent pregnancy, the uterus become 'more forgiving' (ie less toned??) - so I guess that is how. Interestingly, the heartburn which had gone away is back with a vengence, and I wonder if this is a result of the movement. Blood pressure is up a bit, so also need to keep on eye on this, otherwise everything is looking good. We are booked in to a refresher birthing class in a couple of weeks, as much to see the hospital as anything, because I have not been there yet. Things are starting to feel a bit more real, as the house move and Christmas are now out of the way - starting to look at practical things, like do we have enough singlets and socks, and where can we buy bulk nappies.

Hope everyone had a good break and that you are all able to stay cool (except Tiger!)

Hey there gals,

Jo, can't believe that you're 34 weeks!!..Only six to go!!, how exciting..you're really at the business end of things now. Annie flipped a number of times during the later stage of my pregnancy and I didn't feel it at all. My obs said that they usually do it when we're asleep and therefore more active, and not to feel bad that I hadn't picked it up....you're not alone!!..My FET cycle is literally just a matter of waiting until I ovulate and then the little embie is put back in..fingers crossed it's all OK!!!

Make sure you keep us updated please, your bub will be the first aussie/kiwi thread bubby (along with Annie-Boo, but she kind of preceeded it I guess!!)

Take care all

Hi guys,
Angel, that's fab news, what a great bunch of follies you have there, let us know how you go on Monday won't you??, good luck for it all, hope it goes swimmingly.

Well, I have some news today. Seems that I am pregnant. OMG! I am officially nine days late today, so yesterday I peed on a stick (OK, two of them to be honest) and both of them came up as positive straight away. I went to the GP who did bloods and they came back positive this morning. No idea what to now, never been in this position before of an apparent natural pregnancy. I am taking things one day at a time and not getting too far ahead of myself, so I guess I'm waiting now for a scan? I see my GP again this afternoon to devise a plan..will let you know...think good thoughts for me!!

Bel - WOWWOWOWOW!!!!!!! This is fantastic news, I can't stop grinning!!!!!!!! How wonderful and exciting for you both!!!! Your head must be spinning - perhaps it was all that positive thinking in preparation for the FET??

and Angel - 20 eggs - surely you will have some over to freeze - are you going to have ICSI (your ticker says low sperm count)? We had ICSI as DP had a vasectomy about 10 years ago and chances of successful reversal were slim - worked for us! All the best for EC next week.
