Hey ladies, wow this thread has really slowed down! Are we all moping around the house with morning sickness and not feeling up to posting? I'm feeling a bit more human today so thought I would post a quick message.

Gamergirl/CK - how's your morning sickness? If you have got it as badly as your first pregnancy, it must be difficult to look after your little one. 'Fraid I haven't discovered a magic cure this side of the pond, but for me the solution (or part of a solution) has been acupuncture, acupuncture, acupuncture. It has taken two visits a week for three weeks (now on one visit a week) but I have gradually improved each week (the effect is cumulative). I would say that my m/s has gone from being a 9/10 three weeks ago (where I couldn't stand up without being sick, was struggling to eat and drink anything, even water, and was losing weight rapidly) to a 4/10 yesterday (I'm eating and drinking again, albeit less than before I got the m/s, I'm only actually sick maybe once a day, the nausea is still there all the time but is more of a background noise, and I've stopped losing weight). I'm praying that my m/s is going to tail off around 12 weeks, but if you had it through your whole pregnancy last time and think you will again, acupuncture might be worth looking into to see if it could help you.

BRMommy2B - wow, you saw Hope bouncing around on the last u/s, how exciting! Have you been signed over to your OB now? What did they decide to do about your estrogen/progesterone? I'm afraid I can't say what levels they look for at our stage, as in my clinic they didn't test the levels in my blood once! I'm only on one Crinone gel vaginal insert a day until about 12 weeks, and the clinic didn't seem at all bothered what my progesterone levels actually were!

myc - welcome, it's nice to see a new face on this thread! I'm sorry to hear about your bleeding. Personally, I haven't had any bleeding but from everything I've read it's pretty common, and some people bleed on and off all the time without there ever being any problem with the pregnancy, particularly in the early stages. What were the results of your blood test? I hope your u/s goes well on Wednesday, it's incredible when you get to see the little bean and it's heart beating away. Do you know your likely due date yet? How many embryos did you transfer?

Wonder whether we'll get any more new people joining us?

AFM, after we got signed off by the clinic at 7wks2days after our u/s, we went to our local doctor last week to let them know that I'm pregnant. Apparently all of my care is going to be midwife based and I won't have much to do with the doctor, so we're now waiting for the midwife to get in touch to make a first appointment to see us so that we can find out a bit more about this whole process. I was expecting to be put into the hospital system and get given a date for a 12 week scan, but the doctor said that since we've already had a 'dating' scan at 7 weeks at the clinic, that I won't be offered a 12 week scan on the NHS and will next be seen at 20 week. What????? So I think we've decided that we're going to pay to have a 12 week scan done privately (and for a nuchal scan at the same time to do a Downs Syndrome assessment). It seems way too long to go for 13 weeks without a scan (even if this were a 'normal' pregnancy, let alone one that I've waited 4 years for and done countless fertility treatments to get!!), plus we want to have the reassurance that everything looks OK at 12 weeks before we announce the news any more widely.

Oh, and one last thing, I swear that I'm starting to get a little baby belly, even through the books say that you don't start to show until the second trimester, particularly for a first baby. Anyone else feel that they're starting to look pregnant?

hello! i got my blood test result and beta was like 92000! it was around 14days after my 1st beta...since i got a good number, the nurse told me not to worry about the bleeding. i will do the 7week u/s next wednesday. Hope we will see healthy heartbeat.
other than bleeding, i have cramps on and off but no m/s yet. will see what happen next week.

All is OK with me, the acupuncture has improved my morning sickness again a bit this week, which I'm very thankful for. The midwife finally called this afternoon and is coming to the house for our first visit on Saturday afternoon (yay!) and we have booked a private nuchal scan for Friday 19th (when I'll be 11wks3days) as I'm not going to be offered a 12 week scan on the NHS. If all looks OK at that scan, I guess we will start telling people our news that weekend. After weeks of inactivity, it suddenly seems as if things are starting to move along! Yippee...

AFM, we've officially been released from the RE, and my next appt is with my OB is two weeks from Friday, which will be week 13 exactly. We're going to do our first trimester screening tests as well as the long first OB appt that most people have around 8 weeks. I am continuing to take Endometrin 3x per day as my progesterone has stayed around 25, and he'd prefer that it be around 30 (although 25 is fine and well within normal).

I'm feeling OK, just a little nausea bout 1-2x per day, but I do have a warning for you all. Do NOT skip meals once you hit around 10 weeks or so. Last night I was extremely busy at an event for my company, and didn't have dinner until about 9:30 pm. While I was waiting in line to get my food, I suddenly got very faint and nauseous. I started sweating and really thought I was going to pass out. The nice people in line around me told me to go sit down and then when it was my turn I walked back up and got my food. After I ate and sat for a bit I was fine, but it wasn't fun at all! So keep feeding yourself and that baby. You both need the nutrition!

Hi Ladies, Thank you everyone! 1st U/S went great! We saw 2 heartbeats! My DH couldn't stop talking all morning.
He is already talking about buying a bigger car....I have to keep reminding him it is still too early to get too exciting....I know, sometimes, i am a party pooper.

Hazel, oh...i forgot to ask about the due date but i used the pregnancy calculator once, i think it will be around end of Sept. How are you doing?

Sorry I have been MIA lately. My laptop was sent off to be fixed so I have been away from the computer at home.

Well I am 10 weeks today and doing great baby wise. My m/s is still with me but it seems to be stalled at manageable. Thank goodness it is nothing like my first child! I have found that i have to continuously eat. NEVER let my stomach get empty. I also chew a lot of gum now. lol What triggers the actual throwing up is all the after tastes that I get from food or drink, thus the gum. I went in for my first OBGYN appointment this last Monday and got to have another u/s. Everything was perfect and the heartbeat was pumping at 159 beats per minute.

My doctor put me in the "high risk" category due to my age. I am only 35! That is fine with me lol it means that I will be seen every four weeks with an u/s. My insurance will cover it as long as the "high risk" is attached. Anyway that's what is happening in the world of CK what is going on with everyone else?

I have a question. Are any of you ladies going to use cloth diapers or are you sticking with the disposables? I am thinking of going cloth.

CK: Great to hear you're doing well! I should probably eat more often but my body isn't used to the routine and I don't feel hungry until after I feel sick, so I am just trying to nibble along even when I don't feel like it.

As far as the diapers, I don't really know anyone who has used cloth diapers, but there is a service in my town that comes to your house once a week and drops off a full load of clean diapers and takes away your dirty ones.

I don't know how much the average person spends on diapers per week, but for 50 cloth diapers switched out each week it's $17. I just bought my friend a box of 64 diapers for about the same price, but I don't know if she'll go through the whole thing in a week!

We're 11 weeks today. I THINK my first trimester ends next Friday, but different websites say end of 12 weeks or end of 13 weeks, so I don't really know. Anyone know the scientific answer to that?

Hi girls, hope everyone's doing well. Not a huge amount to report for me - the midwife came to see DH and I at home on Saturday and got all our background information and filled in a load of forms. She is a midwife at the local hospital but attached to my doctors' surgery and covers my area, so from here on in I will see her at the doctors' surgery. The system here is that you don't have a OB or consultant see you unless you're classed as high risk (which I'm not), so my pregnancy is going to be 90% managed by the midwife. I have an appointment to see her next Weds for her to take bloods and my blood pressure etc, when I will be just over 12 weeks. Otherwise, we are just waiting patiently for our nuchal scan on Friday. Getting excited but also really scared in case the baby's not on track. I keep consoling myself with the thought that this morning sickness is supposedly a good sign. And yes, the m/s is still kicking my butt and making me pretty miserable. I'm so praying that the worst of it will be over once I hit the 12 week mark next week.

myc - I'm so excited about your u/s!! Twins!!! Has the news sunk in yet? Did they tell you what they thought the bleeding was? Has it stopped now?

Gamergirl/CK - hi there! So happy to hear that your m/s isn't as bad as your first pregnancy, given how I've been feeling (and how useless I've been round the house and with the dogs etc, DH is having to do everything for me!) I was really worried about how you would manage to look after your little one if you got hit as badly again. Can't believe you're seen as high risk just because you're 35 - it makes us sounds as if we're ancient! But as you say, at least it will have the benefit of getting an u/s every four weeks. When is your next one? Re cloth v disposables, a good friend of mine from these boards has just had twins and has decided to use cloth, so I think I'll see how she gets on!

BRMommy2B - I know what you mean about struggling to eat. Like CK, my m/s is definitely reduced if I eat something at least every hour, but the problem is that I just don't feel I can get the food down sometimes! I was a 3 meals a day person before, with no real snacking, so my body just can't seem to get used to doing things differently. Re the end of the first trimester, from the things I've read it's technically the end of the 13th week, but most people commonly think of the first trimester as being 12 weeks. Still another couple of weeks to go for me, and slightly less for you!

We're thinking that if all looks good at the nuchal scan on Friday (when I will be 11weeks3days), we will start telling people our news. What have you guys decided to do about telling people - have you already done it or are you waiting until the end of the first trimester?

Hazel, my RE did not see any issue and told me not to worry about the bleeding.. I guess bleeding is very common so i am not worried about it too much. I hope your m/s will go away very soon. I was told usually it will end around 14 week.

I am 8 week today and so far I dont have a lot of m/s...I just get very tired after lunch and dinner everyday. And my belly is so BIG now! I mean BIG! Before the IVF, i used to wear size 2 pants, today i went to Old Navy picked up a few size 8 pants! I dont know how long i can hide my belly..... .I am planning to tell my mom and few of my good friends until the end of 12 weeks...

Hi ladies! We are just home from our nuchal scan - it all went well, I'm in total shock that in 4 weeks the baby/foetus can go from being a 'blob' to an identifiable baby shape. The doctor we saw said that at 11wks3day he would hope that the baby would measure between 44 and 48mm head to toe - in fact, the baby is measuring 51mm so he/she is going to be tall like DH and I. Just as long as the baby's not wide as well - ouch!! DH found it amusing on the way home to inform me for the first time that he was a pretty big baby at birth!! Thanks for that...lol. We won't get the results of the blood test and our final assessment for the Downs Syndrome risk until Monday night, but he didn't find any of the high risk signs on the scan, so we're hopeful. Seeing the baby looking like a baby has made all of this seem a bit more real. I think it will sink in even more once we've told everyone our news.

myc - I know what you mean about the belly, I definitely started having a bump around the 9 week mark and I've only got the one in there. Don't believe the books when they say we won't show until the second trimester!!

Just a quickie from me - we just got the call from the doctor who did my nuchal scan on Friday, and the blood test results have now come back. We are assessed as low risk for a Downs Syndrome baby at 1 in 8000, so it's great news. I breathed a huge sigh of relief, I don't think I even realised I'd been holding my breath for the results!

HI Everyone. Can I jump in? I am 6w4d with Twins from IVF. My due date for a singleton would be mid-OCt, but most likely I will be a late Sept mom. I started an Oct Mommies thread, but thought I would join in here too.
It's so cool to follow with everyone. I hope everyone is well.
I am starting to get on and off nausea, but nothing too bad. I am starving all the time though. I feel like I cannot get enough food, but I am trying to eat well so I don't gain a million lbs!

BRMommy2B - I see you're past the 12 week mark now, congratulations! Did you tell everyone your news? We told people over the weekend, it was nice to hear how excited our friends and family are for us! It definitely makes it seem more real...

myc - Are you still feeling that your stomach is getting big? I went out and bought something called a bandeau from a mother and baby shop today. It is basically a stretchy tube which fits around your stomach and has holes & buttons in it where you can button your jeans or trousers to - it means that you can carry on wearing your normal clothes even if they no longer do up, because you button them onto the bandeau instead. I thought it might carry me through until I'm big enough to think about proper maternity clothes.

Gamergirl/CK - how quickly did your m/s disappear when you were pregnant before (see below for why I'm asking!).

So...because naturally I just have to worry about SOMETHING, my m/s dramatically tailed off after 11wks4days and is barely there today, and my boobs have stopped being remotely tender. And that has me panicking that since we had the scan on Friday, something has gone wrong in there. The rational part of my brain tells me that I'm being silly, but because I expected the m/s to last beyond 12 weeks and then tail off more gradually, I can't help worrying. Unfortunately, short of getting another private scan done (which would be very expensive) there's not a lot I can do to ease my mind, so I just have to hope that everything is OK. I'm getting some aches and pains through my stomach (but then I've had those for a few weeks, I think it's just my uterus expanding and starting to move up) but no bleeding. Aaargh!
