Guys, I swear, I have to start to take notes LOL. You are so good in describing the rootines and feedings of your babies, it is amazing! . I think, you all have to get together, at least virtually and write a book on how to handle twins from an early on:)

Anyways I have a quesion for all of the momies here, did your babies recieve Hepatitis B virus vaccination? I have to feel out the preadmission papers at my hospital and for some reason this vaccination is optional. I am wondering why?

Malinka, mine got the vaccine. can't remember if it was optional for us. It was no big deal. However, vaccines make me nervous in general. Although my pediatrician swears that they are perfectly safe. good luck!

Kimberly--I've always kept mine on the same schedule from the beginning. Probably more for my sake than theirs. However, my friend's twins are about 3 weeks old, and she's feeding them at separate times. Sounds crazy to me, but it works for her. Good luck!

gotta run. naptime's not going too well today....

Hi all

Kimberly - we feed our babies together most times and always together of a night. The only time I am not strict on feeding them together is during the daytime when their sleep patterns may vary. The 5 - 6 pm feed I always bring them together again so that the night feeds stay the same.

Malinka - we don't have that particular vaccine in Australia - sorry can't help.

Lindsey - I did not work so I did not have to worry about time off - sorry can't help.

Cheers to all

Di

This is a great board! So much information.

Could someone tell me the name of the book that is often referred to?

Thank you!

Hey gals,

A little more time before bed, so I thought I'd get back to you....

Di, what great weights! Wow, 17 pounds for Harry! Can you believe how much they've grown since birth! I saw a newborn yesterday, and was just shocked at how tiny she was...and to think that mine were even smaller than her!

Woodcliff, congrats on your pregnancy! The book we've been referring to is called "Becoming Babywise". It's a great resource about getting your babies on a schedule...which then helps to get them to sleep through the night!

Di...you mentioned your babies sleep in different rooms during the day. Do you also do that at night? Our babies have to stay in the same room at night, since we don't have enough bedrooms to separate them. BUT, I know what you mean during naptime...as soon as I hear one baby wake and start crying, I make a MAD DASH up the stairs to grab the baby, so the other one doesn't wake...aaaaaahhh! It's not always the same baby for me. Sometimes Braeden wakes Ellie, and sometimes it's the other way around. Oh well, at least they don't wake each other over night (it's usually in the morning...)

Goodnight gals!

Hi all

Kim - I can't believe how our babies have grown. They have pretty much trippled their birth weight. Harry gets soooo heavy to carry around :D

I put the babies in the same room at night as they do not seem to wake each other up except for in the morning. They don't disturb each other when put down for that sleep either. In the daytime Harry tends to wake Bronte but sometimes it is the other way around. I sleep them in different rooms during the day so they can get maximum sleep without the other baby waking them up and me having to dash to pick the baby up! Bronte sleeps in our room on the bed but that will have to change as soon as she starts to roll. I will get a port-a-cot then so she will still sleep in our room during the day.

I agree this is a great forum as we have people who have had twins and others not so far behind who may gain from this experience. I guess we all get ideas from each other then do what works best for us.

Cheers

Di

Buckeye, thank you for your congratulations on my twins (! so excited) and for the reference to Baby Wise...

Reading this board, that some twins sleep through the night as soon as 3-4 months, reassures me on some level...

Congratulations to all of you twin moms!

What a day!!!!!!! We are ready to ban visitors forever today!!!!!! Ya know, I love the people that come to visit but let me tell you something, somedays I could really wound them!!!! Here it is 4:20 in the afternoon and my babies are just getting down for their afternoon nap after screaming half the morning! Can we say OVER STIMULATED!!!!!

I know people mean well but if you shake a baby after they eat they will spit up. If you bounce brightly colored objects within inches of their faces for hours on end it will overstimulate even the most mature adult. If you constantly ask me if I am going to p/u my babies the second they start crying you will piss me off! Can you tell I am irritated???? Had to vent but as you know we are already wrestling with our schedule this week and people that cannot respect my wishes should not come by this week.

Sorry about that. I feel a bit better now.

Congrats Woodcliff on twins!!! They really are the best thing ever! It's hard to believe how quickly your pregnancy will go by so enjoy it. I loved it and miss the having them with me every second. This is a great place for help and advice. As you can see we use each other almost daily for suggestions and so much more. Good luck! Do you know what you are having?

Malinka~ The HepB is optional here as well because I don't believe that any hopital can force you to get or give it w/o consent but like Kim said, it was no big deal. We did it but there are many other vacines I am not sure about and will have to research before I let them get. Your pediatrician is a great person to refer to regarding all shots.

Di and Kim~ Thanks for the input regarding the schedules of you babies. Since I keep them on the same schedule during the day they usually stay the same at night and I was keeping them the same at night until I realized last week that she sleeps better at night. I can't seem to find a reason to wake here if she is more capapble of sleeping longer then him. Although, this means he gets fed one more time a day than her??? Obviously, I'm still not sure if I should keep letting them do their own thing at night or not. We have only just started this. Guess we will have to see what works best?? Crystal ball anyone????

DH is out of town and the babies are really socking it to me now that they are over tired and over stimulated. I better go. What a day! Thank God they are so stinking precious or I would be at my wits end!

Take care!
Kimberly

Kimberly--I feel your pain! We were at my mom's tonight for dinner with some of the relatives who are in town for the baptism. They were very nice and all, but it's amazing how quickly the babies can get overstimulated...plus taking them out of their normal routine! Yikes! My babes normally take a nap around 5. Braeden took his early because the car ride. Ellie didn't want to go to sleep because there was so much going on. I tried to take her in another room to rock her to sleep, but she wouldn't budge. By 6 she was screaming! Yikes!. So, by 6:15 we were in the car on our way home....arrghhhh! THis makes me nervous about tomorrow. We'll have about 20 people here at our house. It'll be earlier in the day, so that might help, but if we have a meltdown, what can I do? Tell everyone to leave? Yeah, right! I can't wait until tomorrow's over.

As for vaccines, I'd love to hear some of your guys' input. We did get our 2 month shots. But, I've always had concerns. LIke I said before, my pediatrician says they are safe. Lots of other people have told me they're safe. But, then you see stories on the news....I wish I had time to research, but well.... :?

Kimberly--one more thing...I read somewhere that early on in baby's development that if they ARE picked up when they cry, the tend to develop more confidence/security. The babies who aren't picked up, tend to be worse cryers later on. Who knows if it's true, but I was always picking my babies up when they were little. I think it worked for my two (as of right now...)Now, we have to cry sometimes because I only have two hands, and they can take it....but you can tell those folks to let YOU be the mother.

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great nights sleep!

Faithandhope~ There are so many different stories regarding the BFP. I took HPT's until the day before I went in to do the beta and nothing! All were BFN's. Then I find out it a BFP and here I am with twins. So go figure! I think that people who get a positive line almost always end up pg but after the trigger shot is out of their system. If yours was neg. yesterday and faintly pos. today I would guess we owe some CONGRATS!

Kim~ Good luck with the baptism today! I don't blame you for being worried. After yesterday I would be petrified! I also read that babies who are picked up tend to be more confident. We must be reading the same books all the time. Usually, I pat them first and try to soothe them while they lay there but by round two I pick them up for a second and calm them back down before letting them go at it again. This usually works but yesterday they were crying no matter how you tried to calm them so I figured they just needed to hash it out themselves after a while. The most frustrating feeling I have had is when you are holding them and still they cry. Mine have only done that a handful of times but I just feel so bad when nothing comforts them.
I so admire you for getting your baptism taken care of! we missed our classes because of hospital bedrest and now we have to attend classes before we can schedule it. Yeah, I have time for those now! NOT! We do need to do it though. DH's family is used to a big celebration afterwards but I hope they don't expect too much here! Good luck and congrats on the baptism.

Have a great day everyone and let's hope we all have happy babies!
Take care!

Thanks Kholtan! I took one of the more expensive PT and the word "Pregnant" popped up, so I guess it is true! 5dp5dt and it already says that....it's like a dream come true! It feels very surreal! Hopefully I will be joining the pregnancy board soon!
