Hi there!!
Hope everyone is OK
Had blood and scan yesterday -looks like I'm downregged - so start puregon injections on Thursday. Yippee!
Hey - the GOOD news is that my doctor said the odd glass of wine was absolutely fine - YEEEHAH!!
So sad is my life - that ONE glass of wine is now a big night! TRAGIC.

He was a bit iffy about exercise tho - which worries me a tad - as have to admit am a BIT of a fitness fan (my ONE and ONLY GOOD vice i assure yoU!), and a bit worried I may go up the wall not doing any exercise. Everyone says SWIM - but I'm a completely crap swimmer and cant even swim in a straight line!! HELP!!

Take care all!

Hi Caz

Day 2 of Puregon for me! Were you sniffing or injecting to downreg? What date is DH booked for his op?

What is the deal with the exercise thing? My clinic said the same?? Have you had any explanations why......I thought being fit and healthy was good?? I went for a 45 min run this morning cause I am fed up feeling like a cooped up chicken...........was actually thinking of going into proper training for a 10k run to give me something else to focus on!

Anyway glad you are doing well and everything is going according to plan!

Hope everyone else is doing good......Traci babe how are you??

Hello everyone

I have been sniffing for nearly a week now and I must say I feel...well....rubbbish!
One thing the after taste in my mouth is horrible and I also feel quite miserable a lot of the time. I am now getting worried that a lot of people say IVF doesn't often work first time.

I have just read you saying that some doctors say exercise is not a good idea. I thought the idea was to lead as normal a life as possible. I am sure a lot of the reason I have not got pregnant in the last two years and have unexplained infertility may be psychological, I think I stress about it too much. If I stop exercising and doing other things normal to me I am sure I would be more stressed.

But then again, if they advise no exercise I am sure I would want to do as they say. I think I will ask at my scan on Tuesday. I am going on Tuesday to see whether I have downregged enough and if I can start on the injections or carry on just sniffing.

I am spending bank holiday weekend with my beautifual niece and nephew, (ages 2 and 1) as it is my nephew's first birthday on Sunday. They are the best!!

Good luck everyone, once again

Hi guys
Just sat down after 2hours of ironing  I hate ironing but as I'm off work for 2 weeks I'm trying to get all the house work done so on my 2ww I can just chill on the sofa watching dvds.
I hate excerise so the 1st chance Ive got to give it up I do I only go to 1 keepfit class a week which I went to on mon which I think will be my last as hopefully ec will be some time time next week and as its a bank holiday on mon there isnt a class :D,wish I did love excerise I only go because I think I should be some exercise as I go to a slimming class.
Go tomorrow morning for a scan and blood test so hopefully on thurs I will be starting my 2nd injection of orgalutran.
Hope everyone else is ok,soz I havent named you all but I want to look at the rest of the board and my eyes are half closed now I've sat down.
Love gemxxxxx

Hi girls,

What is all this exercise thing? Do you mean we shouldn't do any exercise while downregging and stims? I can understand the 2ww but I go mad with exercise in the weeks before EC - just think how bloated you would get without it - it's the only thing that holds the pounds off and I'm still putting on around 2 pounds with each ivf session!!!

Caz, can you let us know what your doctor said was it just the 2ww wait or all the way through?

Exercise or not

Post by Bronagh »

Seen we are all talking about exercise I though I|'d share with you what Zita WEst says in her book fertility and conception which has a very good section on preparing for \ivf

" try to aviod strenous exercise, such as aerobics.YOur body needs rest as your hormonal system shuts down to prepare for IVF. take gentle forms of exercise instead, such as walking or yoga"

also from her book
"
Avoid all aerobic exercise.I advise all my clients to avoid strenous exercise. while the reproductive system is shutting down during suppression, they should follow suit. During stimulation while the body is growing eggs, aerobic exercise will take away from this by redirecting blood flow away from the follicles"

|then during the 2ww things to avoid
-caffeine,tobacco,alcohol,drugs
-heavy lifting
-strenuous exercise ,including housework
bouncing activities, such as horse riding or aerobics
-sun bathing,saunas,hot tubs,jacuzzis,hot baths
-swimming
-sexual intercourse.

fun eh

Hope this add to the debate.

gym membership

Post by Bronagh »

i also have a health club membership but have just changed what I do more walking and swimming with yoga when |I can get to it, I think its important to do some exercise if thats what your used to, but do things in moderation it just seems to make sense to me.

The only thing the hospital told me was take folic acid, I asked them about alternative therapies and they said they dont tell people to do it but if they do they dont tell them not to. Thats why I bought that book because I wanted to find other ways of helping the cycle along, but who knows what really works.

Hi Girls,

I think the exercise thing is, as Bronagh said, just a need to be sensible. I heard that you should really do it on the 2WW as it raises your body temp like saunas, jacuzzies etc. During down reg and stim I just ease my level down a bit ready to stop completely for 2WW. I then pick it up again.

I was also told no swimming after 2WW. So Caz it doesnt matter if you cant swim in a straight line.

Tania - enjoy the w/e with your neice and nephew.

Gem - I sympathaise with you re your DH hardly drinking. I hardly ever drink to try and help my fertility and I ask my DH to stop for a month or so and you would think I had asked him to amputate his foot instead! I wonder how they would like to go through eveything we do?

Good luck all of you
Love Allison.
