Hi girls,

I haven't posted for ages, but I check in and keep up to date with your progress when I can - congrats to everyone for making it to the 2nd trimester! Although the worry doesn't stop there does it!

I am now 15w3d, think our due dates are the same jamato - 18th December.

Just want to know if you guys have been experiencing cramping and feeling of downward pressure on cervix? I am sure it is probably normal, but up until now I have had 'period type pains' and stretching, but this feels different.... I missed my chair and fell on the floor last week (anyone else feeling clumsy too!!) so the bottom of my backbone hurts and maybe this is helping to cause the pressure?

Hi all,

Libby - i have felt pressure for weeks now, can't remember when from though, for me i think because i am overweight my muscles arn't as strong as they should be. A few weeks ago after work i could barely walk, evening getting into the car was very awkward, since then it has calmed down a little. I would speak to your GP and ask for their thought, it may put your mind at rest. But like you say there is always something to worry about!!!!

Welcome Danie - It does feel like a major achievement to get over to this thread dosen't it? Hoping the time flies by until your next scan.

Jamato - Nice to see you have got your next scan date, not long to go.

Cla - I thought that visiting the hospital was all part of the antenatal care, seems mad that they have cut it out, surely it can't of cost that much to have a quick guide around. Also rubbish that after the 20 week scan we get no more, if we can afford it i would definately get the 3/4D one done. How long do you think you will leave it before getting yours done?

ahart - glad to see your beanies are doing well and keeping very active.

Julie, Kristi - Hoping the rash passes soon, or at least gets a bit better.

Mel - how is your bump?

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all keeping well

love

Bella - Any news?? You must be out shopping :D

Welcome Danielle, Terri and Libby! Libby - I still get cramping..sometimes rather strong but doc says it is just my uterus growing and my body preparing. She has me on magnesium tablets which helps relax your organs (and added benefit of making your regular). I would ring your doc if you feel the cramping and pressure are too much.

Congrats Jamato on getting your scan date :D

Cla - I would definitely pay a little extra for the scans...I just love seeing the little one. I am not sure if after my level II I will get anymore scans..I have been going every 2 weeks...so she may see me every 4 weeks.

Sue - Are you still thinking about keeping the sex a surprise? Only a couple of more days for your big scan :D

HI to KristiA, Ahart, Julie, LisaB, Heather14!

All is well here..my headaches are getting better. We finally have summer in Germany and I have been loving being outside. Today I am going for a relaxing bike ride (thought I should go while I can). I start my second course of Italian on Monday and I am really nervous...I have been studying all week but it feels like my brain is mush and I can't hold anything in..so I hope I don't embarras myself too bad. Mytummy is starting to grow a little bit...it feels like it has been doing a lot of stretching. Tomorrow I get to see our little one again :D

Hi All

Hello to all the new guys joining!

So bella ... whats the happ!!

Tracii, whats a Level ii scan?? I want one! Hoping a get another one routinely, which maybe I will because of the kidney thing they noticed, otherwise I will pay private for an extra. And I so loved your post, I am feeling the same emotions! Having that second scan was such a milestone and really am starting to feel connection to my little girl already.

Getting our fair share of headaches and rashes and the rest of it, it seems! M/w told me would be getting more headaches in 2nd tri, (had them quite bad in 1st tri) coz of the big swooping up and down of hormones and blood increase. Told me to make sure blood sugar levels were level by snacking regularly (er okay no problems there!), and this would help with the headaches as well as the earlier m/s.

Sue hope your sickness is over, I know what you mean. I had been fine and then had the worst attack of sickness and violent vomitting that I have had all pregnancy a couple of times last week right out of the blue!

Am otherwise fine, sleeping too much, (more so coz am a lazy so and so now though!) and get achey hips during the night ... sleeping with pillow between knees is helping though.

Ahart hope things are going well with you. I am taking yoga for pregnant woman classes which is great. Very very gentle, have never taken yoga before, but its a really nice peaceful hour with the baby just regulating breathing and stretching out, made me feel heaps better after couple of weeks.

You over 20 week guys all not sleeping on your backs anymore? My m/w hasnt even mentionned it, but elsewhere I heard it cuts off circulation to the baby?

Questions questions, I will shut up. Bella come and distract us with the news of your scan!!

Hello to everyone else. Hope your all taking care and doing well

For Tracii .... and others starting the name searching in earnest!!! This is quite a good site, you can save your favorites etc. Lots of quite ippy dippy names but you can short list to the origins of names you like to exclude those not keen on and or search on origins or names that contain a particular meaning that you like as well as any number of phonic searches for letter sounds that you like.

Alright - I agree, I am so emotional thinking about my little one. I am so attached to....HER (!!!) already.

Yes, the munchkin I thought was a boy is actually a little girl. I totally embarrassed myself during the scan & said "ooh, I think I just saw the testes". And the sonographer said, "I hope not, that is the chest area - I am nowhere near there yet...". So when she finally got there, she said there were no testes, so the munchkin is a little girl! It was so weird at first, cos all I am thought about is my little boy inside me. I'm so glad I found out now cos I would have totally decked out the nursery in blue, trucks, planes etc. It's pink all the way for me! We are so happy - DH is ready to have a daddy's little girl, and my cat is upset cos she is not longer mummy's favourite girl.

So - a couple of points...
The old wives' tale of the heartrate is true - her heart rate started at 154 and has always been high.
The Chinese lunar calendar is correct.

I'm a little tired - but glad to read everyone is well. Will write again tomorrow....

Sue - you're next. I know you're keeping it a surprise, but one word of warning, beware of false testes!

Bella.

Yeah Bella! A girl, how fantastic!

FYI all - a friend of a friend had a baby last weekend. At the 20 week scan she found out she was having a boy. So it was boys stuff all the way. Anyway, she did in fact have a girl! Who remained nameless for 4 days cause they hadn't even considered girls names! Just a wee warning - have a back up just in case!

Contacted the private clinic and I'm booked in for a 3d/4d scan on 20th July! Hooray! They recommend anytime between 24-32 weeks so I plumped for 28 weeks as it's bang in the middle of these recommendations. 20th here we come!!!!

Slater!

Bella, congrats on the baby girl!!! I agree with you, I am glad I found out too. Because I was preparing mentally (and even buying pink stuff) for a girl. It's weird how your mind does that. I can't imagine going 9 months thinking one thing and finding out another...but that's just me. So now I've shifted my mind to thinking all boys & blue & sports, etc....and you have to switch your mind to girly stuff, pink, flowers, etc. You'll have fun...the girl stuff is soooo sweet!!

Doc said yesterday at my apt that Baby B is breech, so there's a strong likelyhood that I'll have a c-section. He said he might turn, but since there's not much room to move around with twins, he may not. Oh well...whatever. I don't care. I'll take them any way they want to come out!

I'm off for a 5 day holiday vacation. So I'll look forward to catching up on the posts when I get back. Take care all!!!

Hey Bella - congrats on the little girl!!

Cla - your story amazed me!!! I have heard of docs accidentally predicting a girl, but to predict a boy and be wrong? WOW! I couldn't imagine preparing everything and buying all blue and then end up with the opposite sex!

Hey Danielle - glad to see you are posting again :D

Libby - I have been having strange little sharp tugging pains lately - but they go away very quickly and it usually only happens when I move a certain way. I figure it is just my uterus and everything stretching down there. Is this similar to what you are feeling?

Traci - it is a comfort to me to hear that your headaches are getting better. I have been getting terrible migraines - with nausea, blurred vision, the whole bit. And nothing seems to help. Doc gave me prescription and even that barely takes the edge off. I have tried ice packs, caffeine, resting with my feet up - you name it! The last one I had lasted over 2 days, I even had to miss work. I never get headaches normally so this has been very hard for me. You are about 4 weeks ahead of me I think - so maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel?? I hope so.

Any advice that you ladies have on getting rid of headaches would be greatly appreciated!!

Mel - I have checked out that site you mentioned and it really is a great source for name ideas!

As for my gut feeling - well I was sure it was boy at first, now I have been feeling girl. My dh is positive it's a boy. So we will leave my gut feeling TBD for now! It could change next week...lol!

Hi to everyone else - hope you are all feeling good!!

Congrats Bella on the baby girl!!!

Lisa - Are your heaches sinus related - mine definitely are...and I read in one of my books that with pregnancy and the increase in blood flow your nose get stuffed up therefore leading to blocked sinuses = headaches...they suggested rubbing vaseline in your nostrils to keep it moisturized..well I did this last night...and no headaches today :D

Gotta run..doc appointment then driving back to Vienna (4 hour drive - if I am lucky and don't have traffic).

I wish everyone a GREAT weekend!!

P.S. - Go England! (I have to cheer for England with my husband being English)

Yay Bella congrats!

Funny you spotted the testes! I thought I was so clever coz could see white egg shaped things which I was sure were the testes too ... and realised after they were the bowels (err well at least I was in the right region!).

So we can shop in earnest now! I'm not overly into the extra pink-pink frou frou stuff, but I guess not having DH know its a girl is going to keep me on the white and unisex colours for a bit (although I do already have a secret hiding place where Ive hidden some little candy stripped pink onesies!)

Kirsti enjoy the hols (hey isn't that your second holiday in about 2 second!! Lucky thing!)

On subject of holidays people thinking bout when they will finish work? I was figuring working until 2 wks before to help with post baby finances but m/w has strongly recommended finishing by 36 wks (which yay on the upside means only 15 wks left!)

Hope your headaches get better Lisa :( Hopefully it wont last. Am having the sharp tug pains too, sometimes painful enough to make me gulp and set off worrying! But then they are over very quickly.

Sue, you get to see baby munchkin on Monday! How exciting! Will be thinking of you whilst swanning am around shopping. Its my B-day same day and my ideal treat is to have DH and I go to all the baby shops in town and shop shop shop!

can I ask you all a question?

does anyone know if its safe to use hair removal creams? I shave my legs but for some reason since being pregnant, my legs get very sore after shaving! I have been advised not to wax and I don't like waxing anyway.
what do you think?

thanks

Hi Terri, I am pretty sure that I have read we are not supposed to use depilatory creams... but then you also find that different people advise different things and some stricter than others... If you haven't used before I wouldn't now since your skin is extra sensitive and might have a reaction. As for waxing, I still go for that regularly but it is way more painful now than it ever was before pregnancy!

Thanks for your feedback girls, Lisa I have also had the stretching pains but this was different. Think it might have been the start of a stomach bug since I had a crampy, burning tummy over the weekend, which has eased off now. I rang my OB anyway who agreed probably a virus and assured me that it would not hurt the baby. The downward pressure I was feeling has disappeared, but a friend of mine said she had a really achey cervix from time to time throughout her pregnancy - which turned out to be fine, so I guess we all experience different things!

Anyone taking pregnacare vitamins? I am 16 weeks today and still having morning sickness - but funnily enough, do not have it when I don't take my vitamins! So have made the connection now that it must be something in them disagreeing with me - OB says probably the iron. Is everyone taking iron and calcium supplementation? OB has advised me to, but has said not while it is making me sick...think will just switch and see if it makes a difference.

How did the scan go Sue - did you find out the sex? My resolve is weakening re leaving it a surprise!...

Have a great day everyone!
