stay positive- what a wonderful attitude to have...ivf can takes its toll on the best of us and it is so important to keep up the pma (positive mental attitude). I do think joining this forum is one of the best things I have ever done, and I am sure you will feel the same. It is very isolating not to know anyone going through the same thing, which is why this message board is awesome. And the women here are some of the most incredible ladies I have ever met! I will add you to our list...and we will answer all of your questions along the way!
rosario- I would call RE too, that's what they are there for.
nicksgam- af is still pretty heavy for me after starting bcp's, but usually only for 4/5 days. I am sure it is fine though.
chris- I was on here for a while doing those personals, but I really wanted to hit everyone...I know it is hard to keep up once there are a lot of us, which it seems there already are, I try to respond to people who have posted since my last post, that way I can try to keep up with everyone.
I just wanted to say Happy Mother's Day to everyone here, whether you have a child already or are trying...hopefully by next mother's day, we will all have little ones in our arms!

4th IVF - Fall 2011??
I've not been on the board much 'cos I was waiting to find out about what IVF is all about and the timing that I'm going to be following. It's all become clear - I got my period last Thursday, went on the pill (how counter-intuitive is that?!) and today I started the injections. They're called Decapeptyl - I've not seen anyone else mentioning this name so I just wondered if anyone else has had the same thing?
I must admit that I'm freakin' terrified. Not so much of the injections themselves but the side effects. Am I about to turn into an menopausal monster? In two weeks time I'm going to Copenhagen for a week for work, so I'm going to have to learn how to inject myself and somehow fit the injections in between early morning meetings. Joy! Does anyone know how important it is to have them at exactly the same time each day. Do you think 30 mins here or there make a difference?
I have an appointment with my doc on 29 May where he'll decide when to start the next lot of injections - I guess to stimulate those follicles. I've just found out (after being told for 4 yrs that we have unexplained infertility) that my egg reserve is low. A year ago I was doing my final round of IUI and I over-responded to the stimulation so I think they thought I had tons of eggs - perhaps I did, and they've just degenerated quickly in the past year. I was really upset to hear this 'cos it started me wondering about how long we've got and whether I should accept that we're unlikely to ever have more than one child, but each time I start thinking about this I'm pulling myself back - one thing at a time eh?!
I'm sorry I haven't got any useful advice or words to offer to any of you 'cos I'm kind of new to this. But I'm really happy to have found you all and I look forward to sharing this adventure with you.
crashing your thread just to say Kushka : I am French and they also use decapeptyl for shutting down the ovaries.
Normally i have 1 injection of deca a day ( for about 10/15 days) and dont really suffer from any symtpoms but
I am now in UAE Dubai and they also use it here. The only difference is that I get only 1 shot . that's it. So it is great because the less injections I get the better I feel, but it means that this shot is stronger and did I suffer from hot flushes the first week!
wishing luck to all,
xxx

yay Rosario! Our first stimmer! I will move you on the list...
angie- i don't know what you have asked already, or what you already know, but some things I always ask are, dates, protocol (like what meds and how much of them), and thoughts about how many they transfer and their success rates. Those are just some general things I think all of us like to know.

Rosario,
Let me know how the shots go. I start Lupron on Friday & frankly not to thrilled about them- shots in general. Nurse ordered me numbing cream-hope it works. Michele, add me to the stim list. I think I'm the only one going the donor route- so things will be a little different for me.
How is everyone? What's new? Thinking of you all & wishing us babies!

Wow everything seems to be happening now. Good luck to everyone starting their stims. I just started BC today. I have a Test and Teach on May 19th. Take a deep breath, let it out, and here we go!
I hope it all works out for everyone!
Angie_ Good luck and all I know is I always forgot something to ask, but always called back later. My hang up was the meds.

Thanks for your message. It's great to hear that you didn't have many symptoms - that's the thing I've been so worried about. Trying to hold it all together emotionally is hard enough, but coupled with feeling physically terrible fills me with dread.
MY DH and I have been TTC since January 2008. Little did I know that I had hydros in both tubes. So much for a year of temping and peeing on a stick non-stop! Had my tubes removed about 5 weeks ago and my doc just started me on a cycle of birth control . . . should get a calendar in a few days and had the "how-to shot clinic" today as well . . . so overwhelming! Her only concern is that my follicles seem to be low in number, so she is giving me an aggressive shot regimen . . .
I can't believe the process is finally starting!
=)
I did my shots earlier this evening. I took my 300 units of Gonal f and my 10 units of Lupron (diluted). Everything went well. I would expect it to since this is my 3rd fresh cycle. Only thing I noticied was how itchy I was feeling after it. I blocked it out and put it in the back of my mind now all is well. Another day tomorrow and I can't wait!!!!!

I am glad to see that people are really moving along and a few steps ahead of me (that way, I can learn from all of you who are out there blazing the trail so to speak).
I received my Clomid Challenge Test results today...I'm happy to say I passed with flying colors...all the numbers looked good. So, the doctor will review everything tomorrow and decide on the protocol he wants to use. I am currently on Day 12 of my cycle, and when AF comes, I should officially start my very first IVF cycle! I am still so new to this, and not even sure what comes first? I think it will be birth control pills, but then I get confused when I read all the other posts saying that people are starting stims? Anyway, I'll learn all of this in due time. I know that somewhere in there will be all the shots (eee gads) and other meds, so I will keep you posted.
My DH and I are still trying naturally this month, one last time and just for the heck of it. We know our chances are low, but why not try--especially since I just finished a round of Clomid. We are going to the same resort this weekend where we got engaged. 2 days of relaxing by the pool, getting massaged, eating good food. It is a mini vacation that we intentionally planned as a final thing before we start the IVF. Also, it just so happens I will likely be ovulating while we are there, so that's great timing. Positive attitudes abound!
My thoughts are with everyone in the upcoming days....I want to hear your stories and know your progress and I will keep you posted on what I learn re: my own course of action. It's been great getting going on this forum and I look forward to many more posts. BEST to you all!
Great to see everyone is moving along. Its certainly going to busy around here soon!
Got my period this afternoon, my clinic takes your day 1 as the first day you wake up with your period so Day 1 is officially tomorrow. Will give the clinic a call in the morning and expect to start birth control in a couple of days time. This is IVF#4 for us so feel very "old hat" at this. The best advice I can offer is don't hesitate to ring the clinic if you aren't sure about anything and just go with the flow. At first I remember it all seemed very confusing but once you get a few injections, bloods and scans under your belt its pretty smooth sailing really.
Rosario - good luck and loads of ++++ thoughts your way.
Stay positive - how exciting you're about to get started. Have a great time away and relax.
I know I've missed loads of people but I'm sending a big shout out to all of you.
