Rio - it is really crazy about guys and their hangups about donating sperm! I offered to donate eggs to a friend of mine with POV (2 problems though - all egg donation has to be anonymous here AND she got the fantastic news that her doctor is willing to try to use her own eggs!) - not weird at all. That baby would have been 100% hers - not mine. Oh well.... guess if we decide to try the donor sperm route, we'll be using anonymous donors....

jklaub - we missed! I'm sorry your polypectomy ruined your holiday - but congrats on starting stims!

Margi -aaaah, it's still so nice to see you back here! I have never really done yoga. My MIL wants me to try a meditation class with her, so maybe I'll do that. I also should really re-join a gym. I stopped with I got pregnant with my twins (Aug 09) and haven't really been back! Bad girl! I swim twice a week, but that's not really enough. Ideally, we would want to adopt a baby as close to the day that s/he is born, but that's quite a dream. Our order of preference is 1) getting pregnant with IVF/ICSI 2) getting pregnant with donor sperm 3) adopting a baby 4) adopting an older child and/or special needs kid..... we are still trying for our own with IVF/ICSI ---- but DAMNIT I *WILL* be a mother some day.

Southern California - don't you live in Carolina? You have to travel out to California? Do you at least get to make a mini-vacation out of it? Will you stim at home and send the results to them and then go out there for the ER/ET? How does that work?

Sorry about your dentist trip. I went last week because I had a cavity, turns out I have FOUR. I have a 1.5 hour appt for Thursday morning to take care of them. A lovely reminder of all the HG I had when pregnant. Apparently all that puking (8-10 times a day) ruined my teeth. UGH.

Carol - I totally understand you. People should NOT be asking us for advice on TTC. I always recommend TCOYF, but that's it. TWO people came to me for advice before they started trying in June.... BOTH are due in March (ie, pregnant the first month).... I was supposed to be due in April, but miscarried. WTF? ugh. ---- funny comment about younger men willing to put their sperm anywhere but when you ask for it, you get 'no'!.... DH keeps suggesting that I just have an affair to get pregnant (much cheaper and easier than IUI with donor sperm).... I laugh it off, but I think he is serious... hmmm....

Penny/Darlene - more progesterone doesn't hurt. When in doubt, take more!

sunshine 12 - I hope that whole package of HPTs was faulty..... but if not - I always do antagonist cycles and they work great for me. What kind of cycle was this? a long Lupron one?

nwquiz - I *hate* when people say "oh, married 5 years and no kids yet?". UGH. I find that mentioning vaguely that we are having trouble keeps everyone off my back.... btw - I have friends who are almost 30 and have no kids. I mentioned that saying we are having trouble makes people stop asking - so that what she did! She told her mom and in-laws that they are having issues. Then, when they decide to try, it'll be a miracle! brilliant idea, no?

Lou - I go into work the day after the ER. The first one, I scheduled a whole week off, but I felt fine. For the second, I went back the next day. I know it's disappointing, but try to remember that it only takes one.... I hope you are getting through the weekend alright. Monday is day 3?

krcaja - spotting can be anything - implantation, irritation in the uterus, bad news - you just have to wait, as hard as that is! I hope it's good spotting!

Sherry - Menopur does not need refrigeration - and make sure to bring that Follistim to room temperature before you take it! I was told to refrigerate mine, and only later did I learn that it only needs to be refrigerated for storage. For the week or so you use it, you don't need to keep it refrigerated (although, don't leave it somewhere too warm!).... Sunday night is almost here! yay!

Tiger - not weird at all - it's hard to be asked to be a donor and then be disqualified (my cousin needed bone marrow - I volunteered but wasn't a match, it was sad) I agree that it's 'just genes'. We are seriously trying to adopt as well - so I'm a big believe in 'nature' vs 'nuture'. My own mother is adopted, but she is so much like my grandparents it's amazing! ----- I love your story about packing the pee sticks! We are all a little crazy! I'm planning my own POAS and I haven't even started stimming yet!

Lauren 1711 - Men are so weird! Geez. You aren't asking him to have sex with his sister! sheesh! I hope your follies are catching up! I totally understand the time when you realize you are so covered in bruises you can't find a clean spot to stick!

Hope - yay for hidden follies catching up! ER is only a few more days away! When do you go for S&S again?

Kimber - My psychiatrist actually is a specialist in anti-depressants and pregnancy - we have both decided that it's more important for me to be on my drugs than stop because I'm TTC/pregnant. oh well! As for a sperm donor that looks like DH.... can't I upgrade?

luv2bamom (Subha) - WELCOME! I'm sorry to hear of your failed cycle, but congrats on your FET! How many frosties do you have? Why are you doing IVF?

Tammy - I've been seeing your posts on facebook - sorry you were all sick! We had the flu over here. It sucks to be sick! Your protocol sounds different. I hope it works! 10 antral follicles is great!

deftnosmo - how did your hysteroscopy go?

I too watch HIMYM. It drives me NUTS that they are having "problems" after four months, and all her tests show she's fine in one fell swoop. When will someone get it right? How much you want to bet they will end up getting pregnant now that they "weren't trying" because of his dad's death?

Sunshine...Praying hard for you! Keep us posted! I loved the microdose lupron flare protocol that gave me Zach, but I need something different now. I never take bcp's with it either.

Carol...I've been on the microdose lupron flare protocol for the last 4 attempts with menopur in the last 3. I told the doc I wanted a completely different protocol this time and told him that some of my friends did femara and something about 14 mm...and he said he prefers clomid to femara...but no problem we will try it. Well, my protocol I found out later is quite different than I expected and is not quite the same as some of the girls on here after all. I stimmed way to fast with menopur (6-9 days)...so that's why we're lowering the dose of follistim. If my doc wasnt a leading pioneer in IVF and also the VP of International IVF and head of everything...I would seriously be questioning him. lol I am scared, though.

Caro-am also a slow responder. and i do not respond much to femara or tamoxifen. but on low dose fsh i respond very well. my doc wants to add menopur this coming cycle for better quality eggs. not sure if that is going tohelp. all i know its more cash out of my hand hoping to get that baby home soon.

Tammy-am not sure if i cycled with youy back on 08 its been long. anyway once my doc tried the tamixifen fsh mix (consequal cycle i think they called it) but my eggs were all imature. so i just do low dosh fsh the whole cyle. oh well i hear its supposed to recruit more follicles from the start than just the fsh. good luck. your turn is comng to.

Lou: I hope that that little embie works to be your bundle of joy. ((HUGS)) through this difficult time....we are all here with you praying and hoping for a wonderful outcome.

Tammy: Glad that you and the fam is finally on the mend. Yes, we are going to try to make a little mini-vacation of it. We'll know more on Wednesday after our consultation, but my understanding is that we will start here with an RE of the clinic's choosing (not sure about how that works). We'll send labs out their way and start stimming here for a few days. Then go out for the end of the monitoring and for ER/ET. Very exciting!! I may go out a few days before DH. Should be in California about 8-10 days I think.

Leora: Yes, we are in "the Carolinas" as people say, but DH and I really want this to work and the clinics near us just don't have the stats. We are ready for this to work!! The clinic that we are using, the RE is very nice, and smart, but their numbers and stats, especially for over 40s is horrible. There are issues with the other 2 clinics in town, so we would have to travel somewhere...we decided to start with the best places we could find in the country that take our insurance...this will still be a lot cheaper than going abroad. Hoping it takes the first go-round, but if it doesn't we can afford to go back, so we are really hopeful. And yes, someway, one of those ways--or multiple ways--you will be a mom. And a terrific one at that. I can't wait for your cycle to start.

Rio...My Brother and SIL just found out "we're" having a boy! HB was in the 160's like Zach's was...I told them so! lol Sooo excited now....cause if we dont have a sibling for Zach, we'll still have someone close to grow up with him. I'm slowly getting over my jealousy.

Ok tonight will be night 15 of stims. I have been using cetrotide since night 6. My E2today was 2787 and they seemed happy with that. I have one follicle 14mm and lots of smaller ones. This is just strange to me. If it's normal to just keep taking cetrotide (or ganorelix) to prevent ovulation and do the long slow stimming as my RE called it, then how come alot of women have to trigger when they only have a few follicles? Is it because their largest is ready, and my largest is only 14 right now? I hope it works this time, but I am mentally prepared to come up with 3 grand to do a FET with what I have left if this does not work. I go back Monday for another S&S. No way I will trigger. I anticipate my ER will be 1/27 at the earliest, but I think probably the 29th or 30th is more realistic. I have enough meds to last til the 28th and I really do not want to refill again. If I had to pay full price for all the meds I got for this cycle alone, it would have been appx 16,000!!! That is just nuts! Gonal F, Menopur, Cetrotide, Crinone, Estradial, Ovidral, and patches!

Yes, Lauren...others trigger because their lead follicle is ready. It is good that they are all small together and still growing. Your E2 is fabulous! Can they have you take more menopur to get them going? Menopur for a lot of girls speed things up anyhow. Hang in there. Your follies just want to be closer in age to mine.

I just added up what my meds for this cycle actually cost and I was not too far off. Total cost was $15,643.25. My copays totalled $310.00 of that and I was complaining? The Gonal F alone was $10,572.11 for what I needed. I just showed my DH the list and you know what he said??? "Lets sell the Gonal!!!" lol!

I am sure you are nervous about changing things around so much, but your RE seems fabulous so put your trust in him that he will get you your little baby! We made a deal to be bump buddies so this one WILL work and you are coming to the other side! I will be stalking you! Great AFC!

Lou - praying really hard for your embryo, I know it is hard to stay sane in this but it CAN and WILL work! Calm yourself in any way you can to be prepared for this baby, your uterus is nice and cozy after the D&C!!!!

Do you realize that 3 yrs ago today I was growing my follies and 3 yrs ago tomorrow I was taking my trigger for retrieval that resulted in Zachary? Wow! Looks like this cycle will be exactly 1 week off...so hoping this is a good sign of good things to come.

Rio yes i was there as a newby. i remember cornybaby and the rest.kbar and aunt pebbles. lol cant recall all the names now. oh well yes this has got old for me. i really need to stop and face reality of the matter. you know what sucks the most is my sil just had a failed 6th ivf cycle but sheis 42. so i think it might be genetics on dh side. so sp is in the talks now.
Lauren1171- how about lets switch places. so i show you how it feels being all oop. for your copay only all i get is cetrotide 4 shots instead of ganirelix which is more costly minus all the rest. oh well count your blessings for insurance.
let those follicles grow. sometimes slow but sure they will mature. everyone responds differently to meds. i usually trigger when my lead follicle is aroung 18mm. so good luck and let those follies grow.
