Which pains are normal and which pains are cause for concern

Post by wannababy1229 »

Hello ladies,

I am newly pregnant and so far, so good. I did have a strange pain that stretched across my stomach in the naval area. I have had it before on a few ocassions, but this episode actually forced me to lay down. Once I did, rest, I was fine.

My question is what pains are normal and what pains are cause for concern? Any info would be helpful. Thanks!

First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy!

Pains are very common throughout pregnancy, although that'll not make you worry any less... I don't think there is any such thing as 'normal' pains as everyone's bodies deal with pregnancy so differently, but just thinking of all the stretching and moving that is going on in there at the momemt  , so it's no wonder we feel all sorts of things.

The best thing to reassure you is to give your midwife a quick call - if nothing else it will set your mind at rest and that's what they are there for.

Just take it easy, and if your body tells you to lie down, just do it.

Enjoy the next few months!

Pains are pretty normal all throughout the pregnancy. Sometimes they can result from dehydration or just plain stretching of the uterus. I would drink some water and lay down for a bit if they are bothering you. It is so stressful as we all know how hard your worked to get to this point. Congratulations!!
