Hi

Sorry I have not had time to read all of your posts yet so no personals. I just wanted you all to know that we went for our first scan today and we saw one baby with a lovely strong heartbeat. It was really strange because you can see the yok sac as well and to start with I thought that it was twins but there was definately only one there. We have come away with some lovely picis. The only sad thing is that I keep thinking that one of the embrios died and that upsets me, even though I never really wanted twins and I am delighted that it is one baby. Does that make sense?

I have just watched Holby City. Did anyone else see it. I have cried buckets tonight over it.

Well I am going to finish now and try to read some of your posts before bed.

Angela

Nimble - I have just read your posts and I am sorry that you are down. I could tell you not to worry but I know that you will do anyway. I just wanted to add that I have read lots of times of this thread that they couldn't see the heartbeat and then it was there the following week. How far gone are you? Our clinic won't scan until over 7 weeks to make sure they can see the heartbeat. I really hope and pray that the heartbeat will be there next week when you go back. In the meantime keep your chin up if you can.
Love Angela

Hi Everyone. I read faithfully every day and I am up to date on you all...I just don't post as often because I am still not feeling myself. The anxiety is so bad. It is crippling really. I am hoping that once I get off these progesterone suppositories...it will let up.

Nimble...I am thinking of you. Try to stay positive. Keep us posted.

I am 8 1/2 weeks...and feeling a bit better in the sick department. I am still very tired. I have seen the baby twice...both times with the heartbeat and mesuring well. I am not showing yet or even bigger at all (which I was at this point with my other pregnancies). I have actually lost weight. It is a totally different pregnancy than with my boys.

Well, I am off to rest.

Oh honey what a stressfull time you have had. Can they scan you again early instead of making you wait the week. It must be nerve wracking to be waiting.. I will be saying all my prayers for you honey...

Pebbles
Thank you for the kind words of saying you did not have the ms either.. You know we can worry about the crazy things.. Well I know I can  That is so amazing you could feel your little one(s) move so early.. That must have just brought you to tears.. When do you find out boy or girl? Will you find out?

Ange
This is just the week for scares huh? Its so good they tested you again with the beta and wow nice job with the numbers... When do you go again

Angela
Oh honey you must have been so happy to see your little one and the strong heartbeat. It must have been hard to worry about if one little beannie was lost.. I will pray that this does not way to heavily on your heart.. Did you post piccies of your little one to photobucket..

Zirly
I am so sorry you are going through such a rough time with the anxiety. When do they expect that you are going off the prgesterone. I am glad you are feeling a bit better and think how close you are to the 12 week milestone..

For me not much new here except the scan is tomorrow (late in the day) I am excited a little nervous but I am just excited to have this done and to see the little nugget maybe it will waive to mommy for the camera..

love and hugs

hi everyone, thank you for your kind words and I'm desperately trying not to worry but as you all know, you just can't help it. :)

I searched the net from top to bottom yesterday and I found an web/article that says
The embryo is first seen on high resolution scans as a thickening on the margin of the yolk sac. It may be seen at 2-4 mm Crown-Rump Length (CRL - Longest Axis) corresponding to 5.7-6.1 weeks gestational age. With high-resolution, the heartbeat is seen as a regular flutter in the embryo, first evident at 5mm CRL(6.2 week.). Thus it is possible to see healthy embryos without heartbeats. In such cases, a follow-up study in 5-7 days will almost always demonstrate the heartbeat in healthy embryos. The presence of a heartbeat is a very positive prognostic sign
so that has given me lots of hope as peanut was only 4mm and I was just 6.1wks. I have had lots of AF type aches today and each time I went to the loo I was dreading it, but so far all is well.

I don't think my clinic will allow to me to scan earlier as I guess they know that by 7.1wks they should def see a heartbeat. Here's praying.

Jackie - thinking of you tomorrow and hope you get a waive or two from little nugget.

Angela - thats fantastic news on your scan, I'm so pleased for you...does it make all the ms worth it!! :D

Jackie - Good luck with your scan tommorow. I am sure that your little one will be looking at you. I bet you can't wait to see the development from last time.

Nimble - How are you today? I hope that you are keeping your spirits up.

Zirly - It was lovely to hear from you. Don't worry about not being able to post all the time. This is the beauty of this board in that we are here when you need us but if you need a break that is fine too. I hope that the anxiety is easing soon. I too can't wait to get off the progesterone. I am feeling very sick and I wonder if they are agravating it. I have got 15 more days of them to go.

Ange - Sorry to hear about your scare. I hope that you get good news next time you go back.

As for me, well there is not much to report today. I am still feeling extremely sick and am strugling to eat anything. Now I am worried what will happen if I can't take in enough calaroies to nurish my little one. On the scan there was a big yold sack so I imagine that he/she is still feeding off that.

Hello all you lovely mommies

It sounds like some of you are having a really poor time of it at the moment. It will pass I promise. Even without being pregnant we have good days and bad days. When people get pregnant without fertility treatment they also suffer good and bad days but when you are taking progestone everything is so much worse, the tiredness, our emotions, the moods, even sickness can be affected by the progestone.

I was on the pessaries until week 13 and the shots until week 12. I am so much better since coming off them. I'm still so tired but that's because I've been put on steriods because I had a flare up of my Crohn's diseased which in turn shot my sugar levels right up which makes you very tired. I was taking 90 units of insulin a day before I was pregnant. Today I'm taking 260 and it's going up every day!

Nimble that information you found on the web sounds really promising, I think everything is going to be just fine for you and your little one. I've had cramps and pains since EC and they don't go away they just become different. As our ovaries go back to their normal size our uterus gets bigger and it is constantly moving about. If anyone went through all that without any discomfort I would be surprised. To think our tummy's are full before we are pregnant then it has to accommodate a baby, where does it all go?? Just don't think about it! lol

Angela that's great news about your scan. That's one healthy baby in there with all your sickenss (that doesn't mean anyone without sickness isn't having a healthy one!).

I'm sorry you're so sick. Worse case scenerio, keep checking your tongue. If it goes really really white then you may need to go in for some fluids to rehydrate you. If you really get worried just go see your gp for some advice or NHS Direct are really good. Don't suffer alone (not that you could ever be alone on here)!

Ange I'm sorry about your scare but your numbers sounds more than great. Keep up with the PMA, best thing for baby.

Jackie enjoy your scan tomorrow. You are going to be amazed at the difference just a few weeks has made.

Hi Zirly I'm sorry you don't feel too great. No pregnanices are the same. I'm sure you will feel a bit better once you finish with the progestone. Have they told you how long it's going to be? It's great you've seen the heartbeat twice now. I bet that's reassuring for you. Take care of yourself.

Today I went to see my gastroentrologist, he said my bloods still show inflamation and my crohn's is still active so he has given me more medication to take as well as the steriods. Tomorrow I have the Diabetic Clinic. My next scan is Thursday 26th and hopefully we will find out what flavor we are having. I'm in two minds whether to tell anyone if we do find out - of course I will tell you lot as you aren't just anyone!

I'm feeling rather uncomfortable today. Lots of pressure down low. Baby has been moving lots so that's reassuring. I will mention it tomorrow as there's a midwife at the clinic too.

I've gone on enough for one evening. I hope you all have a wonder evening/day and you all remain with lots of PMA!

Take care

Jo

Nimble sweetie,

I've just read your post. The exact same thing happend to a friend of mine (who also did IVF)..except she started cramping and bleeding!!. but she is now 25 weeks with a very healthy wee bubby on the way. Its sound like the info you have found is really good. I will have everything crossed for you for your next scan.

Sorry no time for more personals, will catch up over the weekend.

Take care

Pebbles - Thank you for the info on the progesterone suppositories. I did wonder if they could be making the sickness worse as it started very soon after transfer, far to soon for it to be real morning sickness. Oh well 14 more days of taking them then hopefully things may calm down a bit. Last night I also had some mild abdo pains but I guess they are just the uterus growing. I have had extensive scare tissue removed in the past and they did say that it will continue to grow so I guess all of that has got to stretch too.

Well I am off to try and think what I can eat for lunch that won't make me sick.

Speak to you all later

Jackie - How did your scan go? I thought we might have heard by now so I just wanted to check that you are alright.

As for me, well today the sickness seems to have abated a bit. I have been wearing sea sickness bands since monday so I am hoping that I have now finally got them positioned right so that they work. Also I have got pulling pains down below. I guess it is the baby growing slightly, at least I hope that is all it is.

I hope everyone else is well

Jackie - where are you, I want an update!!! :D I can't wait to hear how your scan went.

Angela - sea sickness bands, what on earth are they (i know stupid question) but how do they work....I just have visions of you wearing things similiar to swimming armbands...  glad to hear that the sickness is subsiding a bit today and sounds like the pressaries are not helping either. And I'm sure all you have is growing pains from a little one making themselves comfortable. I wonder if having scans causes the aches the day after?

Jo, you poor thing, not only have you got to deal with the emotions of IVF and the drugs but also those of Crohn's. How did your diabetic clinic go today....hope everything went well for you.

you must be quite excited to find out the flavour, was this your choice? Once you find out, then you can confirm whether the wife tales that were being posted earlier on this thread are true!!

Zirly - how are you today- still feeling anxious. I wonder if you're different in this pg may be yr having a little girl! Perhaps once your off the pressaries it will be much better for you.

Ange, thank you. I feeling much better about things today, the only way I can get through this week is to keep thinking that all is ok. How are you, are you ok now?

I'm having some real sharp pains around my right ovary, not as bad as it was last night, just have the odd twinge today. Will keep an eye on it just in case and started to down the water again.

Right, guess I have to check back later after eastenders to check up on Jackie.

Evening All,

Just a quickie. Went to the diabetic clinic today which was fine, they put my insulin up again which is nothing new as they seem to be doing that every day - I'm now on 280 units a day!

They've cancelled my scan next week  They said I need a specilist scan as I'm diabetic. Shame the midwife who booked this 10 weeks ago didn't think of that! The specialist who needs to do the scan has been double booked next week then he is on holiday. They can't offer me a scan for another four weeks at my hospital so I have to go to the University College Obstetric Hospital in London. Hopefully I will get an appointment for next week but if not it won't be as long as 4 weeks. I know it's better for me and they will look at the baby in more detail but I just had that date next week in my head. Especially with my sugars running so high lately I've been a bit anxious that the baby is ok.

On a plus note, as you know I've been feeling the baby moving about since 10 weeks but today I put my hand on my tummy and it kicked me! I know this isn't my first baby but everyone is so special and that moment will stay with me.

I hope the rest of you are ok. My back is hurting so I can't sit here any longer. Will check in tomorrow.

Thinking of you all

Take care

Jo

oh jo, you brought tears to my eyes reading your post....i can't wait to have that feeling of the kick.. (see still keeping up the pma).

sorry that you have to wait for your scan, don't they know how important you are! Lets hope you get one next week, its unfair to make you wait 4 wks, especially as you say with your sugar levels rising. Keep nagging them!
