Hi all, I'm brand new to this web site and am excited about the journey ahead for me and all of you
CHEERS!!!!
So here goes... I am 39 -been with my man for 14 years. A couple of years ago, I was finally getting around to trying to get knocked up - but to no avail- I've had lower back problems for years - we thought that the trauma to my lower back could be effecting my ability to get pregnant, and certainly would affect my ability to carry a child - so a year ago, I had 3 vertebrae fused together with titanium, and while not super terrif, I am pretty good. I checked with my doc, and everything was a go - so we've been trying again for some time- and still no luck -
Next stop -Phlebotomy -then Hysterosalpingogram- which was a hoot -up in stirrups, broken speculum, an intern's 1st HSP, and a roaming incarcerated man in shackles staring at me! - but the good news was, nice, clear tubes!
turns out, Teratozoospermia is one of our main obstacles - this means his sperms' morphology is sort of messed up. While he has copious amounts of them ( like 300million ) they are all pointy headed - which it seems to me would help with fertilization of an egg, but nature has a funny way of doing things, and well, that combined with age, etc, IUI, chlomid, and all of that stuff was not really going to be our best use of time, so January 2008, we'll be attempting our 1st IVF!!!
I'm excited and nervous -and really don't understand a lot of the acronyms and such on this web site that all the girls are using - but I hope to learn- and I will be on board with the Jan2008ers, and all it holds
I am very lucky that I am just a mile from a top Infertility program in the country -and my insurance will cover it (I hope). I've also been working with an acupuncturist who is amazing!
So, I look forward to hearing from you all

Just wanted to say a warm welcome to you ladies! You have found the most wonderful place! The people (both men and women) on this site are amazing, and I don't know how I could have gotten through the IVF process without them. I am just about to start my 2nd cycle, my last ended in a BFN on 11/22 (BRN = big fat negative). Anyway, just wanted to say hello and welcome! There is a jan/feb thread that I am on that has some wonderful women on it. You should check it out. And loopie, for the acronyms, check out the "sticky abbreviations" thread under the general forum. It defines just about all of them. It was a great help to me when I started posting.
