Hi Jane,

Don't be sorry! It's ok, I've been in the exact same spot as you are and know exactly how you feel. I went through the grieving process as well. It was a very difficult time. I came here earlier this year and ended up leaving because I was just to stressed. Even with the support here, nothing could make me feel better. Maybe I didn't want to feel better, i'm not sure, but don't you give up. Last year my fsh was 80 and I didn't think I'd ever get to where I am today. I am on my first ivf cycle this month and my fsh is at 15.5. I know that seems high and I guess i'm lucky to have the dr that I do because they would usually like to see it under 10 but they're giving me a chance. Realistically I probably have about a 5% chance but I think 5% is better than no percent and i'm willing to try knowing my odds. I can't not try. I go for a blood test tomorrow so I'll know better where i'm at. Don't give up no matter what you do. Is there a possibility that you can get your dr to give you a chance even with the higher fsh? I'm told they have had ladies get pregnant at our clinic with an fsh of 18. If not, I think the biggest key to getting your fsh down is through some good vitamins and alot of relaxation. I actually gave up and came to terms with things in my head and that's when my fsh went down. Strange hey? My dh and myself started making other life plans and that's when it happened. Strange how it works.

Hope something changes for you really soon Jane. Take care of yourself Jane.

Hello Everyone,
I'm a couple days behind on reading posts. I just arrived at my grandmother's (she's 90) for a 10 day holiday. I don't have a laptop here so I'm using the public library computer. I will post later to find out how everyone is and to update you on my Embie adoption. I believe the transfer date the first week in Oct. but I will look at my info again(don't have it with me). Love to All

Jane,

You don't need to explain your reasons for being away for a while. They are totally understood and my heart goes out to you and how you are feeling right now. But there's still hope, another FSH test in September. Have you read the Zita West Book? I have it here at home - but do you think I can find it. I'm rummaging and climbing over DH's guitars and amps in the spare room, tutting and getting more aggravated at the mess in there (why are men so happy in mess?), but I will find this book. There is an excellent section on helping to reduce FSH levels. I will find it this evening and post again later tonight. Every little helps and everything is worth a try right now, isn't it? In my thoughts. Hugs x

Hi Paula, well done with those injections. Not so bed eh? :? Keep it up. :) By the way, my sister has lived in Alberta Canada for 30 years. If you don't mind me asking, what part are you from?

Hi Jane, I'm back - here are just a few tips that Zita West recommends may bring down FSH levels (apologies if you already have this book):-

Acupuncture may be of benefit (specific points that a therapist who specialises in infertility would know about)

Following a detox programme (the obvoius one is drinking a min. of 2 litres of still water, preferably filtered and avoiding coffee, tea and sugary, carbonated drinks. She suggests hot water and lemon instead.

Take gentle exercise, spend time relaxing (deep breathing or meditating)

Take B-complex and and Zinc supplements.

Keep lower abdomen warm. She also recommends taking essential fatty acid supplement including beans, pulses, onions and garlic in your diet to help liver break down oestrogen, and cabbage to increase tge rate at which the liver converts oestrogen into its water-soluable form so that it can be excreted. (enough information!!)

Hope this may be of help to you leading up to your test in September.

Hi girls, It's all the veggies that are in the pea family....like peas, beans, etc. etc

Hi Sharon, thanks :) I lived in Edmonton Alberta for a year before I moved to Australia, then before that I was mainly on Vancouver Island, born in Victoria BC. Beautiful place! Alberta is freezing  I'm used to Aus now and have climatized. I went back to Canada a month ago for a month, was a nice visit. The year before I went back in February and almost died because I was so cold after being in Australia and it was summer.

Paula and Sharon,

Thank you so much for your replies I have probably been stressing about the whole thing that has made things worse.

Also maybe the acu has made things alittle haywire to start with, trying to get my body in balance.

I've also started on a healthy eating regime in July cut down on the meat and wheat whewre possible and eat lots of veggies things loads of beans and lentils oh and fish. I'd also cut right down on the alcohol until this week better start again and was taking gentle exercise (dog walking and cleaning) have to get back to the gym this weekend and star swimming again. It's probable the relaxation i need I'm a little obsessed with all this and now even more books to read. I've also been taking lots of vitamins.

Paula I'm sorry about your news was this a blood test after starting the stims or were you downregging?

Thanks again,

Love,

Jane

Hi there everyone,
Jane just wanted to lend my support to you as well. I agree with the other ladies...don't give up, and we all certainly understand you taking a break. Nice tips from the Zita West book ladies. I ordered it last wek.
PS I love your name...I thought about naming a girl if I have one
Katie Jane

Hope everyone is well.

Jane, taking time out to grieve and adjust is essential, never apologise for doing something that makes it easier to carry on.

Paula, sorry to read that your results were't what you needed to see. What were they measuring that needed to be over 400? Good luck with your scan tomorrow.

Sharon, what's happenening with the downregging?

Everyone else? what's the story?? Katie, how's the visit?

Lynne - isn't it time we saw you back from you endless Italian summer?

I've my scan tomorrow (Paula, we can send positive vibes) to check if all OK before starting downregging on Sunday.

Feeling sorry for myself. A v. angry 2 year old hit me full-on in the eye ealier this evening, it's now a bit too sore to even read the pc and I've lots of work waiting...grrr...

Hope everyone is well,
Debra.

Good evening ladies,

Do you know, whatever the outcome of treatment this time, I am really going to miss this board - I really look forward to reading your posts and sending occasionally - and I think it's so nice that with a new round of treatment and people, that slowly everyone gets to know who's doing what and where they are with their treatment plans/cycles. Thank you all - your company is invaluable.

Paula, believe it or not my sister has lived in and out of Edmonton since 1975 and has lived in Sherwood Park and currently St Albert. What a coincidence. Yes, I agree Canada can be pretty mean in the winter with freezing eye lashes and nose hair (and everything else come to think of it!)

Jane, sounds like you are on the case with diet, exercise etc already. We'll all be wishing you get an encouraging FSH result in September - lets keep those positive thoughts running.

Debra, fancy being beaten up by a two year old!! What is the world coming to. Hope you're not in too much pain this evening. I am remembering to take the top off the spray, you'll be pleased to know (what an idiot!) and the hot flushes haven't started yet but there's plenty of time! lol

Katie, exciting times with donor ET and around the same time as a few more of us ladies. :)

Debra,

Forgot to say good luck with scan tomorrow - what does this scan tell them? I just had a period and counted from day 1 to 21 and then started down regging on day 21. Would be interested to know.

Sharon, they check the thickness of the uterine lining is as it should be at this stage - just to double-check it's a regular month with regular timing etc.

I'll let you know when I'm back tomorrow.
hugs
Debra (still in pain  she has a mean right hook it would seem)

Hi everyone!

Have been extremely busy with new job but try to pop in regularly to follow everyone's progress.
Jane,
Don't give up. My DH and I were on our 4th and final IVF this cycle with only a 10-15% expected success. I'm ecstatic to announce we had our 6 week 1 day US and we have a beautiful fetal pole measuring 6 wks 3 days size and a strong heartbeat. Of course we've been here before only to lose that heartbeat later but I am feeling positive. I thought about not posting here anymore because it might make those of you still trying feel bad. But then I remembered that in the time I felt the worst I turned to this board not just for understanding of others in the same position but to read about those who had success. I needed to see that it does work and I loved reading about other "older gals" having success. I hope I inspire you in that way and i'm thinking of you withing the deepest understanding and empathy.
Paula,
Wishing that everything goes perfectly for you and will be reading your progress everyday.
Katie,
I am so excited for you! I am so hoping that if all goes well for us in this pregnancy that in 9 months we can donate our frozen embies to someone like you. (of course i'm not sure who would want my 40 yo embies)
Debra,
How did your scan go? Do you have a big black eye now?
I'll be trying to keep reading everyday and follow everyone's progress. If I missed anyone personally I apologize but I am thinking babies babies babies for everyone!
