New Girl on the block

Post by Dagny »

Hi there, I have just found this web site and have found out so much more about IVF and ICSI that I thought I knew. I would like to share my experiences with you all as you all seem so kind and understanding and can really say 'yeah we know exactly what she means'. I am on my 3rd attempt and will be doing a test next Wednesday the 8th Oct. I had a nightmare first attempt when I got a BAD case of OHSS and a two week stay in hospital and to add insult to injury the result was negative. After having both tubes removed I had my 2nd attempt and hyper-stimulated again although I was monitored well and we got through it and again - negative. Trying to remain positive was so hard. My 3rd and current try is not going brilliantly as I slightly hyper-stimulated again and got rushed into hospital day after ET with severe abdo pains - suspected twisted ovary. We still don't know what it was but i've been on anti-biotics for a week and have felt dreadful with feeling sick and terrible runs. As far as I'm concerned the outlook does not look good. I know I sound negative but I am feeling really down right now. I have been having period pains too which is worrying me.

We have never been able to freeze anything either. We have lost so many little ones over the years it just breaks my heart.

I have worked out some of the abbreviations in this forum but not all of them - I really do feel like a novice. What is AF and DH? I have so many other questions but I have rambled on for long enough for now.

Good luck to all. Dagny

[Edited by Dagny on 02-Oct-03 13:46]

Hi Dagny

Welcome! I only found this site halfway through my cycle, when I was searching for info on OHSS. I am on my 2nd IVF attempt, the previous one being in 1996, so had forgotten what this did to your emotions and am struggling to cope with them at the moment. I had one of my tubes clipped in Aug, as I was told that it may help my chances. Like you this time I hyperstimulated, but luckily they managed to coast me for a week and I luckily got 14eggs and 11 embryos.
I test next Thurs, day after you and am feeling really low and very tearful(PMT signs big time) also have bad period pains so am utterly convinced this hasnt worked.
Probably like me you have read old threads on this site and there really doesnt seem to be any consistancy as to what those who it works for and those that it doesnt feel like! Guess if its meant to be it will happen.
One thing I can say is that it really is nice to be able to share your feelings with people who can truly understand what you are going through.
At least this time next week we will know, and hopefully will be celebrating!

Sue xx

[Edited by SQUEW on 03-Oct-03 04:57]
