Hi everybody

Hope you are all ok and not finding things too stressful.

I started my bursulin injections yesterday. When my husband rang the hospital to arrange a baseline scan they said there isn't any available until October 11th so I need to inject for an extra 12 days...at least they said they will supply the extra bursulin due to it being their fault. So by the end of this cycle I will have had over 100 injections!

A quick question, we are flying out to Majorca tonight and I will need to inject either at the airport or on the plane. The thing is I don't really want to have to do it in the toilet so I was wondering if it is ok to inject in the stomach -I usually do it in the top of my leg. I thought i could find a quiet corner just before we board the plane and do it there. I do not use the auto injecter (I'm too scared of it) and my husband is petrified of needles so I am injecting myself again. 8)

Good luck to everyone hope there are lots of positive results!

HI Jackie,

My nurse told me that it doesn't matter which part of the body you inject as long as there is a fleshy area to inject into. I am injecting Purgeon.

There were a few tips recently about how to keep your meds refrigerated while traveling ... if you haven't planned anything you could take a look at those threads.

I am injecting at the moment too. EC is planned for the 27th ... are we around the same time?

Have a lovely holiday,

Hi Pam

Thank you for your quick reply, I was a bit worried because we are leaving at 3pm for Gatwick. Injecting in my stomach won't be a problem then -lots of flesh there -unfortunately!!!

I think I will be a bit behind you. I started downregging yesterday and don't have the baseline scan until 11th October to move onto Menopur injections which will then make it 3 injections a day -lovely. So I think our egg collection etc will be at the end of October.

Good luck for the 27th I think that is the day after we get back off holiday. Hope everything goes ok for you.

Thanks again

Hi Girls

i'm going to have to leave this thread because i went to see my consultant last night, following my dh's successful sperm retrieval, thinking we could start immediately. He said there were no available dates for egg collection until late Nov/early Dec.

I'm really disappointed because we first saw him in April and we are self-funding so i thought things would happen really quickly as soon as we got the sperm.

anyway, i'll leave you all to it (but i'll keep checking on you!!) and wish you all the very best of luck.

love
Natalie

Well done on the successful sperm retrieval......it must have been a big relief for you both!

Sorry to hear your treatment is going to be delayed.....just use the time to get yourself even more prepared.........at least you now have the sperm to do it with!!

Look after yourself and I will be keeping an eye out for you in Nov/Dec, the time will fly....honest!!

Hi Kel,
Thanks for writing. I have yet another scan tomorrow to see if the extra 3 weeks on nasal spray and the drugs to bring on another AF has finally made me down reg. I am nervous of course and dreading them cancelling my treatment. I will let you know how I get on. I hope everyone is doing ok and managing to keep a PMA love jill x

Hi Jen,
Thanks for the note. I have had very little in the way of side effects on the spray too, I see Kel is worried about this too. ( Hope Spain went really well Kel). I really wish more would happen then at least you feel it is working. I went for another scan today and my lining was 4mm, they said they would rather it had been 3mm but would go with that. What a relief! So on I go with the next lot of drugs to build my lining up. I have 16 days now before ET, my nurse told me my donor and the other recipient are both fine.

Alison, you did well getting your eggs rest up now. Good luck for the 4th!!!!
Jen, has your AF arrived yet?
Natalie, glad the sperm retrieval went well sorry you have yet another wait but we will all be here for support when your time comes around.
Hope everyone is doing ok keep writing girls the information you read here and the support has been invaluable to me. Take care all and speak soon love Jill x

Hi everyone,

glad to hear everyone is moving along well. I start the sniffing tomorrow-not looking forward to it because I have a cold! Kinda excited to begin; still hasn't sunk in that I'm beginning my second go at this.

My sense from others going through this is that symptoms are never consisitent from treatment to treatment-so though I had few symptoms witht he snifffing last time (I think I had one hot flash and oh yes, I felt really depressed at times, I had forgotten about that, something I am not looking forward to at all) this time, I don'tr know what to expect as things may be a bit different. Perhaps I'm just rationalizing here, cause you know I'll be anxious if I too feel like its not working! I'm also mentally preparing myself for things not to run to schedule, just as they did last time. I agree with all of you that the spray does not seem as reliable as injections, but I only say that becaus eI've not heard of anyone doing injections for down-regg who has not run to schedule. Could be wrong.

Allison-things sound good. best of luck on the 4th, I'll be thinking of you. I'm glad there are a few of you keeping up with everyone, as I seem to be so completely unable to. Easily overwhelmed right now, I think, though I've been keeping up reading everyone's posts. Work has very much been preoccupying me mentally right now. I know that will all soon change!

Elizabeth

Good luck

Hi Elizabeth

Firstly - good luck with the treatment. Is this your second??

I am getting really sick of the spray and I am going to ask if I can change to the injections when I go for my scan. I feel that I have enough to worry about without worry that my cycle is going to be cancelled because the shagging spray is crap!!!

Here endeth my rant!

Hi JenF,

Yes, this is my second time at IVF. I tested last July (a bad month for many of us, I believe, as there were an inordinate amount of negatives). I initially tested a very low positive, but was told it would result in a very early miscarriage, which indeed happened.

I can see your point about switching. I've just been looking at my diary (or agenda) and I'm thinking of the meetings I will have to miss if my egg collection and transfer is pushed up like it was last time. There's enough to stress about! I don't really like the needles, but was surprised at how well I tolerated them. The only pain is making time for them in the AM, as my hubby injects me-time coordination and all.

Let me know how you get on.

By the way, I'm a good ranter, so join the club. Feels good sometimes, doesn't it?
