Melmar - I have excellent news on the drinking front! The friend who was probably most likely to pressure me into having a drink with her texted me on Saturday night to tell me they are moving her wedding from March 2011 to October 2010 because she's pregnant. So voila - no pressure to drink - I'll not drink out of sympathy for her because I'm such a good friend! AND of course I cop the usual story from her "Oh, I went off the pill an month ago because we thought it would take a year or more to get pregnant and now I'm five weeks pregnant". Good for her! LOL - not that I begrudge her at all. Good luck on Wednesday!

AFM - I have my transfer date - wait for it....Friday the 13th of August. Oh, goody. Lucky I'm not actually superstitious! I think the waiting is going to kill me!

Anyone else got dates yet?

Kizmet - Friday 13th August sounds delightful! I might end up being the same day - if I get to day 3 transfer. Are you transfering day 3 or 5 embbyies? Yay you - the first horrid wait almost over - and then just that final push through 'the anals of hell 2ww'.

Me - all set for pick up tomorrow. This waiting game is horrid. Hopelessly handled at work too. Didn't tell my manager I needed time off until today - just didn't know what to say and didn't want him knowing it was IVF. So kind of lots of vaguries around womans things and timing and didn't know what time I needed in advance blah blah. Then end of day in front of my whole team he's yelling across the pod like "hey mel - good luck with that procedure then" and then the whole team start chipping in with "what procedure? Whats wrong? You having a boob job"blah blah. And on an on. ARGH.

Melo - Good luck! I hope all goes well with pick up. I understand the whole not telling people at work. I'm sure you can imagine how hard it was to come up with why I was in hospital for 6 days and had two weeks off work with the OHSS! I had to come up with a reason why they shouldn't even visit me in hospital since ob/gyn was up on the board above my head! I'm finding the wait at the moment excruciating! I can't even imagine how painful I'm going to be in the 2ww. I've already checked the board here 20 times today! Hopefully I'll be better in the 2ww because at least I can concentrate on "being pregnant" rather than just waiting to get pregnant! Bring on PUPO I say!

Good luck Melo with the pick up! And don't even worry about work...sometimes a woman has to do what a woman has to do:)

Kismet-I thought I would be Friday the 13th also...but wound up with the 11th. But to make you feel better about the date, I did a FET on Halloween and now have beautiful twins...so, who knows, maybe those days are lucky after all!!
I am glad that you won't be pulled into having a drink! It just makes it easier than having to explain everything. Now you can enjoy your trip, drink if you want, and spend some time with the family before you are carrying your second child and you are too tired to even think!!

AFM-started my progesterone shots last night and I forgot how much your butt hurts until you get used to them...but it is all worth it if it works:) Bring on the sore butt!!

melmar- Only 2 more days until you are PUPO!!! Good luck with the Progesterone shots. Even though I am not too excited about starting those back up I know they will be worth it in the end.

kizmet- I never believed in all those superstitions. My cousin was in fact born on Friday the 13th and always thinks of it as her lucky day! Its so exciting that all the transfer dates are starting to roll around. We will all be getting positives in no time. And as for checking the blog- I have the same issues. I always check on my blackberry so as soon as someones posts i get an automatic email and check right away. Its like an addiction I guess. Glad that now you dont have to fake your drinking. Its always easier when you arent the only one not drinking.

melo- Good luck with the retrieval!!! It stinks to wait but so exciting to know its one step closer to having a little one in your arms!

AFM- same old story. Will increase estrogen on Wednesday...

MY FET was supposed to be the 13th, but we ended up moving it to the 3rd. However, my beta comes in on the 13th. I'm not holding out too much hope as I'm holding a BFN in my hands now. :(

Jenny - Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Melo - Good luck with the retrieval - I'm sending you positive vibes for lots of merry little embryos!!! We are transfer 1 5 day blasto. As with Friday the 13th - I'm with you. Maybe it is lucky. My fav little dog (we have 4) was born on the 1/1/2000 and had her first and only puppy on Haloween 2002 - so I'm sticking with significant dates! Also, if this FET works, the bean will be due three days before my birthday and three days after my step daughter's birthday, so that has to count for something right?

AFM - Waiting is NOT getting any better at all. I've decided at work today, instead of constantly checking my facebook and this forum, I might actually do some work! So it's off to clean out and defrost all the freezers and label all the laboratory cupboards with the fancy new labeller. That should fill in some hours. DH is still enjoying all the perks of the excess hormones, shame that's probably going to slow down come Friday when I feel the need to protect my uterus! :D Is that TMI??? I have told DH he has to organise taking me out to a nice place for dinner Thursday night because it will be our last dinner alone (see, my positive metal attitude is going to get me through this!)

Does everyone want to PM me with their transfer/beta/retrieval dates and I'll put them together in a single post so we know where everyone is up to?

I'll put the dates in for everybody in this post and edit it as I get the details from everyone! I can then copy it and put it on each page once so we don't have to go looking for it.

Blairwh58 - Next appt 8/20, Transfer 8/24 :D

Kizmet - Transfer 8/13

Melo - Transfer 8/13 or 8/15 :)

Jersey Jane - Transfer?? 8/19

MelMar - Transfer 8/12 :P

Good Luck everyone! Hope you're all sprinkled with plenty of baby dust!

Kizmet - haha - yes in a few days time there are going to be three of you around - for the next 18 years!! Hmmm lots of lucky 3's going on too! Love how you've aready got birthdays worked out ;p . Talk about slo mo - I am feeling it with you too! Do you work in a pharmacy? I'm off work today and tomorrow. And in true disorganised fashion have not yet organised time off for Friday. Do I just take the whole week off? I feel bad taking 4 days of work.

AFM: Pick up today was all kei te pai - they got 10. I think thats okay ?? Am no longer obsessed about getting trillions of perfect embbys - as even when the have harvested 17 in the past - it was no no avail. So just praying for one or two little perfect golden embroynic babies in there! Still freaked about embryo quality and not resenting DH and his smoking! They discussed at length my prior history - where it seems the eggs do fine until day 3 - which they said is largely when the egg is driving what is happening and then post day 3 - which is when it all has to work together and the embryo including the sperm takes over - it does seem to go kaput. Oh. Oh. Eek. ARGH.

I'll be up on either Friday 13th for a day 3 or Sunday 15th (DH bday) for a day 5.

Arrrggghhhhh. Sacks of baby dust to us all. Please let this work for all of us!

melo- Sounds like you had a great retrieval!. Dont worry about what could or couldnt happen...for now just think you got 10 great eggs and as long as you end up with 1 or 2 good embryos you are good to go. As for the time off I usually take the day of the transfer off then work from home the following 3 days. If you cant work from home I would recommend at least taking the following day off just to rest and relax.

kizmet- Thanks again for starting a list. As for the birthday planning whats funny is I did the exact same thing. My estimated due date would be May 12, and since my birthday is May 8, nephews is May 7, and step dads is May 15...if figure it will probably land somewhere around all those. More than likely it will end up happening on my birthday since people rarely make it to exactly 40 wks. Either way I would be more than happy to share my birthday!

Good luck to everyone transfering soon! I am so excited for you all. Makes me more anxious to do my transfer though...hopefully 2 wks from today.

Hi All
Jersey Jane - glad the holiday is going well.

Jenny - how are you going? Have you POAS again - or managing to hold out for your beta on Friday? Its way early to freak about getting a negative right?

Kizmet - hows it going. Clocks stopped entirely yet - or still ticking at the rate of one second to every minute!

Blair/Melamr- hope all trucking on well for you.

AFM: Sorry if I'm getting all self obssesed as this thing takes over and my AFM posts get longer and longer :( I am totally gutted and trying not to get overwhelmed and freaked out. I got 10 eggs at retrival yesterday - which I thought was okay - but then this morning news it that only 6 of the 10 fertilized (+ 1 abnormal fertilization) and then of those 6 - only four of them actually cleaved equally - i.e. with the pronuclei splitting properly. Oh G*D. Please don't do this to me. I am already down to 40% . . . on day ONE! And we know how every day dwindles the good stuff.

Please - I would really like to know how you guys went in your fresh cycles? Has anyone had positive implantation with results like this? I feel like am already grasping at straws. I know it only takes one. But I so hoped this cycle was going to be better than the last few - and it seems worse! I just can't go through this again. And I can't stop here either. Help! Doing unthinkable and doing the "Ghost please pretty please help with some inane data that I know won't make any difference anyway" . . . what do you guys think?

Hi everyone :)

Melo-I know this hard but you have to stop thinking about it. I can only tell you from someone who has gone through three natural and 5 frozen transfers that I truly do not believe it is how many days the eggs go or anything. I had picture perfect eggs too many times and they didn't take...my last FET were fighters those little buggers. The doctor didn't think we had a chance with the "quality" we were transferring so I begged him to transfer 5...and three took. We had complications and lost one, but have beautiful boy/girl twins that we put to bed every night. This time around the eggs are not great quality, but I am holding out for another fighter! I think the most important part is getting your body ready and a positive outlook...again, I know you know that, but just keep thinking, "this is going to work!!"

Jenny-just wait for your bloodtest-you may have tested too early-and did you use First Response (it is the only one I would use). My line did not show up until the night before and I was carrying triplets with BETA numbers off the charts-so give it a day or two to test again.

Jane-glad you are enjoying North Carolina. Sounds like the weather is great.

Kizmet-thanks for the list. Now we can all keep on track with everyone.

AFM-transfer is set for 12:30 tomorrow and then on to the 2WW...I was so positive about this round leading all the way up until today , but now I am just a little nervous. I have been trying to lose all my baby weight this summer so I go back to work looking great in September...but I have gone miserably off my diet today. Little disappointed in myself...I guess I deserve a little treat now and again...right??

Melo - I can't really offer you any advice, since I'm a relative newby at this. From my first, disastrous IVF round, I had 19 follicles, 14 eggs collected, 12 fertilised, 6 make it to day 3 and 4 make it to day 5 and only 2 worth freezing. None transferred due to the OHSS. I was DEVASTATED when the nurse rang with the "good news" that 2 had made it to freezing. I totally lost it. I told the nurse that she may as well have told me that I'd never have a baby and what was the point? I cried til I threw up, didn't sleep the entire night (I was still in hospital) and felt so rotten the next day that I even accepted when I was offered Morphine at the hospital (makes me sick, but I pass out, so figured I might as well!). I know now that my reaction was completely unreasonable. Heck, I have two frozen potential babies! This time round with the much lower exposure to horrid hormones, my attitude is much more relaxed. If it doesn't work out, that's OK, I'll try again and I'll keep trying and if it never works out? I don't know what I'll do or feel, but I do know, I'll be OK. I'll be upset and I'll cry and I'll scream but I'll be OK. You know what I think about your cycle? I think you'll be OK too. Hugs honey, I know it's tough. And yep, those clocks have stopped completely - I can't even be sure they aren't going backwards! :P

Melmar - Good luck for tomorrow! Treat away I say! I promised myself I'd lose 5kgs before we even tried again. Nope that didn't happen! As soon as AF turned up, I was keen to go again. So now I've managed to gain 2kgs on these stupid hormones! That's no help at all!

AFM - Just being miserable because I want it to be Friday already. Looks like DH isn't going to be there for the transfer. Making him PAY dearly for that. It's dinner at an expensive restaurant and a movie in gold class for me Thursday night! He's not going to get away with getting me knocked up and not actually being there!
