Waiting game...

Post by tsippora »

Hi Ladies,

It's always fun to read about good scans...living vicariously I suppose! Am 9 weeks tomorrow and have to wait 3 more weeks to see if s/he is OK! Agree with Caroline, we'd all like a daily scan.

Lav, I wouldn't worry about skipping that scan. Honestly, at your age the odds of Down's are so very low that it's hard to imagine you would have learned anything bad.

Caroline, thanks for the advice on the meds. I'm finding that one side of my butt is so rigid from all the shots that I'm going to listen to the docs and stop daily injections tomorrow; I'll do every other day in the other cheek until the start of week 10, and then give it over to nature!

Kagome, the sickness is terrible but believe me, if it disappears for a day or two you won't like that either as you'll worry something has gone wrong! I haven't had symptoms in 2 days and am scared now....wish the little one could make me sick for 10 minutes every day so I'd know s/he was fine, but could then go about work as usual. It's so hard to hide this at the office.

Hope you're all hanging in there...

Hi everyone -

sounds like we're all getting along OK

Tsippora - ouch! hope your behind is recovering  Your symptoms might be tailing off over the next few weeks. Everyone's a bit different I guess - I was very sick up to 12+3 then everything suddenly stopped and now I feel great!

Jellybean101 - YAY! this is fantastic news!!! Congratulations to you and DP - enjoy your pregnancy and first scan!

Lavender and Jules - I have completely gone off food too - really don't like meat or fish now and can't be bothered with anything except mash! Well I can't eat mash alone for the next 6 months (more's the pity) Fruit's ok though... no constipation for me.

Keep in touch - it's great to hear your news,
Caroline xx

Hi Ldies

just to make you laarf ...I put a red vitE capsule in last night instead of a progesterone suppository and now have bright shocking PINK discharge :D :D   wot a twit  hahahahahaha

Lav, denise, Caro - me too junk food R us - fancy cake, biscuits, chips, salt and vinegar crisps (not easy to find in Germany I tell you), spag bol.....the thought of veg  meat  luckily I seem to be able to force down a bowl of fruit salad - dh makes it for me and leaves it in the fridge. trick is a can of lychees as a base then lots of banana, apple, grapes, pears, mango - all cut really small. Also drinking lots of low fat milk as long as it's cold..and managing an egg on wholemeal toast for breakfast (but hard work). I just read the 2nd tri diet advice from Zita West natural pregnancy book hahahahahahahahhhaha   6 portions of fruit and veg OMG well big bowl of fruit salad and multi vits will have to do

BTW - I have a book from Miriam Stoppard from the late 90's that a friend gave me ages ago and she states firmly that the 2nd tri starts after 12 weeks of pregnancy ie after fertilisation, so her 2nd tri chapter starts week 14+, Zitas book is the same.....but Kiev have just conbgratulated me on entering 2nd tri eh?????? anyone else ideas??

jellbean if you are 3.5 weeks since ET then you add two weeks so you are 5.5 weeks pregnant (in German then call it menstrual pregnancy age)..as in natural pg's they count from last period.

better go and lie down again

hugs to veryone

Hi everyone -

Denise - you've booked prenatal classes - how exciting! When's everyone else booking / going? I haven't sorted that out yet - haven't even got a clue where to go!

Big J, laughed so hard after reading your pink suppository story that I nearly did myself a mischief - you must be tired to go doing something like that... get some more rest!!!!!

Tsippora - you feeling any better now? Stopped the meds yet? Only 17 more 'get-ups' to your scan (fewer if you don't count non-working days or lie-ins!!)

Lav - I agree, skipping that scan won't cause you to miss out on something - except another glimpse of your beanie.

Smita - our guardian angel - only 16 more days to go for you, WOW, so how are you feeling? Our OSCAR went really well thanks, we got back a 1:5,500 chance of Downs and 1:10,000 chance of 'other' genetic problems, so we're floating on cloud nine. We're starting to accept that it really might all work this time and it's sooooo exciting. Still getting lots of headaches though, so anyone tried accupuncture or anything else? Would love to find something that helps as I'm spending too much time trying to sleep off bad headaches.

Well, I'm thinking of visiting the 2nd tri board... anyone else want to hold hands or have you already gone over?

love

hi guys
glad to see the thread is getting busy again, i had 1st appt with midwife last week and am 11 wks 3days now. they have said no scan now from 8.5 wks till 20 wks which i find obscure , or am i just worrying? anyway she discussed amnio becuase of my age and said i had a 1/167 chance of downs at "my age...." anyway dh and i have booked a nuchal scan for this saturday coming with prof Impey at the John Radcliffe the nearest hospital to us in Oxford, he sounds really good and with blood & scan can give us a 90% of what the odds are. ( bugger age , i wish they nhs midwifes realised how hard it has been to get here already without having my age chucked at me..........). looking forward to scan and i feel fine apart from an expanding waistline , anybody else at 12wks struggling with there normal jeans now? ( suits for work - who i havnt told - im wearing the biggest ones ive got!).
Smita good luck over the next week or so , i bet you cant wait!
lol and good wishes to all

Hi all,

I just got a positive result last week - 17 days after egg retrieval and a number of 584. Obviously a good strong number. I'm now close to 5 weeks pregnant. But I have had diminishing breast tenderness. They were sore right near the end of my treatment and have been slowly going back to normal. I woke up this morning and there was absolutely no tenderness? Has anyone had this happen? Should I be concerned?

I have another blood test to check my levels this Thursday but I want some info - like asap....

Any help is appreciated.

Gregmbarry,

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS on your positive - you must be very happy bunnies! As far as the symptoms go, I had just the same... no tenderness or visible difference and indeed no symptoms at all til week 8, I guess it goes like that sometimes. I'll not be the only one to say this either - I posted almost the exact same query as you and had plenty of people get back to say it's normal. (Incidentally, I'm still waiting for the magnificent bazookas promised in all the books!) Good luck for your next bloodworks and enjoy your pregnancy!

Mandyb - I think the scan frequency varies, but what you're being told isn't unusual. We'd all have a scan a day if we could, but we can't, so there. Anyway, enjoy your nuchal - that'll be a nice opportunity to see your little one. Oh, and I completely agree about the age thing... my results from nuchal + bloodworks came back as 1:5,500 (I'm 34) whereas a friend who is 5 years younger had hers show 1:500, neither of which was anywhere near bad. I think the medical staff ought to be asking us whether the results of an amnio would make any difference to our feelings towards continuing the pregnancy, and having taken so much effort to get this far (as you said) the answer is a big fat NO!

BigJ - nice ticker! took me ages to work out how to get one... was being mega thick, but perhaps that's nothing new! Glad to hear you are coming off the meds. You feeling better yet? I've started being sicker than ever. Only got out of the house twice yesterday, once for a quick swim, which was lovely, and once to go shopping, but had to run home to be sick:( In fact I've been sick so much I've got little blood blisters on my neck :( :( hope I can get off these meds soon.

Take care all,
love

Worrywart!

Post by tsippora »

Hi girls,

Well, last week I gave in to my worries! I went from very sick (though no puking) to perfectly fine. After 4 days of no symptoms I called my doctor and she told me to come in for a quick scan. Said the little one looks almost a week further along than I am and is active, so not to worry. Felt happy enough to try a short, slow jog for the first time since pregnant, then regretted it! Anyone else still running? Anyhow, next scan is 2.5 weeks away and I'm hoping to deal with the wait better this time and not question it so often.

Smita, you are right about the constant worry. Thanks for telling me that it might just end in a couple of weeks! You're really almost there so I wish you the very best.

Caroline, are you serious about blood blisters? That sounds truly awful. Has the bleeding stopped completely? You poor dear.....at least you have a great attitude about everything! I did switch to shots every other day, by the way, and am loving it! Will stop completely at start of week 10. By the way, how on earth do you add a ticker?

GregM, the soreness in my breasts subsided substantially a bit after ET and they've never been as sore since, so definitely don't worry. Probably something to do with the stimulation drugs. But they've stayed bigger and my husband is thrilled.

bigJ, thanks for the huge laugh.....hard to compare it to anything else I've read!

Hope I'm not the only one getting bigger already! Someone at work told me I look heavier today. He's telling the truth I know, but it wasn't fun to hear. It's only 3 lbs, why is it so obvious! Still, a good problem to have, I know, and all that eating in the night has to put on weight.

Wish you all sweet dreams and can't wait to join you on the second tri thread,

Tsippora

Hi Gregmbarry,
Congratulations and welcome here!
About tenderness,
Mine were tender to start off with- till about 5-6 weeks I think and then they kept fluctuating- as in tender on some days and not on others- so I think you might find the same happening in a couple of days- though mine have been back to sensitive this 3rd tri..And oh, mine havent grown a lot either!!

Mandy,
Wishing you lots ofluck for your nuchal- it'll be fun to see your lil one again!

Caro,Lovely lovely news on your OSCAR- always such a relief- now hop over!
It mustbe horrid to continue with the sickness- i thought the second tri would be calmer.. hope it easesoff soon- though, honestly, its better to keep having that reassurance!!
YES! about 2 weeks for me to go- am thinking that if they tell me it'll be a c-sec mostly, I'll schedule it earlier so that Ican hold the baby.. lets see.

BigJ
Lovely to see your ticker back! And am I glad your progesterone levels are where they shd be at so you can feel better about tapering those meds off!
Hop over now.
Hope your scan goes wonderfully well !
The [pregnancy brain is soo normal for us all now

C you all soon!

It's great to see your ticker - and watch the days being ticked off!!

I hope the scan went well, can't wait to hear all your news about bubs and how you're feeling.

Keeping everything crossed that you get to come off those drugs soon and that you have a healthy and happy rest of the pregnancy.

Take care sweetie

You guys are all the BEST! I was so happy to read all of your replies this morning. Now I can just rest easy until my next blood test. I actually conceived naturally about a year and a half ago and had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. At about 7 weeks my breast tenderness went away - so that's what had me worried this time....but now I'm okay. Actually my symptoms are exactly the same as someone mentioned - they were sore basically right after treatment - got big - and the tenderness has gone - but they're still big - same as you - husband is liking that!

Thank you all again - and I look forward to going through the rest of my SUCCESSFUL pregnancy with you all!!!
