Hi all,

I have not been posting much but I have been reading all your posts every week. I am very happy to read about all the positive results and very sad for the negatives. Life is so very challenging.

Since June when our first attempt at ICSI failed, I have been trying to get back to "normal" but I have now forgotten what normal is.

I am now getting ready for my 2nd go...not sure how I will feel second time round. I am more confident as I know what to expect but at the same time I am more nervous and a bit scared.

We went to see the Doctor today and he told us that we came really close last time. I did tell him that I did not feel very comfortable with the pessaries and he suggested injections instead. Has anybody injected instead of inserting (pessaries).. I would love to hear from anybody that has experienced these injections.

I wish you all well.

Urs
xxx

Hi!

In answer to the injections - I am currently injecting the Gestone. I was never given the pessaries and despite the initial pain they are ok. The site gets a little knotty, and we were told to move onto upper legs as well as the bottom. After a few weeks it does get uncomfortable to sleep, but I have got preganant both times with gestone so must work (mc in Feb now 5 weeks pg).

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Michelle
I too am currently injecting progesterone, and despite my initial posting trying to find relief, I've since discovered they're not that bad. Since it is in oil, it tends to ball up a bit more than any of the other injs, but I found that if my dh presses the site immediately after he pulls the needle, it doesn't ball nearly as much. Still, it sometimes leaves a nice painful knot, but knowing that it is the best way to get the progesterone in my body, and therefore my best chance for success, it is easy to handle.

Good luck on round two! I'm about half way through my 2WW and just trying to stay sane at the moment. I'm not sure what your doc meant about being "close," but I'm sure you'll find success on Round 2.
Thank you so much for your replies.

Our problem is very very low sperm count. My DH had a kidney transplant 8 years ago and this has complicated the process. My DH takes 15 pills a day (for life) so the Doctor's concern was that we would not even get to the embryo stage.. but luckily we did they injected 13 of my eggs and we produced 4 embryos 2 of which were very very good quaility. I think that is what the Doctor meant by close because I don't think he thought we would even get to that stage.
The embryos were implanted and I got to day 9 of the 2ww.. because AF visited me too early is that they suggested the injections instead of the pessaries.

Thanks for your replies re the injections.. Michelle, you give me hope.. I don't think I mind about the pain I just hope for a positive result this time and I will do whatever it takes.

Fi and Catherine - Wishing you all the best of luck - when are your exact test dates??.. I will keep my fingers crossed for you both!!!

July Ann - Good luck too... I thought about starting next month but I am a bit overweight so I am not too sure.. Maybe I will leave it till Dec / Jan. I need to loose at least 1.5 stones, my blood preassure is a bit high so I hope that loosing the weight will help.

Thanks again for your advice.

Urs
xx
