Traci, my clinic have twice told me that downregging for an extra 7 days is perfectly OK if there are date clashes (like I had with Easter). You might not have to abandon the cycle this month. Worth a shot??

Claire, I'm glad you've been accepted and have something new to focus on, it helps.

Dizzie. This is how my clinic run things (approx):

Day 1 = AF starts
Day 21 = start meds/downregging
Day 31 = start stims/injections
Day 44 = EC
Day 46 = ET

there are scans, blood tests etc. in there too but that's roughly what I'm looking at. I can't see your age posted anywhere but your clinic might want to do Day 3 hormone tests to measure loads of things but FSH alone, if too high, means no go. There's also normally an initial bank of tests to take BEFORE any first tmt begins.

Good luck everyone,
Debra.

Debra - good thinking regarding the 7 days...I will need to check with clinic and verify all my dates again.

Weird stuff happening right now though...I should have started AF but have only spotted (very, very light spotting as well) the past 3 days...may be due to the acupuncture :? ..luckily appointment tomorrow....but I have never not had an AF so I am a little worried...if nothing happens by Friday afternoon will call my doc.

Have a great evening :D

Traci, did your temperature drop as expected? if yes, maybe this is it due to acu?

Hi Debra - Temp dropped like a brick yesterday...so I knew it wouldn't be that I was preggers (although always hoping deep down inside)...but AF is here today and not nice...from what I understand the spotting is due to the acu...will see what she says today...she will see me at my best...not happy with this cycle

Went to acu today..just in time...I woke up at 5am with cramps..drove to Munich..4hours with tons of vacation traffic ....basically we may have hit rock bottom and only things can go uphill..keep fingers crossed...she says my pulse is getting much stronger but she still feels cold running through my body . Also called the clinic ....due to my LH being under pressure last time they said I shouldn't risk trying to push out the stimming....so looks like I will postpone one more AF cycle...but still feeling really positive . DHs travel schedule in October is open as well....so there are too many things stacked up against starting this cycle...DH will be travelling during EC, sis and BIL coming to town, and acu doc wants blood a little warmer.

Sept Buddies

Post by Dizzie »

Hiya Debra P and Tracii,

Thanks for your replies and info you posted. I can't tell you how much this site means to me. Tracii, I will definatley get a hold of a copy of the book you recommended by Zita West and get reading and I will check with my clinic to see if they can help with the acu side of things too.
Debra, I'm 34 years young, nearly 35 and my better half is 30. I got my blood tests done last Friday on day 3 of my cycle and I'll be on day 21 the day we actually go to clinic, but as you say they all work differently so we'll see what they say on 23rd.
Can I ask all you girls something else too? The clinic we have chosen participates in research and have asked us if we'd consider consenting to three different research programmes which concern us and our treatment. I just wondered what other people thought of the idea. I don't think I have a problem with it but other half not sure. The way I see it, the more research that can be done can surely help out future IVF patients? I'd be interested in hearing other peoples opinions on this.

Take care everyone.

:P

Dizzie, I'd wait to find out more before you commit although I can't think any clinic would undertake research that might negatively affect your results (and their, all-important stats). As you say, without research things will never develop and become easier for us and the people who follow.

I'm a bit confused (easily done  ), is it coincidence that your apt. is Day 21 or do you think you'll be given the prescription for meds there and then + start that day? My clinic have never timed apts. like that so I wasn't too sure exactly what you meant. If your blood test was last Friday, did you get the result today? I can't wait until Tuesday to hear what my FSH was. I was too high in January but better in February, so it's vital this time. Sorry, if I've missed this elsewhere, which clinic/hosp are you being treated at? As Sept. will be super busy I might ask people to put their info under their signature so it's easier to remember all the details, what do you think?

Hoping everyone has a great weekend,
Debra.

Hi Debra P,

I've posted my details as you suggested although not much there yet. The hospital isn't compromising our treatment at all, they want to use eggs that aren't any use for fertilising for stem cell research. We can say yes or no, but not quite sure what way to go, that's why I was wondering if anyone else had been asked to do the same. Apparently there are only 5 clinics/hospitals here in the UK that do research with eggs (unsuitable ones), embie transfers (one instead of two for stats) etc. As for our appointment being on day 21 of my cycle, it's purely a coincidence. I guess I'll have to wait until the following month for our treatment to start.

Anyway, thanks for replying so quickly and I hope you have a nice weekend too.

Hi Dizzie, In regards to the research..we have never been asked. In my opinion it would depend on if you want to freeze any embryos...if they take all the eggs not used...then you may not have any for an FET. What do you get if they use the eggs (or embryos)?...(I think they only do stem cell research on embryos but I could be wrong.. :? ). What happens if you do not have any extra embryos? It also depends on what you believe in as well...some people don't believe in stem cell research (like our 'fearless :? leader in the US :? ).

Let us know how your appointment goes...and try to go with a written list of questions ...I find this helps b/c I always forget when I am there but if they are written down it helps.

have a great weekend!

CAN I JOIN YOU

Post by Karron »

Hi Everyone

Can I join you as one of the September Buddies. I am starting a Frozen IVF Cycle. unfortunately I had my first attempt at IVF and got a negative result on 20th July. I have 7 frozen embryos. I telephoned the Hospital yesterday as Aunt Flow arrived and have to wait 21 days before I start sniffing which means I start sniffing on 4th September. I have got my hospital appointment on 31 August where they will give me my treatment schedule. To be honest I haven't got a clue how long a frozen cycle is but from what I have read on the forum it seems like it is just as long as a fresh cycle - can anyone shed any light on this? I know they will give me all this information on 31st August but I am desperate to know.

Good luck to you all.
