Wannababy-

The heartrate is double of your yours when relaxed ( I can't think of the word but when you are not active) They really say that the heartbeat does not indicate the sex.

I, howver knew I was having a girl from the begining. I heard you are more sick with girls and that they 'suck the beauty" from you. I had so many symptoms that I knew my hormone level was high, which I translated into girl. It is ahrd to tell with us IVF'ers as we are on so many medications it is difficutl to distinct. i also read that you are more likely to have a girl through IVF but just as equal to have a gilr/boy if you did ICSI.

I am starting to feel better but still have difficulty breathing. My baby is kicking me all the time so I am reminded she is okay even though I am sick. I have been in bed for 14 days now and just want to be better. My doctor said not until after the new year, will I be back to normal. Yikes!!!

I see my obgyn on Thursday so she can make sure nothing happened to the baby through this whole ordeal. I am nervous but staying positive. My Dh and I are decorating the baby room over the holidays. Wow, it becomes even more real then.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that we had the 20 week scan yesterday and everything appears to be going well. (Thank you God and thank you everyone who kept me and the babies in your thoughts and prayers).

Both babies look wonderful, they are about the same size and are growing pretty much on target to expectation. Heartbeats were about 148. One was scratching its face and putting hand in mouth a lot. The other kept flipping from one side to another. One is sitting very high almost near my stomach (this explains the feeling of having swallowed a basket ball and the breathelessness I guess.) The other is sitting much lower under the belly button towards the left pelvis. I'm so pleased that they are both good sized as I've only put on 3Kgs and we have reached 21 weeks (today). So I think its true the babies get nourishment from the mother's stores not so much from how much she eats (pls don't beat me up for that, it was what the midwife told me).

WE HAD ONE MASSIVE SURPRISE THOUGH! I posted that we we were told the expected sex of the babies at 13.5 weeks. Alas with a disclaimer that this should be confirmed at the 20 week scan. So yesterday, they checked again and one of the babies is NOT what they had originally told us. I'm chuffed as anything that they are both healthy but I must admit I went into shocked and confusion...don't get me wrong, I am pleased and delighted, I am just shocked as I thought something different for the last 2 MONTHS  So glad we haven't told anyone or we'll look like right muppets :o

Anyway, thank you God for 2 healthy babies and this weekend I'll slap the confusion out of my head and start enjoying the good news :-)

PS Unlike Sam, I have no instinct about the sex of the babies, but I think deep down I know that they are healthy and doing fine....

Lots of love to you all
Rittie

Hello everybody!

Rittie --- congratulations on your scan, how wonderful! You must be so happy. It must be so beautiful to see them moving around. I cannot wait for that. I also cannot wait to know what you are having! My two babies have also heartbeats around 150. The third one probably vanished on Wednesday, I don't know for sure, I had no pain but had a brown discharge and they told me I may be spotting when it happens. I will see on my next scan on the 27th. I was scared at the beginning, but it was just a little bit and it went away pretty quicky.

Sam --- I cannot wait to start decorating the baby room, so far it is just a room with white walls and beige carpet. Good to hear that you are feeling much better now. My clinic actually says that there is more boys being born through IVF, so I don't know what the truth is. That's why we are thinking we may have 2 boys or a combo. We may be suprised then! We did ICSI though, so only God knows....

Wanababy --- I think the heartbeat should be steady the whole time. 122 is normal, as they say anything between 120 - 160 is normal. So don't worry about it. I reffer to the babies as he so far, like him - the person inside me, since person can be male or female. My nausea is probably little better, it comes and goes now, depends how much I eat. I have to force myself to eat but when I do it helps. It woke me up at 1:30 am last night and I had to go get something to eat. The babies - yes, one is beating faster, but I still think it is two boys, so does my mom. I don't know. My husband thinks it's a combo and so does my grandma, so they started betting on it. I should know in February, so I still have long way to go. I just hope everything goes well like it has been so far.....

Suzhan --- you may be having multiples!!! Whohew! I cannot wait to hear from you after your scan! I looked at my notes and mu 18dp3dt was only 2848, and I had 3 in there! You are probably in a multiple trouble girl!!!! This must be at least twins!

Have a nice weekend everybody! Love Lola

Hi everyone! Here I go again! Looks like I have started AF a week early. :o Must be the hormones making me screwy. So I guess I'll call my clinic and tell them I'm ready to go again. I'm guessing they will put me on BCP to control when I start FET, which I believe is to be the 1st or 2nd week of January. I'm glad I got AF early because that means I won't be all hormonal during Christmas. :)

Mia - I'm doing the Merry Christmas AF dance for you! Image It's awesome she arrived early so you can get started sooner! I'm praying January's your perfect month!

Rittie – congrat’s on the good news from the latest scan, but what a surprise, huh? Had you already decided on names? Like you said, the most important part is that they’re both strong and healthy, so enjoy!

Sam – Hope you continue to rest and feel better. Those little kicks now and then must be very reassuring!

Lola – I’m not sure what’s going on with those hcg’s and whether it’s multiples (see my note below.) I’m a bit confused myself and even called my RE again because I thought maybe they made a mistake, but nope, that’s the result. Hope you’re starting to feel a little better.

Wannababy – ditto what Lola’s said on the heartbeat. You’re in great shape. I can’t believe you get d/c’ed on the 27th! Have you picked an OB yet?

As for me, while I was really excited to hear my 3rd hcg was 11,000, I was also kinda worried about the level being too high (because there's a complication called a molar pregnancy that causes hcg levels to rise abnormally high and fast) but everyone seems to think it's more likely a very strong singleton or mulitples causing it to go up so fast. I talked to my RE's office and they want to stick with the plan of waiting until 12/27 to find out what's going on....so more endless waiting for us. Thank goodness for Christmas - helps the time pass!

Have a great weekend!

Hopeful--I'm glad that AF came early. Now you can get the ball rolling....

Rittie- wrong gender? Is it difficult to change your mindset now that you were thinking one gender and now it is the opposite?

Sam--what's the kicking feel like? I am so looking forward to experiencing that. What's the theme of the nursery? BTW- my resting heartbeat is pretty fast :?

Lola- Are you showing yet? Has your appetite picked up?

Suzhan-What about your appetite? I have been getting hungry a lot more often. I have my 1st ob/gyn appt on January 11! My doctor is great!

I really had to bite my tongue about my pregnancy today. First, one of our secretaries came to me all excited because she is going to be a grandma again. Her daughter is due July 23. I wanted to tell her that my baby would be a bit younger than her grandchild. Then, at the hair salon today, I learned that one of the stylists is pregnant and is also due the end of July. It's her 3rd so she looks pretty big considering. I wanted to announce my pregnancy but decided not to because I havent told my family yet. All who knows is one of my coworkers, acupuncturist and my manicurist. I only told her because I had a mask on at my last treatment and she thought I was sick. I'm telling my family on xmas. I can't wait! Have a great weekend!

I'm hungry every few hours, but I can only eat a little bit at a time or else I feel queazy. I've had to go to all kinds of work events for the holidays this week and everyone's eating the fancy food and drinking the fancy wines. They don't understand what's wrong with me 'cause I don't eat too much and am turning down the free drinks....

Seriously, though, I do feel like I need to eat more than normal, but I'm trying to keep it healthy because I'm afraid I'll be a ton of lard (hee hee.....) Luckily, I haven't gained anything yet.

Rittie - I don't understand how you're 20 weeks and only gained 3 kg....Is that about 3 pounds? (sorry I'm ignorant on the metric system.....)

thanks Suzhan and Wannababy,
The FET will be on Jan 25 or 26, so it's over a month from now. It's just my clinic's schedule. I'll be on BCP for awhile. but that's OK. I could use that time to detox and get a little bit of a fitness program going. I've gained too much weight! And with all the holiday goodies around, it going to be tough.

Wannababy, What a nice Christmas gift it will be for everyone. It must be so hard to keep quiet! I know we'll want to blurt it out as soon as it happens!

Hi girls,

Thank you for all your well wishes. I spoke to a few more people and basically no one has heard before that it is possible to tell the sex of the babies at 13.5 weeks. And the medic did say 'this one appears to be... and this other appears... and best check at 20 weeks.' So I guess its us being too enthusiastic and talked ourselves into believing its a 100%. I'm adjusting my head slowly. Its no big deal what they are really. But DH and I have decided we'll go for a private scan in Jan to confirm it. Let this be a lesson learned. I also heard this girl in Italy was told she was going to have a girl and had named her Louisa for the duration of the pregnancy. At birth, it was a boy and they promptly changed the name to Luca!!!!! Has anyone else heard of stories like this?

We had started thinking of names, started thinking of colour for the nursery. Etc Etc. Nothing major, so its perfectly fine its just we feel quite silly :-)

Suzhan, 3Kgs is about 7lbs. I'm overweight to start with (not obesed but in the overweight range) and the midwife did say to aim to gain less weight than normal weight girls. I wasn't controlling my weight gain but I guess since going for the IVF I've tried to eat a lot more healthily. Once pregnant, I've lost weight in the first three months I think due to the afternoon sickness (although mine was mild). And the last couple of months we had the growth spurt and I perpetually feel like I've swallowed a basketball and hence definitely can't eat a big meal. I'm just so pleased that the babies are measuring normal size as I was getting a bit suspicious as to why I'm not putting on more weight now that I have a bump to show for. But after the scan, I don't care anymore, they're ok and I'm ok. I do have a slimmer face and bottom and legs so I guess the fat there have migrated to the bump

Hope you are all well and holding up with the morning sickness. One more week to Christmas and I can't wait :D

Lots of love
Rittie

Hi ladies, it's good to hear that all the little beans are doing well.

Looks like I'm going to be on lupron for 20 days! :x I was looking forward to a month without needles! But no, not my luck. I've only had one lupron shot ever and it stung like a mofo. Luckily these are going to be much smaller doses. But Please, can anyone tell me, will they all sting? And what the heck does Lupron do that BCP can't??

ET is going to be on 01/25, yay! My frosties will be thawed on 01/21. :) Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I've got everything I could possibly cross, crossed. I'm praying extra hard this time, even got my St. Jude pendant on. I could use all the help in the world right now.

Hi ladies - sorry that I haven't been posting lately but I have been trying to keep up with everyone.

I am glad to hear that everyone is doing well.

Sam - seeing what you have been going through, you are going to have one very healthy baby girl! I am so sorry that you've had such a difficulty pregnancy so far but it will be so worth it in a few months. Hang in there!

Rittie - Good to hear that your little beanies are nice and healthy. That must have been a surprise when you were told one thing regarding the gender then to be told something else a few weeks later.

Wannababy - I know I am a little late with this but I believe that your little brownie's heartbeat is in the normal range. That must have been so exciting to hear. Hope the morning sickness isn't taking too much out of you.

Suzhan - Not that I am an expert or anything but your hcg levels seem indicative of mulitples. How exciting! I hope you are feeling well.

Lola - I am sorry to hear about the loss of your third beanie. I know it was expected that he/she wouldn't survive but it is still sad. I am glad that the other two are strong with healthy heartbeats.

Mia - Congratulations on your totsicles. I love that you call them that. I can't believe your AF has already arrived. Regarding the Lupron, I was on that during my first cycle. My RE started me on 10 units during the down regging phase and then I was on 5 units during the stim phase. The Lupron shots for me weren't bad at all. I did them in my thigh alternating each day. As for how it differs from BCP, I am not sure. Good luck with everything.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hi ladies--

I'm real nervous. Prior to getting our BFP, we decided to have the interior of the house painted and decided to go through with it. Well, they started yesterday in the basement and as expected the house reeks like paint. It was so bad that I spent the night at my brother's spot. Now that I am home, the house still smells like paint, but our bedroom doesn't smell too bad. While I am home (hanging out in the bedroom) I am wearing a mask because I am concerned what the paint fumes will do to the baby. They are coming back Monday and Tuesday and I will be staying at a hotel until Wednesday but sleeping at home tonight. Should I be worried about the baby? Help please! :?

Mia- When I first had my lupron I thought it hurt and I cried. After a couple of days, I thougth it was easy, esp compared to the others. I think the lupron should be fine as most people say it is easy. I did mine in my stomach and really the needle was quite small. Try icing it a bit and breath out in huffs/puffs like a football player while it is going in. It helps the mind wander from the needle. I will keep everything crossed for you as well.

Wannababy- We got our house painted and there should be no problem at all with the baby. I was told, the only harm to be done was if the smell made me nasauses. The paints now are safe due to regulations so your baby is safe.

As for me----I am feeling better. I still have to sleep sitting up but it is getting easier to breath. I am going to try going to work tomorrow (first time in two weeks) and then off on vacation after thursday to Jan. 6th. Should be plenty of time to heal. We decided to stay in Denver for the break and have a quiet christmas so I can fully recover. I have my doctor appointment on Thursday and hopefully they will tell me all is fine with the baby. I can feel her kick all the time and it is so fun. I can't wait for the rest of you to feel this, Mia you are on your way, I promise.
