OMG Kim - teething already - I can wait for that experience! I only remember too well about teething - some babies really suffer with teething. Harry is dribbling a bit as well and I thought of teething but also thought it a little early. I do know that some babies do teeth as early as 8 weeks - yikes!

Harry laughed today for the first time. He smiles a lot and I thought he would giggle soon and he did today! Gosh they are growing up so fast!

How are you going Em ? Have you settled in home yet Kholtan?

Hi everybody!

Can some one please please put me out of my misery and tell me whats happening with Kimberly. She has had her babies? Does any one know any more been checking in every day just to see.......

Hi Hayley you must be sooooooo happy and excited. It takes a while to get your head round but once you have you can't imagine any other way than two at a time.

If you are in England I reccommend you join TAMBA and shop arround for some twin anti natal - I have and it is great!

We are doing well - my belly looks like a balloon!

Trying to get everything ready - got to get all my bits for my hospital bag tomorrow. Is there anything you guys found invaluable or wished you had with you?

quita--You're getting close, huh? You've got to be chomping at the bit!

Honestly, as for my hospital bag, I didn't end up using as much as I thought I would. I used my basic toiletries, maxi pads, and nursing pads (just a few)...oh, and my robe was nice to have to. I had packed some nice comfy pj's, but I ended up wearing the dreaded hospital gown most of the time, because I was so sore from my section...I just didn't have the energy to get dressed. Make sure you bring a charger for your cell phone...I definitely needed that! Plus, I did bring my own pillow from home. Just don't bring it in a white pillowcase...or else the cleaning staff might think that it's the hospitals.
Good luck!

Kimberly--Can't wait to hear an update from you...I'm sure you're very busy right now! Good luck!

Hi again all!

Quita yeah I'm really excited and pleased that all is OK so far (I'm only 7.5 weeks gone so still early days). I had an ectopic last year from natural conception and I was really paranoid about tubal pregnancy again so it's a huge relief to know the embies hit the right spot!

To everyone else, particularly UK girls - do they always do a C section for twins? I went to my GP for the first time since been dismissed from the IVF clinic and she mater-of-factly said "oh twins, so it'll be a C section" and nothing else said on the matter. I've already read that the majority of twin births end in c section but I was hoping to try and give birth naturally if possible. I don't like the sound of having to do one naturally and one by C section - all that pain and still having to open the sunroof! And then having to heal in both places!!!! Ouch.

Re how many cots/cribs? A few people I've spoken to with twins have said put them in seperate cots from the outset as splitting them later on down the line can be more difficult as they are used to sleeping together. What do folks on here think? Any experiences?

Hayley--I was just like you about the csection....I wanted to go vaginally...some docs are more conservative than others. However, I ended up not having a choice once baby B (Braeden) turned breech. I know there are many women who have twins vaginally. Although I think the docs have to be really careful about the cords getting twisted, etc. As for cribs, we actually have two, but my babies are still sleeping in one crib together. Although, they're swaddled so much, they don't cuddle or anything. I hear from friends that around 5-6 months, you end up having to separate them because they are rolling around so much more. Who knows...only time will tell!

Hi there

Quita - your time seems to be going so fast - your babies will be here before you know it :D

robinsonpr - co sleeping - At first I had the babies sleeping together. At about 8 weeks or so I just found them to be waking each other up all day long so put Bronte into her cot. They sleep in seperate cots but in the same room of a night time without any hassle. However, of a day time I sleep them in seperate rooms as again they wake each other up - their sleep times can vary greatly with one twin needing more sleep than the other. Don't know why it works of a night and not of a daytime. I have heard that some twins co sleep very well - just not my 2.

Hope everyone else is well.

Cheers Di

Kim,

Pillows and charger - got it! Thanks. Ohhh it all very exciting. By the ways saw your photos on photobucket and can I just say what an attracive family you looked!

Hayley,

Thats so fab - enjoy the ride. Can't believe you are thinking about birth sooooo early!
My advice is 1. Join TAMBA and ask them about tin anti natal classes in your area. I go to one privately its only £100 for four classes - one after all the baies are born and its been the best thing I'v done so far. Made some great new friends and we now go swimming and do yoga together.

And as my mum lovingly put it " Who else is going to put up with you when you've got two screaming twins!!!" English humour!

My anti natal classes are all about what is different about having two ore more babies - how to feed them sleep them change them give birth to them. What prams to buy etc.

60% of twins result in a c section in this country but you have to be prepared to go with what your twins demand.

If the lower baby stays breech (as mine is at the mo) you will have a c section but if baby one or baby one and two are head down it's likely your'll get to have a natural delievery.

My hospital has been very supportive of my wishes so far.

Apparantly women only end up having a natural then a c in 5% of cases in this country so it not worth thinkiing about if it happpened it would be because they have to get baby 2 out in a hurry and in that situation i'm sure we won't care about ourselves.

:D  :D  Thirty One Weeks Today!!! :D  :D

It is soooooooooooo nice being part of all things twinny. Its exciting and terifying at the same time - but being pregnant and being pregnant with twins I never feel alone the way I did during all those years of infertility.

TAMBA are great over here and have a twin line you can call any time - even when they are fully grown up. They also have a great book and vidoes on carrying and delivering and raising multipiles. The stuff on idendity is fasinating.

I also have just found out that we have a local twin club which I am going to look into.

------------------------------------------------------------------

On the paranoid side, I had a really bad nights sleep last night as I started getting period like pains in the middle of the night for about an hour.

My womb wasn't going hard with them so I don't thnk they were BH's.

Do any of you remeber suffering fron these kinda pains at this stage?

I have grown an unbelievable 3lb's this week at it is all on my tummy - so I think its just growning/stetching pains. My skin feels like someone has just given me a chinese burn at times.

Reasurance please.

Feel so close yet so far away from my target of 37 weeks. Think the twins should be about 3.3lb today. Can't wait to get to 4lb!

Hi Ladies,

Just thought I would do quick update on my twins and myself.
When I had my 28 week scan the consultant noted that my blood platelets had dropped a bit. Apparently this can happen in pregnancy and is not always dangerous or linked to something more sinister like pre-eclampsia or Hellp Syndrome.

Anyway begining of last week they noticed that my platelets were significantly dropping at a frightening speed. By Thursday morning my count was 16 which is classed as severly life threathening. Normal levels are between 150-450. So I was tested for all sorts including the likes of leukaemia. Thankfully they all came back negative. It appears my little babies are literally bleeding me dry at the moment. So I stayed in hospital and had 2 x 13hr immuglobin transfusions, bone marrow extractions and now I'm on max dose of steroids until Thursday morning when my little treasures will be taken out by c-section at 38 weeks and 1 day. Although this has been a terrifying week, it is thankfully coming to an end and I will see my little boys very soon.

One thing I have to say is that the UK NHS system gets some bashing over here but they have been so wonderful with me. I received the best care from the best consultants and midwives. My drips alone cost them £10,000 for which I had to pay nothing other than past nhs contributions.
They have made this difficult journey that much more bearable for me.

I hope everyone else is well and look forward to catching up soon.

My two are now over 3 1/2 months old - yay! Things are so much better than even one month ago. They just seem so much more settled. We took them out to a get together the other night and we were amazed they behaved so well. Touch wood things continue to get better and better as time goes on.

Lisa--I'm glad your tests came back okay! good for you to get this far! Get some rest, if possible, before Thursday! I pray everything goes smoothly for you...as i'm sure it will. We can't wait to see pics of your boys.

Quita--Your so far along! Yeah! Sorry you had some pains last night. I can't say I experienced those. I honestly barely had any contractions during my pregnancy until I developed pre-eclampsia the day before I delivered. (36 weeks and 6 days.) If you have concerns, check with your midwife...better safe than sorry!

One of my good friends here in OHio is 34 weeks with twins and has been in the hospital for the past week with contractions. I have a feeling she'll be delivering very very soon...

Di, I know what you mean! Things seem to be getting so much smoother these days! I refuse to say "easier" because I feel like I'll curse us! But, this is a good age, isn't it?

TAke care gals! I'm off to bed!
