5th IVF

Here is me and my husbands history:

Done IVF 4 times, Male 35, Female 30, male factor low sperm (2 million), low motility, morphalogy, great quality embryos 4 transferred each time, ICSI done every IVF, assisted hatching last IVF:

1st IVF failed
2nd IVF - our son
3rd IVF - early miscarriage
4th IVF - failed

We are considering doing it again but want to know if our chances of conception are less with the results from above and this being our 5th time.

Hi,

Of the four times you've done IVF you've been pregnant twice one of which was a full term pregnancy. I think those are pretty good statistics!

I am going into my 7th attempt with 3 chemical pregnancies but no full term pregnancies... yet! I am convinced it is going to happen it is just a matter of time.

i too am on my 5th cycle of ivf. i got bfp the 1st time around with a healthy 2 year old now. when we started for a second in jan. 2007 we were sure it wouldn't take long. well...the first 3 were unsuccessful, 1 miscarriage and the others 2 bfn. )all with icsi and 2 with assisted hatching). my dr. is willing to do 1 more. i am trying to stay hopeful because it has happened for us before, but i am also trying to prepare myself for the possiblity that we will not have anymore children. i feel SO blessed to have our son and know that there are A LOT of couples out there that want just that. i do hope to give him a silbing though. i'm the oldest of 4 and loved having a big family.

i guess i feel that it will happen, it's just a matter of time and how many times. it sounds like you all are in the same boat too. best of luck to you both...any dates on next cycles?

I just read about your 5 IVFs. I have done 3 myself due to the same issue - low sperms counts of my hubby. We have been undergoing fertility treatments for 3+ yrs - started with IUI, then IVF 3 times. Got lucky 1st time but had miscarriage in 4th month. Other 2 IVFs failed. Doctors have recommended ICSI to us from the beginning but we have been nervous due to mixed reviews by doctors and on the internet. It's great to hear that you had a successful ICSI!! Can you PLEASE.........PLEASE.............PLEASE......... share your ICSI experience. How old is your child? How is everything goinng for him/her? Hopefully no complications or no problems? Very very very eager to hear back from you.........any other tips on ICSI would be great. Pls respond!!

i'd be happy to talk about my healthy boy! he just turned 2 and he is absolutely beautiful & perfect! i didn't know there were mixed reviews about icsi. what have you heard? we have done 4 ivf's total, all with icsi, due to dh abnormal sperm, but our infertility is mostly because of my severe endo. i had a cyst removed from lt ovary in 6/2003...some damage was done, so my lt ovary doesn't respond well to treatment. as you saw from our stats we have been unsuccessful since our son, with one m/c this summer. i am starting lupron tomorrow in attempt to do another (5th) ivf with icsi and assisted hatching. i think this will be our last attempt. we feel extremely blessed to have a child and know that there are countless couples out there that want just that. we have never had enough good embies to have any frozen as a matter of fact, we don't really have good embies at all. re said that we may have just gotten lucky straight out of the shoot and got our son right away. it may have given us a false sense of comfort when going for the 2nd, but we'll see.
