Fresh vs Frozen

Post by jlp1022 »

This is my first IVF cycle/treatment of any kind. Scheduled for my retrieval tomorrow morning. What are the differences in the procedure/cost/etc between the fresh vs. frozen transfer?

your clinic should have a paper with all the fees on it . . . frozen is typically cheaper because you've already gone through the shots and retrieval/transfer with a fresh cycle . . . then again, it may just depend on your clinic . . . my clinic is more expensive the 1st round, and gets cheaper each subsequent round . . .

Fresh at my clinic is about $10,000 plus meds and frozen is $2,000 plus meds. Wtih frozen (FET) you need way less meds. I am having my first FET Saturday. I had a baseline ultrasound and bloodwork and one mid cycle and then go in for ET. I took Lupron and estrogen patches and now am off Lupron and doing projesterone shots. With freah, I have about 6 ultrasounds, three shots per night and lots of bloating and cramping with all the follies. So FET is much easier. Good luck to you. Let's hope all you need is this fresh cycle!
