Hi Everyone!

Post by melmar »

Hi girls! Sorry I haven't posted in so long. I have been keeping up with all of you however, I feel like a complete lunatic this time around and didn't have any news until now.

So after we found out we were having triplets, I have been to the emergency room for bleeding and have lost 15 pounds to date. I FINALLY saw the high risk on Tuesday and got the news that baby C was not developing properly-his intenstines were still on the outside, and the fold behind the neck was above the "normal" range. The doctor recommends that we do a reduction, which we have no problem with-however it is just sad. You could see the baby moving on the ultrasound and realize how precious life is.

We are going in on Monday to do a CVS on the other two babies to see if there are any genetic abnormalities there. I am a nervous wreck after hearing about Baby C and knowing that we have history of Down's in the family. I am wishing for the best and hoping that all comes out well. After finding the results of the CVS we schedule the reduction.

That is all I have right now. I am a total emotional basketcase and will feel much better after I get the test results back.

Happy New Year to all! All good things in the new year!

Oh,Melissa,I know how you feel.My situation resolved itself,I was scared that I'll have to do all these things too.At least you'll find out now if your other babies healthy.I''ll pray for you!Let us know right away.

Ronda,I don't know what to tell you.I guess it depends on embryo quality after thawing.Lyly transfered 4,and PG with one(this time),Mellisa-5 and PG with 3,mine- didn't survive(but in my case we almost positive it was a lab's mistake)-go figure
IVF#1-BFP,but lost our angel at 16 weeks
IVF#2-BFN
IVF#3-BFP,started w/tiplets,lost one at 7 weeks,lost a second at 15 weeks
Praying for a miracle baby to stay with us!
It's a girl!

Ronda- On the FET I can't tell you about cost or meds since my ins covered it. However, depending on how many embies you have left, how they are stored (groups of 2 or 3 or single), and how many you want to trasfer is how they will thaw them. They usually thaw them in groups until you have the amount you need to transfer. They do not refreeze thawed embies as far as I know. As far as how many you should transfer, you should base that on previous sucess and age of eggs at the time of fertilization. I transfered 4 but have never had a successful IVF before. Best of luck to you!

Melissa- I am so sorry to hear about what is happening with your triplets. I was wondering how you were doing and think of you often. I can't imagine what you are going through. How long will it take to get the results of the cvs? I hope they come back quickly and that the other 2 babies are healthy. Keep us posted.

Hi Everyone,
How are you all doing? Things seem to have slowed down a bit here - I guess the holiday season was keeping everyone busy.

Melissa I am really sorry you have to go through all that. It doesn't seem fair - you have been through enough.

Ronda I had one FET with only one embryo. I got pregnant but it ended in a miscarriage. I think a lot depends on how they are stored - lots of clinics will not store them as singles. We had ours stored as 3 but one was not good and we chose only to transfer one as we didn't want a twin pregnancy. It is a lot cheaper. I think our was only around $600 - 700. You can have medicated or unmedicated cycles though so I guess the costs vary there. Basically you are only paying for the transfer. I think the retrieval is the expensive part. We have some on ice now but I am not sure what we will do with them.

AFM I am doing OK. I have lots of ligament pain on one side which although is not that painful if you are still it is annoying as it just seems to come out of the blue and it can last for 30 minutes or 5 hours. Dr. hopes that the baby will change position and that will take some of the pressure away and it might improve. I am expecting a girl which we are very excited about. I just wish I was 35 weeks pregnant not 25! Oh well lets hope the next 10 weeks are uneventful. I still find it hard to relax and take it as it comes although I have bought a few baby clothes so must be feeling optimistic somewhere in that head of mine.

I hope you are all doing well.

Lisa- I can not believe how big the boys are getting!! I love their website!

Rhonda- i am in the same situation as you with the FET. Carly is now 8 months old already and i have been thinking about a FET since right after i had her! We are holding off now as we only have 1 embie frozen and I can not do another IVF due to getting the blood clot from the meds :( So i am nervous now about our only 1 not making the thaw

lyly, Marina and Carylysmom,

Thanks for the info on FET. I wasn't sure how the embies were stored (#'s wise) and have no idea how mine are stored. I guess I will have to contact the lab and get that info.

Jamie,

Wow, FET was alot cheaper, but for some reason I had it in my head it was a couple thousand dollars b/c of monitoring, transfer and meds. Again, guess it would warrant a call to lab/RE. If its a couple thousand, I'm not sure we would be able to do it this Fall (no insurance coverage and still paying credit card bill for last IVF).

Glad to hear you are ok, even with the ligament pain. I had that alot with my first pg and it is very painful. Seems like alot of IVF babies are girls! Congrats because GIRLS ROCK!!!

Melmar,

I am soo sorry to hear about what is going on with you. I know you must be struggling and my thoughts are with you.

Hi guys,
Ronda-my FET was going to be around$4500- $5000,it depends on if they do natural or medicated(lupron, estrace). But with natural they do more monitoring(u/s,bloodwork) which comes to almost the same price.Monitoring comes to around 2000-2300 and transfer around 1500-2000.We had no coverage,if your insurance covers monitoring, then it will be cheaper.

Jamie-congrats on a girl! How lucky and fortunate is that for you! :D I didn't know you are having a girl, you never mentioned before!Sorry you are having a pain :? I guess, it's part of the deal, something to look forward

I had a little brown spotting on Monday and went to see my babies(gosh,I just love my office, they told me to come right away),luckily everything was looking good, they took blood for progesterone level-was normal. So they don't know what was the reason-maybe I overdid housework on Sunday or it's something has to go with the third sac.But for now everything fine.

Melissa, how is everything? What did you find out?

hi everyone!

Back to work for me on Monday. I have been bawling on and off all week. I really have enjoyed being home with my girls.....but gotta have a paycheck and my paid time has run out.

I emailed my favorite nurse at the RE clinic. She said FET would be $3100 plus meds. my snow babies are stored in 3 sets of 2 and the rest as singles (total of 10). Found out my favorite nurse is also leaving the RE ofc and going back to work at the hospital....that is a bummer because I really liked her and she has been there since I got pg with my oldest.

Marina,

glad to hear everything is ok with your twins.

Sorry to hear you have to go back to work Ronda. Time files! I am really surprised that it is so expensive for FET. Ours really was cheap I guess. We had to pay for meds on top but that was nothing - maybe $100. Because it is so expensive does that mean you will have to wait longer than you had hoped?

Marina I am pleased to hear you are doing OK. How are you feeling? I hope you are doing OK and not feeling too much morning sickness.

I am fine. My ligament pain seems to have subsided for now. Am getting pretty big. How is everyone else?

Girls,
So sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been out straight with the little guys. They are awake a lot more these days and keeping me so busy. I also haven't felt great as of late. I think my Crohn's disease is acting up a little, my stomach has been tender and my Gastro Dr. says there is a little inflamaton. I am hangin' in there. I kind of acquired a sore throat a couple of days ago as well. I am a little run down. :( Greg has been amazing. He helps more than I can say thank God. He took Wed. off just so I could get some extra sleep and yesterday came home with flowers. We have planned a date for next Friday as we haven't been able to do anything together in a long while.
Good news is I have lost all the baby weight and am pretty much back to my weight just before the fertility drugs. :)

Benjamin and Paul are thriving and eating like little piglets. I just wish they would poop more. They only go every couple of days and they get very cranky and gassy. But when they go...oh do they go!

Carlysmom...glad you like the pics on the website. :)
I have been trying to take pics at least once a week. I even scrapbooked a little believe it or not.

Melissa, how did everything go.

Ronda, Sorry you have to go back to work. I have 7 more weeks but found myself crying the other day just thinking about going back. I feel like it is going by so fast.

Ronda I think it was you who asked about our cycle stuff...
we paid one lump sum and had the possibility of 6 cycles, 3 fresh, 3 frozen. This is given you have leftover eggs. I only ended up doing 4 cycles as two of the cycles left nothing to freeze. we paid 17K and if I didn't get pregnant, we would receive 70% of our money back. Any extras were more money like ICSI and assisted hatching etc. I gave most of my paperwork away and threw out a lot of it but we did it through Reproductive Science Center in Lexington MA>
My meds, bw and us were all covered and I didn't pay anything.

Jamie, I can't believe how far along you are!!! wow! Glad you are doing okay. I had that ligament pain too.

Jules and Lyly, I miss chatting with you on line and look for you whenever I am on. Julie, glad you got that little sign I sent for K.

I am off to feed now as it's time and they are certainly letting me know. I have finally mastered feeding them both at once. lol

love to you all!
Lisa

Lisa- I can not believe you have time to scrapbook!! I use to before I had Carly, now I barely have time to add pictures to her blog :)

We found out yesterday that my husband will be getting re-located to Clearwater FL in July! He is in the Coast Guard but we have been stationed at Cape Cod for 9 years! All of our family is here :(
But now we are not sure if we will be able to try for another baby. All of our Dr and IVF clinic are in MA. We may just try to thaw our last frozen embie and see what happens before we move. I am so scared to get a new OB though! I love mine and truly TRUST him.

Hi girls- I am so excited right now. I have been having a hard time dealing with the wait between visits to the ob. So I ordered a fetal doppler to use at home to monitor the hb. It is the coolest thing ever. I found the hb right away and I am feeling good right now.

Li- I am sorry you are not feeling well. I know the boys keep you very busy, but I miss chatting with you too! I hope we get to talk soon.

Jamie- It looks like you are moving along nicely. Glad to hear the pain is gone for now. I hope things continue to go well and you stay pain free.

Ronda- Sorry to hear you have to go back to work. It is always hard to leave your little ones, but who can afford to stay home?

Marina- How are you doing? Any more spotting? I hope all is well with you and the twins.

Carlysmom,
I try to do a little scrapbooking and that kind of stuff when the buggers are sleeping. Mind you, my scrapbooking is simple and not what it used to be. I only do special occasions for pages or spreads and the rest are just slipped chronologically in to a pocket album. I decided that was how I would do it. :)
