Hi Bella,
Thanks for your thoughtful comments. Sounds like our bodies react very similarly to the drugs. Did you notice a huge difference between the injections vs. the nasal spray? I felt like s*** on the spray- just really crabbing and nasty and no energy at all. So would if the injections have less side-effects, I'd rather try that. With my EC, they were able to take 10 eggs and fertilise 7 (although I had over 30 follicles), there were 4 embryos by Day 3 and 2 by Day 5. 1 was developing really well and the second 1 was also developing but at a slower rate and not good enough to freeze, so they put both in. I also have the feeling that by now, they have a much better handle on how my body is reacting and they monitor my levels + follicles with ultrasounds pretty closely. Am probably willing to try again in a month or so (after work settles down).

Sorry to hear about your friend as well. Cancer is such a nasty disease, although you also hear about success stories as well.

As for your little one, don't drive yourself crazy agonising and worrying over everything. As long as you are taking care of yourself (diet, exercise, enough sleep etc.) then everything will be fine. One book that is excellent to read is "What to expect when you are expecting" which tells you about what parts of the baby are developing each month, how big the baby is etc. It's fascinating to have this little being growing inside you. Of course once you've had your baby, you need to have a copy of "Baby Love" on hand as a great reference book.

Anyway, I hope you have a dream pregnancy and thanks to you (and all the others) for the support and words of encouragement.

Take care
Annette

Hiya,

we got the flat and we moved in last Saturday. I am still not on-line (we are at our in-laws for Easter break) and I miss you guys so v.much :(. Thanks heaps for your kind thoughts, all of ya, your words really lift me up...... . I knew this move was not going to be easy but it is proven to be more dificult than I imagined.... AGHHHH!!!!!!!

Belinda, I really hope Annie will get better real soon. Please give her big hugs from me. UK weather is still fliggin miserable (I see people scraping ice off their car windows in the morning - figure that one out...) so I am very careful not to catch any bugs myself.

Bella, my hubby and I got married in June 2003 so this would be our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. I am touched by what you said about putting problems in perspective. It has helped me a lot, I hate to admit it but I was starting to feel tad sorry for myself.....

Annette, my friend is due any minute and I have another friend who is due in two weeks time. Since coming to UK I am seeing more babies, kiddies under 3 and more pregnant woman/girls than ever before.......

Emma, I hope you are recovering well. I have had two laparoscopies in my ife and the surgery is a *****. I am sorry that they could not identify satisfactory cause for your problem after all that you had to go through... . Good luck on 21st.

Josie, hope you and little Tilly is having a great time with your folks (did you manage green-slime-nose-sucking job on Tilly OK? ;)). Is it cold in Hobart??? Not too bad here today - (in Linc, UK), I think we might even manage a little sunshine... how unusual.

Take care all; might not appear again for sometime but my thought are with you all, always.

Cheers, Tiger

Hi guys,

Tiger, so glad that you have moved into your new flat, lovely for you guys to set up your home and get all cozy..Can't believe the weather you describe, its really hot here, though Sydney was quite chilly, so maybe I'm still adjusting to getting back here! We flew back last night. Annie was SUCH a good traveller, really well behaved, just ate and cuddled and chatted and waved to people on the flight. She was stuffed by the time we got home, slept all the way back to our palce in the car then we gave her a bath and straight to bed. She seems to be lots better now as well, though has a bit of a spotty rash on her torso. I'll take her to the GP tomorrow if she's not better, but at the moment she is her happy self, eating and drinking well etc so probably it's just the end of the virus?

Annette, love your book recommendations, I agree with both of them. I also loved "up the duff" by Kaz Cooke , its a great pregnancy text with lots of info (but not tooooo much so you don't worry about every little thing!). I also like secrets of the baby shisperer as a baby text. Got me into a "feed, play, sleep" routine really well and Annie responded beautifully.

Bella, how are you feeling? Any nausea as yet? Morning sickness is horrendous, I'm still a bit chundery at the 19 week mark (I have my next scan this Friday..YIKES!!), hopefully you won't get too ill..

Gotta run, time for my nanna nap!!

Hi all,

Well saw Doc (I'm with David Linguard at QFG, BelB, by the way). He said that he was calling it Unexplained Infertility and gave us the option of Clomid/IUI cycle or staright to IVF. We decided to give Clomid a shot for a while and see what happens.

So I started taking it on Sat and I am having an US this friday to count my follicles. Then start morning blood tests on around day 12 and when I ovulate, we have to go in for sperm washing and IUI. Is this what everyone calls an IUI cycle?

Anyway had to laugh 'cos I'm in the middle of planning my 30th and we are having a cocktail party and it's in 6 weeks. If this cycle works - it'll be a very dry night for me.

We are feeling extremely happy and positive for the first time in months! We are being realistic about it all and know that there is only a slim chance this will work first time, but at least now, there's a light at the end of the tunnel and we have a plan. We are making progress.

Have a good one.

Em - that's great news!!! How exciting, especially having solid plans to look forward to. I hear what you're saying about a 'dry' 30th - I turn 30 in August, and I will be a lump at 6 months pregnant! Can't complain though - wouldn't change it for anything!!!

Well!!!!!

Went in to the clinic for my scan at 6:45am (!!!) and was feeling a tad anxious. Went something like this:

DH and I front up. Doc says "Come in, you too, Ant if you want".
DH says "great!"
Doc says "slip your pants off, this is a vaginal scan"
DH goes green and exits stage right!
Doc says there's one big follicle in there and its ready to go....what are you up to tomorrow?
I just died! "What? Tomorrow-tomorrow?"
He laughed and said "I'll just go draw up the ovulating drug"
I say"Ant, get in here!" and tell him.
He says "What? Tomorrow-tomorrow?"

So yes, tomorrow is the first IUI. I almost fainted on the way back to the car. And then cried. And then freaked right out! And this is just my first round! God help me!

Hope you're all well, and this made you giggle

Hey Bella,
Lovely to hear from you!!, and thanks for your congrats, we are over the moon at having two little girls, we are very lucky!!..We quite like Eleanor at this stage, mainly because we like Ellie and Ella and Elle for short and thought we could have any of these with a name like Elleanor. It's also hubbys mum's name, so has a bit of family importance. I love your names. I LOVE Lucy and really love Bella, our surname starts with B as well though, so we have kind of dismissed Bella because of the BB thing..Any ideas for boys names as yet??

Hi guys,
Been busy with work so haven't have time to post.

Congratulations to Bel on your news. Glad to hear everything is going well with your pregnancy too.

Tiger, glad to hear you have settled in and will have all your stuff soon. Must be a pain living out of a suitcase and not be fully settled in. How are you adjusting to life in London? I hope things are going well for. At least you won't get that homesick for Australia as there are so many Aussies over there.

Em, will keep my fingers crossed for you- nothing better than a big fat follicle just bursting to come to life. Hopefully the 2 week wait won't be too anxious for you. Definitely had a good chuckle when I read your story.

As for me, I have decided to take a little break from IVF while work is busy and to give my body a little break. Have been seeing a Chinese herbalist who is giving me some herbs to regulate my cycle and give me more energy. Also having accupuncture to work on the liver, spleen and kidney. So we'll see how things go.

Hi Tiger,
That's such good news re. your job, and that your stuff arrives tomorrow, you must be soooo over living out of a suitcase or two!!!
Thanks for your kind words re. our little girl..we're very excited..amazing how people have responded to our news.."Didn't you want a boy"?"..My goodness..after the fertility rollercoaster ride that we're all aware of, I'm just so bloody lucky to have one healthy little person and another on the way..gender is kind of secondary to be honest..
Gotta run

Hi Bel,

I know exactly what you mean. People that think they deserve IVF because they need to choose sex of a child. Unless it is for medical reason I think they are totally selfish. They should just be thankful that they don't have to go through what we have to experince.

Have a lovely weekend all!

Cheers, Tiger
