I'm 12dpo today. My 2 recent past pregnancies have been low numbers and I've miscarried them both. My first I got a negative on my urine at 15dpo and my blood was 32 and it went well till I hit 689 and than it stopped and I miscarried. The second I did a First Response (which picks up lower than 15 sometimes but normally 15-25) that one I took at 13dpo and at 15 dpo I went in for my blood and it was only 44 and it never went above 88.

I'm starting to worry that we may need to do some chromosone testing or other testing. As after two chemicals and not getting pregnant with what looks like perfect embies with IVF. I just don't get it and it's getting me very frustrated. Even the girl at the desk was shocked we were coming in for our 3rd fresh as my doctors have such a high success rate but I've heard they tend to only take best cases and ditch the bad ones when when it's not working out to keep that rate high. So now I sit here and wonder at my next WTF appointment if they will tell me to go to donor egg or something. ARGH I've got to start getting my PMA back up.

carol - what meds are do you think you don't have enough of? Just and FYI, the gonal f and follistim usually have extra. 600u follistim has 100 extra u and the 900u has 150 extra units. maybe your office was counting that in.

I have the single use vials, so not sure. But I seem to think they are starting me off awfully high - 225iu for 6 days. Before I started at 75 then went to 150iu. Not sure if he is trying to get all 15 to grow or what! I have to go back in this afternoon with my meds so they can determine what and how many needles to give me, so I will talk to them then.

I do feel good about my AFC though - I looked at some charts and studies online and found that women my age (I'll be 45 in a few months....UGH) are usually less than 10 with 4-5 being the average. And since I haven't been on any medication, except clomid 2 months ago, its even better. Maybe the dhea and royal jelly are helping!

Hello -

Just checking in. Saw RE yesterday and 2 leading follies were 13, with others not far behind. Still looking good per the doc. Stupid question for my seasoned IVF friends - do you usually trigger the day before ER? Or a few days before? Wasn't sure how that worked.

Lou - glad to hear about the successful transfer of your *stellar* egg! Yay PUPO!

Carol - sounds like good numbers for you! Good stuff on that left side!

Kristin they will only do a 5 day transfer if they get enough quality embryos. I had one doctor say they only do that on patients 38 and over and the other doctor say they only do it if you have more than 8 good embryos. The problem is on my first cycle I had 13 eggs 8 fertilized. They put in 2 perfect embryos. Out of the 6 left only 4 made it to freeze.( you owuld have thought a 5 day transfer would have been done this first time) This past visit he had told me that my embryos didn't do so well on day 4 in the dish, but 4 out of 6 made it to freeze. I don't get why he would say they didn't do well if 4 had made it to freeze. I'm getting very very aggrivated with my RE's. Either there lab sucks or maybe they should be telling me to do some chromosone testing. I think I'm going to request chromosone and karyotyping to be done before I waste another cycle.

Man I'm b***** today. I need help with my PMA!!

Kimber it's looking good. 36 hours after you trigger you go in. I triggered at 10 pm on a Tuesday and went in Thursday morning at 9 and had my er at 10.

Kat- i think you should change your RE. I also doubt their lab as I remember you telling that they were pushing for a day 2 transfer this time. But I really hope you won't have to do it for another 1 year..sending lot of PMA..

Kimber- trigger is done 36 hours before ER.

I would defintely get a second opinion too!! I think the lab may not have the capabilities to do a day 5. I had 11 eggs only 5 fertilized and 2 made it and all 5 made it to day 5...they put back 2 in and froze 1. If they are pushing day 2 they sound like either they arent current on all the latest research or they just dont care! Either way you deserve top notch care!!!. But again...wait for your BETA before you nolonger consider yourself PUPO. Are you on progesterone or anything else?

Sweetpea - you could still have a positive beta and a pregnancy. For some women POAS doesn't work because you might not pee as much HCG and blood is way more accurate, I am keeping the PMA for your BFP. Your clinic does sound strange, my old clinic was weird until I found out how they only had few clients and fudged some stuff. It is all about state of the art lab, a great RE with a poor lab is nothing! Have you checked http://fertilitysuccessrates.com/

CJinNC - wow for awesome number of AFC! Mine were 8 or 10 at 39. So you should have lots of eggs to chose from! Which protocol will you be using?

Kimber - They usually trigger when follies are 18-20mm. 36 hours exaclty from trigger to ER!

I have to catch up on a couple of pages, but just wanted to say that I went for S&S today (AGAIN). I just spoke with the nurse practitioner and she said my RE will not do ER for one follicle. I don't want to anyway. We are converting to IUI. I had 3 measurable. 19.74, 12.14, and 12.77. Yesterday the 19.74 was 16.74 so it grew 3 overnight. I hope the 12s grow by Thursday. I am not really expecting it to work. We have done 3 IUI's already and had multiple follicles and nothing. But I did these shots for two weeks so I may as well give it a try. They say that they do not know if my ins will cover another IVF cycle. If this is a BFN they can send out for approval and see. Now I am worried about DH's sperm for Thursday. How many days prior to procedure are you supposed to have sex??? His sperm is normally great, but on my 3rd IUI we did not do anything for a while and his sperm sucked. I was not expecting to trigger tonight.

Also, my appt is at 10:40 on Thursday and she said to trigger tonight anytime between 5 and 10. Why do they not give me specific time? Should I just do it at 10:40 so it's exactly 36 hours?

Riogrl-Thanks for the site. I'll check it out. My clinic is actually supposively a really good clinic. I think I'm just a bad egg;)

Lauren-Glad you were able to at least switch it to an IUI cycle. Since they did that than I would think it's not using up your 5th IVF cycle? I know with our IUI's we had to have sex the night of trigger and than he wasn't to do anything again until game time at the clinic. Also he should not drink alcohol 76 hours before an IUI as it effects quality and quantity. Those are the only things I can remember of the top of my head. Oh I see your next post and my RE did the same and I always went right in the middle.

Sunshine12: So sorry for your BFN (((HUGS))) to you. But, seems great that you have such wonderful PMA and are quick to get back in the saddle so to speak. That was always my plan. This is your year for a baby!! Can’t wait to hear how your baseline appt goes tomorrow.

Penny/Darlene: Thanks for sharing the story about your pastor...it was touching. And hold onto the fact that you are PUPO and will hopefully be getting your BFP!!


Hope: Sorry about the insomnia--that is horrible. I suffered from it terribly after I had been really sick 2 years ago with OHSS. Have you tried any type of guided meditation? I have a CD with a “power sleep” meditation that really is awesome. You really need to sleep well. you do acupuncture? That is helping me relax overall. And regarding your cycle--you have great # of follies!! And yes, they keep growing after trigger, so I think you are in a fabulous spot!! Any word today on when to expect trigger?

Kat: Still hoping for BFP!!! Friday is still a ways away..and from what you say has been your experience, you seem to be one of the types of people that the HcG takes a bit longer to make it to your pee. But I agree, if this is a BFN...might want to look into another RE. But for now...keep up the PMA and..

Anton: Sorry about the issues with friends/acquaintances. Yes, it can be so hard when others “don’t get it”. Hang in there--we are all here for you. And Cyprus!? How awesome. Crazy as it sounds, I came very close to going to Greece for IVF. When we didn’t have any insurance we were looking abroad and Greece had a really low cost IVF program...

Lauren: This is so unfair! I am so sorry that you are having problems with this cycle. You have every right to be cranky under these circumstances. So are you triggering tonight? We were always told to BD night of trigger as well as after IUI. And please, please, check with insurance. I thought I was “out” and I was...but as of the 1st of the year things changed. Trust me, you won’t know until you ask. They aren’t going to go out of their way to let you know you can spend more of their money! But best of luck with the IUI--hopefully you won’t need another IVF cycle. And yes, I would do it at 11 tonight. Or 10:40. Let this work... and tonight:


Nwquiz: So you do yoga? I just started this past weekend. I was supposed to go tonight as well, but I have a horrible head cold/cough/upper respiratory thing so I feel miserable at the moment. That quote sounds really high for acupuncturist. The woman that I go and see is fabulous and charges $80. That isn’t “cheap” but is no where near $250...I think you should check around. Mine is one that specializes in fertility but isn’t associated with any clinic.

Jkulab/jeib: Definitely tell your RE every symptom. And drink your gatorade--as much as you can stand...and rest. I had a horrible case of it. I won’t scare you with the details, but please realize that it can get very bad. Weigh yourself and if you gain 2+lbs in a day get to the doctor.

Kynlee: Glad that you got insurance worked out. It is so annoyingly confusing! When it is good it is a god-sent. When it isn’t--so unfair!! I have been in both spots and am so lucky right now to be blessed with good insurance.

Carol: Excellent baseline...now grow follies grow!! Did you get everything straightened out with your doctor/nurse?

AFM: I am hit hard with a nasty head cold/upper respiratory thing. Totally stinks. And my head is in a fog so if I posted anything nutso please forgive me. lol. I sent off all my paperwork to the potential clinic. Phone consult with doc is tomorrow. Wish me luck!!
