Wondercat - Sean is so adorable!

Faith likes to put her fists into her mouth and suck on it! During tummy time, she is quiet for 5 minutes and then gets frustrated, but she does try to lift her head and chest which is great!! Her "coos" are getting longer now. Its almost like a song :-)

Did you all check out babiesrus this week? They have good sale - I bought some summer dresses for Faith for $5 each!!

Hey everyone! Long time no see, I haven't gotten any notices that anyone has posted. UGH
Anyway, I'm doing great, Gabbi is doing great. Her torticollis is almost gone, but her head is still a little flat. So I'm hoping she doesn't have to get a helmet. She's smiling all the time and cooing all the time. It's so cute!! Gabbi is sleeping through the night, usually from 11pm till 9am, she's a good sleeper! She's still sleeping in my room though in her pack n play...when I put her in her crib she cries. Probably my fault, she's so attached to me already. She cries when she can't see me.
She's holding her head up great and is trying to sit up on her own. When doing tummy time, she moves her arms and legs like she wants to crawl!! I'm so proud of her! LOL
Some of you were asking about birth control, I'm not on anything since they removed my tubes, I'm totally sterile to begin with. I do want another baby, I'm thinking of trying again next summer. I might lose my mind if they are too close together.
Well, I'll write again soon, take care ladies!!

Kelly, Chaz's head is also flat. Actually REALLY flat in the back. We have our 4 month appt tomorrow so I'll ask the pedi how serious he thinks it is. I read some places that it will correct itself and I've seen where others have to get a helment. I really hope we don't have to get one.

Amy, I just saw your reponse to anther post I had about travelling (not sure how I missed it!). But yes, we are coming to Fort Wayne! We'll be there next week, April 7th through April 12th. Let me know if you'll have any free time and maybe we can meet at a mall or somewhere for lunch or something. DH is coming up for his bestfriend's wedding which is on that Saturday. The twins also hate tummy time!! They have never liked being on their bellies. They can only go about a minute and then start to scream at the top of their lungs. So I try to put them in their bumbo seats a few times a day and I can already tell their neck muscles are strenghting. They seem to do a little better everyday.

Hi Wondercat and welcome! Sean is too cute!!! :D

AFM, the twins are still dealing with colds. Actually we all are! I feel like we've all been sick for the past month. But we're dealing with it and I don't freak out as much hearing the twins cough anymore :P . For the past 2 days though Joslyn has been super fussy! It seems to be triggered as soon as she starts to eat from her bottle. I'm convinced it's teething. I think her little gums are sore. I gave her a little tylenol and she was back to being as happy as can been. Then last ngiht she woke up about 3 times...normally she sleeps through the night without waking at all! She didn't make too big of fussy. I just went in, gave her her paci (which is odd that it doesn't seem to bother her gums like the bottle), rubbed her belly and she immediately goes back to sleep. The day care just called and said she's been getting fussy today with her bottles and is a little warm with a temp at 99.8. I'm glad we have an appt in the morning to sort this all out!

Anyone else dealing with teething? What are your symptoms? The twins are also drooling a lot and putting things in their mouths. Chaz chews on his tongue like he's chewing gum

Kutekellie- you'r so lucky that Gabbi is sleeping through the night!!!! Mine still wakes up around 3-4 for a bottle, she was sleeping from 8-till 7am for a week and now she's back up to waking up but no complaning here at least i get 7hrs of straight
sleep much better than waking up every 2 hrs!!! :)

Tara- mine DD had the red skin in her neckfolds underneath her chin. I was told its from sweat i cleaned it out good and used a&d cream every other day for about a week and it went away

cymplicity- are you sure the fever is from the cold? i heard when babies teeth sometimes they get a low grade fever. My girl is teething too, she's drooling so much i have to use bibs all the time she also puts her WHOLE fist in her mouth and sucks on in and rubs her bottom gums with her fingers. I sometimes rub her gums with my fingers and she loooooves it. Like Chaz she chews on her tounge too thats too funny my friend told me she looks like she chews gum all the time lol

Time is flying by cant believe she's 3 months old, she signs and talks all the time, she haaaaaates tummy time she screams on top of her lungs so i dont bother i just put her on my tummy for couple of mintues and thats it. She does hold up her head for a long time it doesnt wabble anymore but her head was really strong form birth. She also tries to sit up when i hold her hands she pulls so hard i dont really need to help her that much to get up, shes a strong one!!!!.

so did anyone start solids yet???? I cant wait till the 4mo appt. she doubled her weight at her 2mo check up so i hope i get to start solids soon. She's so hungry all the time i dont think formula fills her up anymore she can eat 7oz  I dont know where it fits in her little tummy lol

ok g2 run back to work take care!!!!

dys24, no I don't think the fever is from her cold. I do think it may be from teething. Your DD is drinking 7 oz?! I feel like Chaz should be drinking more. He's up to 6. Whenever we think we need to up it, he starts to lose his appetite and not eat as much. Jos is always about an ounce behind him so she's at 5 oz now. But since they've had colds it's been all over the place! Last night we tried the fast flow nipples out on both of them. It cut feeding time in 1/2 and they both didn't seem to have any problems with it! I still sent slow flow nipples to day care because I wanted to work with them a bit more at home first. Now that I think about it, Jos got through the 2 fast flow nipple feedings without crying last night...hmmm. I bet it was easier on her gums!

I'm not looking forward to solids. I don't know why...maybe because I have to feed 2? I'm curious to see what the pediatrician will tell us tomorrow. In the past he just mentioned we could start between 4 - 6 months.

Shots tomorrow...fun fun :?

Yes she does eat that much!!! lol couple of times she ate 8 oz   but she doesnt eat 7oz every feeding usually the 7oz is in the morning and before bed and 5-6 oz every 3-4hrs daytime. I have no idea where the 8oz fit in her tummy seriously lol but she is a big girl I tried a faster flow nipple and she hated it the stuff was leaking from her mouth lol the nipples dont seem to bother my dd gums she actually likes the paci so i dont think the nipple is any different?

My pedi said if she doubles her weight (which she did at 2mos lol) we could start solids at 4mo i cant wait i think this will stop her from waking up at night but yes feeding two will probably take you forever! good luck tomorrow and let me know what the pedi told you about solids ( cant you see i cant wait lol?)

Cymplicity - I took Gabbi to the docor the other day for her 4 month visit. She said her head looked a lot better and that she didn't need a helmet. She said by 6 months it should improve even more and that by the time she gets hair, you shouldn't notice it at all. So I was HAPPY!! She also got her shots and weighed in at 15 pounds 12 ounces....25 inches long!
Gabbi has also been teething, she drools like crazy and went through the same fussiness your twins are! My doc. said it's called "pre-teething". Gabbi did that about 3 weeks ago...fussed when she took her bottle, had a slight fever, chewed on everything, and was drooling like crazy. When I asked the doc about it the other day, she said since no tooth was visable, that it was pre-teething. If she was actually teething she said a tooth would pop through within a few days.

dys24 - From the time Gabbi was born, she hated tummy time. But within the last month or so, she really likes her tummy time now! She smiles and plays with her toys while on her tummy mat. I went to Babies R Us and bought her a Pretty in Pink Tummy Time mat and she loves it. It has toys connected to it and she grabs for them and laughs. The more you do tummy time, the more they like it. Also, get down on the floor with them so they can see you...that helps. I had to make her do tummy time so she didn't spend so much time on her head...it helped with her flat head.
I have started solids with Gabbi, about a week ago. Her doc said to start them when she turned 4 months since she has more than doubled her birth weight (she's almost 16 pounds). She eats her rice cereal once a day. I bought her the plain rice cereal and she would spit it out and act like she was going to throw up. So, I went back to the store and bought the rice cereal with bananas and apples in it and she loves it. She also likes the oatmeal with banana. So I would suggest to get a flavored rice cereal when you start feeding solids.
Otherwise, Gabbi eats about 7oz. of formula the rest of the day.

I have also tried the fast flow nipples...Gabbi drank with them fine, but would get bad reflux and spit up, which she never did with the slow nipples. So, even though it takes longer to feed her, I went back to the slow nipples...I don't plan on trying again with the fast flow till about 6 months.

cymplicity27 - How did you get the picture into your signature?

kutekelly99 - Sean has been pre-teething, too. I can't keep his hands out of his mouth, and he has finally even started gnawing on some teething toys. He even latched onto my arm the other day while I was giving him his bath! I am ever vigilant to make sure he doesn't get any funny ideas about the cats or dogs...

On drinking, Sean can do 6.5 oz at a time his second feeding in the morning, the rest of the time he prefers smaller more frequent meals. Since he still sleeps 8-12 hours every night this isn't a problem. I think he just has a little tummy and doesn't like to feel too full. Everybody in my family is small - my dad is 142 lbs. - so I'm not going to try and force him to eat more at once. I certainly don't want to get him in a habit of eating until he is overly full all the time, I would worry that could lead more easily to him having problems with obesity. He uses Avent #2 nipples; not sure what the flow rate is on those but he was getting frustrated with the #1 size. I think as long as the babies are happy, healthy, and putting on weight well there's no sense in worrying about how much they drink at a time or how fast. They are all different in what they prefer.

Tummy time has hit an all-time low: He has figured out how to roll over, so he only stays on his tummy for about 5 seconds before rolling onto his back again. His big thing now is standing up in the bed holding the iron footboard while I support his butt. Now that he has experienced being able to stand up and look around he will cry when I put him on his back!!

My big questions right now are about weaning. He has been slowly moving to more formula than breastmilk since I work full-time, but this week I am going to slowly stop with the breastfeeeding altogether. Any tips? And most importantly what will happen to my boobs? I have gone up literally 4 cup sizes, from 32C to a full 32F+ and larger when engorged. 32C sounds larger than it is, it's like a B only on a puny ribcage, so having none of my jackets close this winter was definitely, um, interesting. Are they going to go back to "normal"?

Hi everyone!

I suck. I have not posted in so long. But, I just read and caught up with everyone, so glad to hear that everyone's little ones are doing well and growing!

Wondercat!!!! I'm really happy to see you on this thread! Sean is adorable.

Fox and Violet are now 5 months old. They are such amazing babies!

Our pediatrician told us early on that generally boys are faster with the motor skills and girls are much more social early on. This is so true with our twins. Fox is better with his hands and he rolled over (purely by accident) for the first time this week. He usually rolls to his side, but hasn't quite figured out to move his arm yet.
Violet has been much more social for some time now. She is so smiley and loves to just sit and be held. She's a little behind him on the motor skills, but not too far.

Our Doc said no solids until six months since they are growing very well. We bought their high chairs this week so that they can get used to sitting in them and sitting with us at the table before we try to feed them. Exciting stuff!

Tummy time: this has gotten better. They used to HOWL when we put them on their tummies, but now that their necks are better they are slowly liking it. The bumbo really helped us too. We have one that they share. It helped them use the neck muscles and gain strength.

Drooling: full time bib with her, and for him, sometimes. She drools A LOT. God bless those waterproof bibs. They love to chew on their fingers and the side of their fist, which leads to more drool. But the Dr said they are not teething yet, just drooling like normal.

Cynthia, same here about the amount of the bottles. V is usually an ounce behind F. Right now they usually drink about 5 1/2 for her and 6 1/2 for him, sometimes more, many times less.

As for me, I'm still pumping and nursing but just a few times a day. They are mainly on formula. But a little breastmilk, which I will do as long as I can.

More kids: I only had one tube, and I had it tied when these two were born. My pregnancy was so incredibly complicated that I know I could never do it again. I was so lucky to have both a son and a daughter at the same time, that our family feels perfect this way.

Speaking of sales, Kohl's has shorts for $5 and they are cute- simple, no frills cotton shorts. I stocked up!

aspotofTea - I don't blame you, if I would have had twins this time, I wouldn't dare have any more.
My pregnancy was complicated and I had pre-term labor, pre-eclampsia and many other things. I spent a lot of time in the hospital with this pregnancy. But, at the same time, I don't want Gabbi to be an only child. I want her to have a sibling, even if I have to go through a bunch of crap again. So I do plan to try again next summer...we have two frozen...so we plan to use them. I don't know that I would do another full cycle if nothing comes of the two that's frozen.

Wondercat- So he doesn't like tummy time? Well, I don't think it will matter in the end. I wouldn't push him. Gabbi really likes her tummy time now...thank goodness!!

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Hi Ladies,

Its good to read about everybody's updates.

Faith started laughing aloud this week. She squeaks and squeals aloud when she is very happy. And I think she has started to make out people's faces. All these days she has been seeing only me, DH and her caretaker at day care. Ocassionally she meets some of our friends, but mostly she is sleepy at that time. Today when someone new came home to visit, she started crying at the sight of that person!! When I took her in my arms, she calmed down! I felt so special :-)

She too drools a lot, hates tummy time. She drinks about 6.5 ounces of formula.

Anybody tried the Kirkland brand diapers? Are they as good as Pampers?

Now that the weather is great, Faith is enjoying her stroller trips to the park nearby.

Tara - I actually have never tried the Kirkland diapers, but I have tried a bunch of different kinds. When Gabbi was first born, I used Pampers for about the first month and a half. Then I tried Huggies, didn't really like them. Tried Fisher Price brand from Babies R Us, didn't like them. Tried Babies R Us brand, didn't like them. Then someone gave me a giant pack of Luvs. I told my husband that I didn't want them because I had tried so many different kinds and I didn 't like any of them. So I put the Luvs in the trunk of my car and was going to take them to Wal-Mart and exchange them. Well, I ran out of diapers before I got to go to Wal-Mart, so I got them out of my car and tried them. And now, I love luvs!! I don't buy anything but Luvs now. Her butt never feels wet and they are half the price of Pampers! When I put Pampers on her, my husband would always say "she feels wet!". I just really like Luvs, if you guys haven't tried them, you should. Her butt never feels wet and if I'm out shopping and don't change her diaper for a few hours, they work great...no leaks!
So anyway, that's my diaper story LOL

Ladies,

Faith started sleeping 10 hours (8:30pm to 6:30am) straight for the past 4 days!!! I can't be happier!!! I hope she continues to do so.

She has stranger anxiety. Whenever she sees someone new, she starts crying. A few minutes later, if that new person is talented enough to sweet talk to her, she becomes comfortable with them.

Anyone know any information on donating baby clothes? I have a whole box of newborn clothes that Faith outgrew. Some of them are pretty much new.

Tara.

Hello Ladies,

Faith had her 4 months checkup and vaccine shots this morning. She is weight is 15.5 lbs and her height is 26 inches. She is 80 percentile in weight and 95 percentile in height. Head measurement was some 16cm or something. I thought babies could start on solid food when they are double their birth weight, but Faith's pedi recommends to start solids once she is 6 months old. Can't wait.

Hello Ladies!

Hope you all had a great weekend. How are the little ones doing?

Faith rolled over to her tummy for the first time last Saturday! For a couple of minutes she lifts her head high, looks around and smiles, but then I guess her neck starts hurting so, she lies her head down and starts crying. Then I help her roll to her back again. Now that she discovered how to roll over, she keeps doing it again and again every few minutes, and each time I have to roll her back. Yesterday I was doing it all day and got tired.
