Post by Kamina »

rosie - just take it one day at a time. Please do not stress yourself out about the timing. Just keep telling yourself everything will happen in its perfect time. Migraines are no fun. Yours sound very debilitating. Yes, with the support of the ladies on the board I got over that incident. You guys are an awesome support group.

Lauren - Yes, it is hard to accept people who you barely know, being privy to your situation. It must be even harder if the person does not like you. I guess we all confide things about our spouse to other people. So I have to get over myself. I cannot control everything. You see, I like control and I think God is teaching me every day that I do not have control of every situation. This a hard lesson to learn.
I’m glad your cyst is gone. I had to wait 2 cycles for one of my cyst to disappear. You will be starting your stim this weekend! Be gentle with yourself. I have never heard of taking growth hormone with a cycle. I could have done with a little rejuvenation myself.

leorira - Yes, everything goes in California, especially being so near SF. I'm glad I made you laugh. Most of my male clients come to me because their wife insists they no longer want to snuggle up with Sasquatch at night. No more dreams, thank goodness. I hate mosquitoes too.

Ninde - hang in there. It will happen.

Kerri- 5th! You are a very strong woman. Had the doctor given you any reasons why he thinks the cycles are failing or is he just giving you the same protocol? What test does he run in-between protocols? Have you done any immune test?

becca -thanks for dropping in and sending positive vibes. I really felt them. Gosh all fall ladies are doing so well. I feel pressure. Will we all make it? I hope so. Your results sound awesome. I pray this is your time. Maybe twins!!!!!

Tess - First time I have been referred to as saucy. I'll take it, as I mostly like will never see my name and saucy together again. Thanks for that. lol.

Anton - your post are so colorful. It brightens the day. Nah, I don't think I can POAS. I think it will drive me too crazy. So I wait till BETA. I don’t want to be disappointed to early. This is my last chance and I need to feel a part of you guys for a long a possible. If I take the test early and it is negative, I will go crazy. Well some friends do not ask because it might be too painful for the other person. But I am sure it is hard for them to relate. I am so thankful for you ladies. You understand were I'm coming from. I'm not trying to explain Sex Education 101 again. (I don't ovulate. But don't you have your period? Yes, but I don't ovulate. Wait, I don't understand....) It’s so nice to get to the heart of the matter with you guys. 150 applicants!!! I hope you get the job! But how will it affect your cycle? Yes, Apple products are awesome. Apple lost a great visionary, Steve Jobs. People have been leaving flowers at our Palo Alto Apple store. 56 was too young. I just wish he would have worked less and spent more time with his family. The man was a workaholic.

WeHave - what a nightmare. I'm holding my breath until you get to 8 weeks. Until then, I am praying without ceasing for you. My waiting to exhale week is week 10. Is there another board for those who are waiting? It seems like once you make a positive with a few good beta's you graduate. But we all know this is not true. Support is still needed. I'm just doing the POI cold turkey. No ice no numbing... Not sure why you are experiencing. Maybe you should lay off the numbing? But you are both nurses so what do I know? I do massage and have a heat pack for 30 min after. What else am I going to do with my time?

Indigofire - I am still thinking of you. Did you talk to your doctor? How are you?

AFM - I’m just resting and relaxing and waiting for my beta on the 12th. Still cramping like my cycle is going to start. I’m so happy for all of you ladies! I still have hope.

Good evening ladies

I promise to get into personals soon. Its wonderful to read all the positive news.

Tonnia: im also in ireland. Which clinic are you in? Im sure it doesn't make too much difference but I think they should do a beta and I would ask.

Afm: I had the d&c today and once again the hospital were lovely. It went well and im just taking it easy this evening. I wonder how long after a d&c it can take to start ivf again? Does anyone know? I have timeswhwn I feel ok and then ottherswhen I just cry. I've decided to not work with some of my more dependent clients, I think the week should help with that

Ester - 9 weeks! That's amazing! You are about 1/4 of the way there! (half of all twins are born before 35 weeks) Cool!

Kat (Tuffy) - yay! That's an amazing follow-up beta! Now enjoy the next "2ww" until your u/s!

akdelp - you too! Fantastic second beta! My clinic only does a single beta and if it's good, then we wait for u/s. No worries about having 'only' two beta draws - things are fine!

Maria - the PIO sucks. I'm sorry. Maybe ask for "progesterone in ethyl oleate" instead of in regular oil. That's what we use here. It still sucks, but I've heard it's better. Huge congrats! That is a great HPT for 11"dpo"!

Tonia -- YAYAY! great for you! Here, we do only a single beta blood draw and if it's 'good' we wait for ultrasound. The 'follow up beta draws' seem to be an American thing.

Neffi - I'll ask my AF to send her buddy over to you! Usually takes me 4 days of no BCP to get a period, but this time it took only a single day! weird.

Rosie - only one week sounds good. So you are making a trip to N America with your husband before you start stimming (or after?)? Are you going to have time to have a little vacation, or will it all be interviews?--- btw, my husband is a computer programmer and hates Macs so much that he won't even let me own one! I have an iPod from before we met (8 years ago!) that I still use. He's been trying to get me to use a different type of music player, but I still like my classic iPod!

Christy - I became a red head this summer! Not really so red (I added red dye on top of my dark brown hair - so now I'm auburn. To make real red, I would have had to bleach first.) How did it go? What do you look like now? :D

Antonia - fingers crossed for the interview! I also thought I'd want to work in academia (ie, teach in a university). I thought it would be awesome if I got a phd - then we would be Mr. & Dr. (!) How cool would that be?! But I think the MA made me "burn out". I would love to do a doctorate one day, but not now. --- Hurray for the 'go ahead' on your natural cycle!

Kerri - oy. Sorry you are unemployed. What do you do? Is job searching hard in your area? I got a stupid job to keep me busy while I continue to wait for my dream career of "stay at home mom".... -- I agree in trying anything - why not?

Felicia - 2 more weeks to wait for that u/s!

Kamina - SF must be a pretty 'colorful' place to live. I live in Jerusalem, which is quite strictly religious. I don't live in a religious area (my life is pretty darn similar to the life I was leading in the USA), but there are real religious enclaves here. People here protest when public parking lots are open on Saturdays (because religious Jews aren't supposed to drive). How nuts is that? When I delivered my boys, the only hospital that had space in the NICU for 24 week twins was the super religious hospital. The NICU was fantastic (exactly as it would be at any other hospital), but my stay on the maternity floor was nuts! Sheesh! We would get scolded by the nurses for touching each other (because religious couples don't touch when a woman is 'impure' from vaginal bleeding). ICK!

blessed - no AF still? Your clinic can definitely tell you what's going on based on bloodwork and u/s.

Ninde - I'm glad the D&C went well. After my miscarriage, I was allowed to try again on my next cycle. They kept checking my blood to make sure my beta hcg went back to zero (if it didn't, that would be a sign that they didn't get everything in the D&C). That part took a looooonggggg 9 weeks. Then I waited for AF (who didn't show up at all), took provera to start a period and started my FET. Lydia was told that she has to wait another cycle. I'm not sure if that's becuase she is doing fresh (instead of FET). Ask your clinic.

AFM - my sister is here! So much fun! We sat and painted our finger nails while watching TV. Super awesome!

It's kinda hard. She's here... but the babies she was supposed to meet aren't. <sigh> I think it'll be even harder when my mom, grandmom and step-dad-to-be show up next week.

AF is here in full force. I'm getting sad that we aren't starting the FET this month.... I lined up everything (paperwork, clinic appts, BCP, etc) so we could start now. I totally agree with waiting another month because of my new job, but it's still hard.

It's hard to see all the BFPs here and know that it'll be 2 more months (at least!) until I see mine....

Have a great day, y'all! Keep the good news flowing!

So all the laws of what we Christians consider the’ old testament’ are in full effect for many in Jerusalem? For you, it is the Torah? Correct? I guess they had their reasons for certain laws back in the day. Many had to do with public health and safety. I guess some of the rules don't make as much sense today. Oh well what you are going to do. lol.

Nail painting did you do French manicure or color? I myself like a petit French manicure or clear. Color always chips and I hate having chipped polish. It always looks so unprofessional. Oh they have a new gel polish that last for 2 weeks that just came out last summer. It's the best ever. No flaking or chipping. The manufacturer is CND. Love it.

So if your husband can not touch you during that time, how does the doctor get pass this law?

Yes, have a great time with your sister. Try not to dwell on the bad thoughts. Sigh.

Good Evening, (maybe morning by the time you read this :D!)

Anton-
Wishing you the best interview on Friday, cannot wait to see hear it goes! :D I tell you any job is the best distraction from cycling. I do pray your honey gives you the green light with trying natural IVF, lol he should after you whipped him up a yummy buffet breakfast! :D Love, love my new hair, looks so much healthier!

Ester-
Wow 9 weeks is certainly a milestone, I cannot wait to hear more about your upcoming appts with your obgyn. How have you been feeling?

Leorira-
Your hospitals over in Jerusalem would put ours in America to shame, we just keep the thermasat set so low to kill all possible airborne illnesses, and hand santizer at every possible nurse station, but it's fastinating to here how each culture is different. My hair was naturally blond, but now it's neopolitian... I have streaks of copper, brown and blond, it took over 4 hours with the lowlights and it looks darker but I think I might go back in for more red, will wash and see, omg it better not turn orange!

Ninde-
It will be good to keep work stress-free with the dependent patients, I know some days will be easier then others. I totally understand what you are going through, and we're here if you need anyone to talk to.

AFM: Planning a long commute to my clinic on Monday to get bloodwork for my thyroid done, just might have to stop by the outlets for some retail therapy on my way back! I usually don't buy anything though since I know my fertility stuff comes first.
The weather has been SO nice, it puts me in a good mood just being outdoors in it. :D

Sunshine - hope all goes well w your appt tomorrow! As for shopping, I keep feeling the urge to, but then I try to remain hopeful and think that I won't even to fit into any of the clothes I buy bc I'll be preggo soon. Yep, I'm that girl, the one that talks about how I can't do things because I'll be pregnant soon. My family and friends are so annoyed I'm sure.

Kat - rock on!

Ninde - how are you feeling? Some docs actually do d&c's as part of the protocol. I actually did last cycle. Your doc would typically wa t you to skip a cycle and wait, but you should be clear after that as long as your hormone levels are back to normal (beta is close to zero) and everythig looks ok. I'm sorry. I know.

Blessed - wtf? I'll dance extra hard for you.

Kamina - 5 more days! (assuming you're sleeping right now)

Felicia - I would be a poas maniac!!

Tonia- yesssss

Anton - hurray for bleeding :). I can't wait to hear about your IVF journey.

Rosie - I just got pushed back a week and it already almost over! Itll go by quickly. I'll be here :)

AFM - DHEA is making me irritable and giving me acne. Point in case- I hate DH's soap and deodorant smell. They're both Irish Spring. I didn't hate them before but now the smell of them makes me not only sick but angry. I detest it. Like actually feel hatred. So this is what it's like to have a lot of testosterone?! This is no way to live, dude. Also, this acne...it ain't no ordinary pimples. They're crazy and like on my neck and behind my ears. I mean, it sounds worse than it is...I'm not am hideous mess, bit omg. Seriously? I get that I'm a little vain, but besides all the obvious issues I have in my life right now (mostly this whole fragile x thing), in order to have a stupid baby I also have to take hormones that coincidentally make me fat and ugly? That seems more than unfair.

Kamina - we don't have religious law here, but the religious faction have a strong say in Parliament - so we get some ridiculous laws too (ie no pork products like bacon or ham can be sold in this country --- but plenty are. It's just called "white meat" and people pretend that it's an exotic type of chicken :D ) Yes, the Torah is the Old Testament - and we have the Talmud as well (which is commentary explaining the Torah and teaching us the practical laws). Israel is a democracy - NOT a theocracy like Iran or whatever, but we do have religious based laws because of the strong religious factions. Our laws are really similar to British laws (since they were the colonial power here until 1948). Life is totally normal here - I wake up in the morning, drink coffee, go to work, etc. The weirdest thing about living in Israel is the wonky weekends --- because the vast majority of the population here is Muslim or Jewish (very few Christians), the weekend is Friday (Muslim holy day) and Saturday (Jewish holy day). Sunday is a regular work day! We work Sunday-Thursday, instead of Monday to Friday! Weird, no?

and doctors get around every single Jewish law because they are saving lives. Jews who are Sabbath observant don't use electricity or write on Saturday -- but hospitals still do. Anyone can break any law to save a life - so doctors do whatever they need to do. Religious doctors try to respect the rules as much as possible (ie, only use electricity when necessary - only writing down things that are necessary). Also, a lot of people here are NOT observant at all.

I like funky colors on my nails, but I also hate when it chips -- so usually only for a few days and then I take it off. Usually, I just wear a clear polish that is also a nail strengthener (to prevent my nails from breaking). I'll have to look into that gel polish - that sounds awesome! And I always have some fun color on my toes - those don't chip nearly as often!

Christy - I hope your hair doesn't turn orange! Gah! :D This summer was the first time ever that I dyed my hair. A friend and I did it with at-home dye. I was terrified that it would come out orange! -- Enjoy your 'outlet therapy'!

Lauren - the BCP are giving me terrible acne, so I can relate. I've had pretty clear skin since high school - so this is pissing me off! I don't even remember how to take care of acne-riddled skin! and go buy your husband some new soap and deodorant before you kill him! :D Does he have a prefence? Mine totally doesn't, so I buy it for him and he smells like whatever I buy. Personally, I like Old Spice :D

AFM - Having a hard time with NOT cycling this month. I wish I was, but I know it's best that I don't.

DH and I had a nice long walk with the dog last night, just chatting and hanging out.

tonight/tomorrow is Yom Kippur -- the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. According to Jewish tradition, this is the day when you are judged by God and He decides your fate for the upcoming year. I'm so over it and not interested in participating.... oh well.

I just bought a book that a lot of people have recommended. It's called "A perfect replica of a figment of my imagination" and it's a memoir of a woman whose first son is stillborn and second child is born healthy. Not 'light' reading, but maybe appropriate for right now.

Geez - I hope I get my rainbow baby. More and more I've been thinking about "what if it just doesn't happen for us?". Everyone says that we totally deserve a baby to raise and that we are great parents... but not every sad infertility/infant loss story has a happy ending. We'd like to think that every gets their rainbow baby, but not everyone does. What if that's me?

Leora - Just wanted to say that I also read "An Exact Replica of a Figment of my Imagination" and I thought a lot of the writing was beautiful - especially the end. I love the metaphor that she closes with about the reconstruction of colonial Fort George in wood cut-outs...it really stuck with me. Also, know that whenever you are having trouble being hopeful for yourself (and that's okay) there are so many people here rooting for you who can be hopeful for you.

Leora-I also love reading but haven't read that book. Thank you for sharing. I will probably pick that one up this weekend so I can read it after I'm done with the one I'm reading now. I'm reading a book called "God never blinks". They are very inspiring short stories. You are a very inspiring woman. I know that I could never decided to try IVF again if it were not for you. Reading your story inspired me. I know that you having inspired me an others does not in anyway replace the pain you feel of what you have been through. But, I know God places you in my path and I am convinced that he has put you in the path of others in this board. And for the motivation, faith, and hope that you give other without even knowing it you will receive your miracle. I don't know how I know, it's just the faith I have and I feel deep within. Sending you all my love and a great big long distance hug.

On my way to work now. I will write more personals later today. Of course, I POAS this morning and thank God the line is getting darker. Still not celebrating. We won't be for quite sometime. But it's comforting to see that little line getting a little darker every morning.
