1st failed IVF - now what?

Post by jbird30 »

Hello everyone, I'm pretty new to this- figured it would be helpful to find some support because I don't really have any friends going through IVF. I just had my first failed attempt (found out yesterday), and I am wondering what I should do next. My clinic said that I can arrange a consult with my doc. I am wondering, for anyone who has tried and failed before, what kind of questions I should be asking him. Throughout the cycle, everything seemed to be going really well. I produced 12 eggs, 10 retrieved, 8 fertilized, and got two really good embryos (both transferred) and two others were viable and frozen. My hormone levels were high and stable throughout the cycle. Naturally, I am really, really bummed that this didn't work out, and I'm guessing that's normal... sigh. :(
me: 30, mild endometriosis, late ovulator (day 20)
dh: 36, no male factor
TTC: just over 3 yrs.
4/10, 5/10 - Clomid hoping for IUI - faulty OV predictor
6/10 IUI - BFN
7/10 1st IVF cycle - BFN
10/10 1st FET - BFP!
11/10 - miscarried @ 7 wks. :(

Don't give up is my advice. It's different for everyone. Some people get it on the first try, others do numerous cycles. Be open. Best of luck to you.

I had my first IVF this month too and I'm sure I'm not pregnant. They implanted only 1 embie but not a very good quality. I don't know what to do either...I thinking of changing my clinic... :(

I did change clinics after four failed cycles, I found one that works with many women like me "advanced age"
