Anyone else at the Lister?

Post by Grace »

Hi Sue

I am a Lister girl myself. I have had two attempts there and starting my third with them -crrently down regging. I am what July Ann calls a "hard core ivfer"!!!! Previoulsy I attended Kings College and the consultant there recommended I see Marie Wren at the Lister.
I have alot of respect for her, she is pretty straight talking and does n't beat around the bush so to speak.
Generally have found all the staff very nice and helpful. Sometimes really busy and you do have to hang about a bit. They do try to accomodate you as much as possible although as with most big hospitals sometimes feels like a bit of a conveyor belt at busy times.

Best of luck for tomorrow - they use general anesthetic at the Lister which for me has been alot less traumatic. The anesthetist I have had on both occassions is really lovely and she uses acupuncture along with the anesthetic if you are happy about that.
You get a nice lunch afterwards too...which is nice because I have always been starving!!

Although I have n't had any luck there. I don't believe it is anything to do with the treatmeant I received. I have found them to be very thorough in their investigations and quite open and innovative too.

If you have any other questions please ask. Is this your first go?
Wishing you the best of luck and let us all know how you get on at EC.

Gracexx

Hi Grace

Thanks for replying. This is my 2nd go, the 1st was at St Barts in 96, so feels like my 1st time all over again. I am more realistic this time but slightly hopeful despite being older as the Lister recommended I have my tube clipped prior to IVF as I have a hydrosalpynix and this can "wash" away embroys aparently. I wasnt told this last time.
So I had this op in Aug and hope it will help!
We are seeing Tunde Ogenyami(probably spelt wrong) he is hilarious and doesnt seem to know what to do with his pc, I am hoping he is better with egg collection!
How many attempts have you had? God I am nervous!

Sue xx

Sue

Don't be nervous you will be fine. Things have improved so much in the past 7 years, I am sure everything will be okay.
I have met Tunde he did and et for me, he is mega relaxed is n't he?
Unfortunately have had 5 attempts so far but don't think about that because most people seem to get there long before that!!!.

I am 36 and all the attempts have been fine - no one really knows why those embies won't stick around!!

Good luck tomorrow ...what time is your slot? I guess you have to be in there bright and early? Will keep my fingers crossed, you will be fine.

Gracexx

Hi

Got to be there for 07.30am!! as if I will sleep properly tonite anyway. Have you had 5 full cycles or are you including FET? Admire your determination. Have been in danger of OHSS for a week so have been coasting since then so not feeling that positive as worried the eggs may be no good by now, or they wont put them back in as they will be too worried I will OHSS!
If this doesnt work I will get throughly pissed and book a holiday, as you can tell I am in negative mode now!

Sue xx
