Sam - Thanks and yes the shots are routine now. I am worried about the one shot that the nurse told me would hurt. I don't know the name of it, but she said it was an oil based injection and it will come later in the process. Is that the progesterone? Many happy thoughts and prayers for you Sam! :D

Wannababy - Congrats on AF! It's hard to believe how fast things start going once you start the injections.

Well everyone I'm on day 4 of injections and tomorrow morning I go in for the u/s to see how many follies so far. I am so nervous. Wish me luck!!!

Shapooh- Good luck on your u/s tomorrow. The oil based injection is progesterone. I am not looking forward to doing that part of the process! Have you become psycho from the meds or do you feel pretty sane? I am concerned about meds turning me into Evilena! Let us know how it goes tomorrow! You are on your way!!!

Not so bad

Post by samandaw1 »

I, too, was frightened about the progesterone shot as the nurse warned me. I did not think it was that bad. The needle is long but for some reason it did not hurt as much as the Menopur. Your butt does get sore though and someone gave me some tips that worked.

Of course, ice it a bit. Not too long as I actually gave myself freezer burn and that actually hurt. My DH had a warm wet cloth handy. Right after the shot he rubed it with that and that takes away the soreness. It tends to Knot so it is good to rub the knot out. I think it had less side effects than the others. In fact, I noticed that I feel normal for the first time since the process started.

Good luck with the U/S, wishing you lots of eggs!!!

:( Well I'm back from my appt. The RE said he saw 9 follies on the u/s. I was really hoping for more. I guess I should just be glad I had any at my age. My mom was pretty supportive, she keeps telling me "it only takes one". I go back on Tuesday for b/w and another u/s.

Is the progesterone injection to stop the ovulation? Tomorrow I take the Follistem and Antagon. Thanks for the support and wishes everyone!

Shapooh--Ditto what mom said!

Ladies--I had a bit of a scare this morning when I went in for bw and u/s. I created a separate posting for that and I am not computer savvy enough to move it over here. At any rate, I begin my injections tonight. Dr found a cyst on my right ovary, but I am still good to go because it isn't making any hormones--phew! The idea of waiting longer to start this really would have dampened my spirits!

How is everyone doing today?

Hi

Can I join in here. I have just started down regulating today for our first round of IVF, although we have done IUI twice before.

Hi!

Shapooh - I know it may may not seem like enough, but really it is. Your mom is right, all you need is 1 good one. It can work!

Wannababy - what a scare! I'm so glad you are still good to go.

I'm a little concerned because I have adhesions on my tubes and one ovary seems to be partially covered. I saw it in photos when I had a laparoscopy done last January. originally they thought I had cysts but it turned out to be adhesions. I tend to have twinges of cramping during ovulation. Not really bad, but it worries me because the nurse says our ovaries will grow to the size of lemons. I just don't know if it will be really painful or if my RE will see it as a problem later on. So far my doc does not see a problem. I'll just have to wait and see. :?

Wannababy --- that's great that you are still good to go. I cannot imagine to wait any longer either. That would be a bummer

Alicia --- I will be saying yupee if I have 9 follies. And having more follies does not really mean you are going to have more embies. Great!!!!

Angela --- Welcome!!! When are you going to start the stimulation? Mine is on Friday... or around that date.

I have my u/s and bloodtest on Tuesday.

Alicia---- progesteron has an effect on your lining of your uterus, making it receptive for embryo implantation. So that's why they give it to us around the time of the transfer. Am I right, Sam? I think that is the most painful shot, even though I think my doctor said I may be doing the vaginal suppositores twice a day until the end of the first trimester or when the second blood test is negative. Has anyone done those?

Looks like certain drugs and procedures are different with each clinic.
Good luck ladies, we are going to be another week closer! Alicia, when is your retrieval? I think you are next out of all of us here.

Wannababy - Glad your going to be okay. When is your next visit?

Angela - Welcome! You will love it here, everyone is so supportive and have great advice.

Mia - Hopefully everything will be okay. Your in my thoughts and prayers.

Lola - You are great! Thanks for explaining about the progesteron. I'm currently taking Follistem and Antagon, but I know the dreaded progesteron is coming soon. I also have an appt Tuesday for b/w and u/s. Good luck!!!

Sam - I just wanted you to know I have been thinking about you everyday. I can't wait for your good news!

I just want to thank everyone for all the support. Even if this doesn't work out for me, I want everyone to know how special you all are! My estimated ER is for this coming Saturday.

Champa-what's a baseline data?

Shapooh- Are you excited about your ER? When will you be able to test?

Lola- I will have to take vaginal supposities too. Mine are called prometrium. I don't know when I start them. When do you start?

Hopeful- Our ovaries will grow to be the size of lemons during this process? I dont want to know what that looks like! Keep us posted with what the doctor says.

I started my injections (follistim and lose dose HCG) last night. They really weren't that bad. They just stung alittle. Ice will be my best friend! I may have to do some of them myself this week because DH has to go somewhere during the time I am supposed to take them. I'm not sure how comfortable I will be doing them. I go back Wednesday for bw and u/s.

Hello ladies!

Alicia--- how exciting, I cannot believe yout ER is this Saturday! I will be thinking about you a lot!!!!! And if you have any questions and don't feel like bothering the clinic all the time, let me know, remember I can always ask my hubby. :D It is not his speciality, but he knows the basics...

Champa --- I think I am probably going for the same thing tomorrow, this is my second ultrasound. If you are at the end of your downregging, like me, and you are about to start the stimulation, they want to make sure that all your follicles are small and even (they should be all smaller than 10 mm (like one third of an inch). The bloodtest will determine your estradiol level and they want it low, like under 30 pg/ml or at least under 50. That means that the suppression is complete and the stimulation can be started.

Wannababy --- I had to laugh when you and Mia mentioned the lemons  That's a good way to desribe it. It's true!!! I was told by my nurse that I will gain at least 5-6 pounds right before the ER, because of some water retention and also becuase each follicle is like an inch in diameter. That's bigger than a cherry. So if we will have like 5 on each side or even more, we will look like we are 3 months pregnant already. I think Sam told me the same thing, the tummy will get bigger, she also said the boobs will get bigger too.... At least something to look forward to... See I always thought this stuff is microscopical. The egg is tiny, but the follicle holding the egg is huge.

Oh, my hubby is here, I have to go girls, dinner time... I will write later, I wanted to let you know that mean a lot to me these days!!!! It feels so good to know we are going through this together. Lots of luck to you all!!!
And please excuse my grammar or spelling, English is my second language, I am from Europe originally...

Yes the nurse said "the size of lemons" she also said we will look like nine months pregnant  . I hope it's more like 3 months preg. So it will be like we'll get instant baby bumps before the actual baby

I had a bloodtest and trial transfer today. It went well. RE just took a measurement of my uterus to see how far in to put the embryos. That only took about 10 seconds. Today I take my last BP. Bloodtest looked good so Saturday I will continue on to my Basline U/S and another bloodtest (FUN :P ).
