This is my first day as a member of the forum. You people sound so supportive and I could really use a shoulder.
I'm 34, my husband is 33 and has severe sperm morphology problems. We went through IVF (ICSI) and from 23 eggs we ended up in one chemical pregnancy after our fresh et, then only one frozen embryo transfer after six frozen embies didn't make it. The fet has now also ended in chemical pregnancy. We are still in doubt whether or not to change RE and clinic, our concerns being that our present RE is familiar with morphology issues, even though needless to say we expected to see something out of the 23 eggs. What is normally the road after two chemicals, when practically it seems there's something wrong with the embryos so they initially implant but then don't continue to develop?

Welcome Kay! I wish we could figure out the answers together of why with so many embryos, the cycle didn't take. IVF is so complex, but with so many eggs, testing might be something worth looking into. We know it only takes one and the doctor could rule out IF it's the quality of egg--to being able to find the healthy one, because it just takes one. Maybe DHEA might be something to look into? Definately talk more with you RE and weight out all your options first.

RE has suggested IMSI to us, since we know about the sperm morphology issues.
[IMSI is basically ICSI with the added "advantage" that more attention is paid to the quality of the sperm to be injected into the egg. In IMSI, the man's sperm sample is examined under a high-definition microscope and only those sperm cells which appear have "good" genetic characteristics are selected for injection into the female partner's eggs]
Hopefully this will help, but we researched and found out that because IMSI takes quite a while, the eggs awaiting in the incubator during this time are at greater risk cause they don't like the exposure...then the plan is to transfer 3 fresh if they manage to produce them. The statistics last time were strange: 23 eggs, ICSI made on 12, IVF on 11 (they chose to try regular IVF cause except morphology the sperm parameters seemed promising). the day after there were 17 embryos, 8 of which from IVF. by day 3 (day of transfer) there were only 9 embryos that survived and they were the ICSI ones. Then the clinic transferred two 8-celled (that ended up as low Beta and chemical pregnancy) and sent 7 to cryorpresevation . two months later to our disappointment only one has survived the thawing on transfer day (ending up as a chemical pregnancy as well). And this is how from 23 eggs we got nothing and have to restart all over again. But I'm more cheered up cause I have you people, hormones don't seem to scare me half as much as before if I know we all share the same experiences...
